Bet Boss wishes he got that plastic surgery now
Big Boss Circa 1995?
Did you mean Solidus Snake's face Circa 2014?

So in essence he did get the plastic surgery lol :)

He looks like that in 1995 according to his art from MGS. I figured his MGS4 model would be identical because they restructured him to look exactly like he did when he died.

Touché

Solidus was missing the opposite eye >_>
Solidus's skull wasn't used so it wouldn't matter, they just used Solidus's skin and grafted it on to to Big Boss's body.

I know, I'm just fucking with you :) it's weird they used that art as the base when his skin wrinkles, age etc would've been different from Big Boss's in 1995. Kojima for you I suppose.

Although, I suppose you are right as Solidus had rapid ageing!

You know what was pointless? the battle gear.

The whole plot was pointless, really. Skullface's character doesn't influence anything. His plan is foiled by the end (well shit, middle actually). Zero's vegetable body didn't need to be explained. Venom Snake doesn't influence anything. The legend of Big Boss and Solid Snake killing him in Outer Heaven are functionally the same plot as pre-MGSV. Paz doesn't influence anything since she's dead. Quiet doesn't influence anything. In fact she is optional even in her own game. Ocelot doesn't influence anything. He remains the same position as his MGS4 self still with no explanation for why he worships Big Boss. Beyond Mission 46 and a tape or 2 there is no interaction between the Patriots despite all 6 of them being alive during this time period making for a nice story opportunity to show what they're up to, development of their characters, or justifications for their actions. The dynamic between Zero and Big Boss remains largely unexplored. Huey and Strangelove don't influence anything. Their work influencing future projects in the series was already amply covered by Peace Walker. Code Talker and the entire parasite plot don't influence anything since they are never brought up again. The conclusion to that comes by the end of this game. Self contained plot.

Miller's descent into anger influences some stuff with this game showing why he might be pissed off with Big Boss later I guess. So good on that one. Sahelanthropus, Mantis, and Eli looked like they were about to influence some stuff but they never finished that part of the game.

MGSV is just a goofy MGS sandbox split into TV episodes starring a TV star.

I always wanted a Liquid game. Shame we'll never get that. He's much more interesting than Big Boss.
Same. Especially now that he has background to work with from this game.

We never know, though. Konami is going to keep on Metal Gearing even though Kojima is gone.

solidus presidential simulator 1999

Presidential campaign simulator*. November 2000 or November 2004 are the dates for his election since he had to be in office during Shadow Moses. James Johnson was 2008.

I can admit that aspect of MGS2 is goofy.

I always thought Solidus was the most interesting, mainly because I don't remember a lot about him (and most of what I remember about Liquid is BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR)

Holy crap. If any of this is even slightly real, I will lose my shit.
At first I was like: "BULLSHIIIIIIIIIT". BUT THEN I read the whole thing, and too much of it is remotely feasable. That twin tower skyline at the end of mission 51 is so out of place and unnecessary...

Between the the end of MGSV's main game and the epilogue in Outer Heaven the First Liberian Civil War happened. Solidus was raising Raiden and training him how to kill.

That would have been cool to see :/

Yeah. Especially since by 18 years old Liquid was supposed to be in the SAS and serving in the Gulf War in Iraq...Eli is obviously alot younger than 18. He gets captured by Iraqis and saved by the US in 1994, and then he goes and joins Foxhound.

Showing New York makes no sense at all at the end of episode 51, the SAS is base in Britain. It definitely is odd.

It's funny because when MGS games are necessary to the overall franchise narrative (a la MGS4) people complain and say that it doesn't need to be so self-referential and more standalone.

Then Kojima does exactly that and people complain anyways. Truly, you can't please everyone. That's what happens when a writer so bad he couldn't get into his industry of choice (film) gets lifted up as some weird game-directing messiah.

That 9/11 stuff is just extremely unlikely. It reminds me of the head transplant doctor thing earlier where people where connecting it to MGSV for incredibly stupid reasons.

Once nothing happens people will have to accept that Kojima just made a crap story. Whether that is due to Konami hurrying him or his vision just kind of falling apart is up for debate.

Sigh...A mechanically amazing game that is undone by its repetitive nature and fruitless story. I guess the game really wasn't needed. Its obvious that something went wrong somewhere with the script. What I don't understand is how was this overlooked in almost all of the reviews?

Head transplant doctor was such a weird coincidence. Especially because some guy that looks sorta like Snake could be seen in the mirror reflection?

All I remember from him is damning the patriots a lot.
And he had a Doctor Octopus outfit with Ninja Turtles swords. Solidus was actually pretty cool.

We should just have robo-Solidus for Rising 2

the reddit post is insane but it does bring a good point that the GameStop description originally said you were going to the United States and Russia....which is really weird because where did they get that PR info.

I just assumed Camp Omega was still in the game and they confused Soviet and US controlled areas as Russia and the USA

But if they played the game we did there's no Camp Omega...so where they did get the USA from?

prepare to keep your shit
Not one part of that thread makes you even the slightest bit excited? Even though I know it'll be a big bunch of nothing, I can't help but be optimistic, I love shit like this, even with the shit taste of the survivor 2299!

Edit: Top of the page making me look like a nutter.
