relative to what? 3rd strike? Compared to how popular street fighter is now?

If you're a college student right now, you were conceived the year Alpha 3 came out.
It came out for a popular arcade board and Alpha 3 on the PS1 broke a million sales. It didn't do SF2 numbers but it was more popular than SF3 will ever be.

If you're a college student you weren't born when SF2 came out, so fucking what? What does that have to do with anything?

Ehh A3 was very popular. Here where i live there were cabs everywhere for Alpha3. In the laundromats, convenience stores, video rental stores etc.

And obv the arcades.

The average gamer is in their thirties now. I don't really understand why people find the concept that the people who voted for her like her to be such a foriegn concept.

Man. Just give it up. You're are doing nothing but pulling information that "you would like to be true" out of your ass.

Yeah it was all over the place and got ported to everything. Obviously I can't pull up figures for this but judging by what I saw in the arcades back then it was probably the most popular Street Fighter related game aside from SF2 series and MvC2.

No kidding. There are tons of 30+ people on this forum. I'm 35. Yes, many of us played Alpha 3... In the arcade, in person. *gasp*

I was in 8th grade when A3 come out on ps1. It was so cool that Sakura(my fav) had a rival that she became my new favorite character in the game. Excited to see her at TGS *fingers crossed* 28 btw

I'm 34, I've played Street Fighter since the first game in the series with those 2 ridiculous buttons. To this day Alpha 3 is still my favorite and my 2 favorite characters are Karin and Adon.

Also my friends who I play fighting games with are all older than me.

You don't even have to be that OG to have played it in arcade. Im 21 and used to play it tons, though of course i was a kid and didnt know shit and just played Ryu/Ken/Chun. Never played Karin until Alpha 3 Max.

We had a chance to speak with Ono-san about this big announcement and what kind of research went into creating this character. He said that it was a challenge at first to figure out how this character looks and what kind of moves would be suited to him as Capcom does not have many Middle Eastern employees. But they worked closely with Sony and their Middle Eastern distributor Pluto Games and with their help they were able to make a character everyone would be happy with.
BornFree's sources on the money.

I'll be 34 in less than 2 weeks. Been playing SF since the first one. Alpha 3 was also my fav. SF game (aside from that dreaded V-ism) and Karin is a big part of why it was. She was the first character I beat the game with, in the arcade no less and was my main. I've been dying to have her in a new SF game ever since.

And this Rashid dude looks dope as fuck. I'm so-so about his critical art tho, but everything else about him is flames.

The finisher should just be his falcon kick attack.

I love how the illuminati is clearly apart of the story line not to mention story is supposedly supposed to be handled better this time around and there's a good chance not 1 single sf3 character is probly gonna be in the initial roster. Hell them being dlc isn't even a guarentee.

Well so much for Capcom's Anti leak policy.

Karin at TGS
Laura and some returning (Blanka?) at BGS
Zen and another returning character at PSX

You're looking at it wrong, buddy. They are obviously keeping things hush hush about the story, despite the fact that we know it'll be emphasized more in SFV than ever before.

If it has to do w/ Illuminati (which we know it does) and they want to avoid letting the cat out of the bag regarding the story/exact timeline, why would they reveal a SF3 character? The very fact that they haven't revealed any yet is the strongest evidence that they are saving at least a couple of them (easy money is Urien + Alex) as the final or close to final reveals. At that point the questions will be pouring in about the storyline.

I hope you are right it just seems grim like at launch with sf4 when it was just sf2 and alpha reps, I sense a repeat since they will probably sell the game more.

At least nearly half the SF3 cast is guranteed as at least DLC.

In case some of you don't know about the Illuminati ties to Charlie, someone did a video on the Life & Death of Charlie Nash comic. Spoilers for the Street Fighter V story are in this comic.
Basically Bison tried to control Charlie, & he ended up at the bottom of the ocean when Shadoloo realized that Bison's control went south. The Illuminati found his body & through telepathy, Kolin (Gill's Assistant) & Urien explained the situation. Charlie's body was dead, but his mind was preserved thanks to Bison's Psycho Power. Kolin convinced Charlie to work with them & used Charlie's memories as a bargaining chip. Kolin also explained that Bison's control failed (on Charlie, Cammy, & the other Dolls) because he forced his will onto others. According to the Illuminati, a mind can only be controlled if the person agreed to be controlled. They gave Charlie his memories back the minute that he agreed to work with the Illuminati. He agreed because for years, when he joined the military, he agreed to make his life not his own. He swore to protect God's creation, his peace, his justice, and turn his fate over to God. All of that changed after what Shadoloo did to him. After Charlie agreed to work with the Illuminati, he opened his eyes to find himself in a test tube with the body modifications you see in Street Fighter V. The modifications were done by Gill himself. This pretty much confirms that one of the members of the Illuminati will be in the game in some way, most likely Urien (if the Siliconera leak is on the money).

Even without the comic you can tell somewhat. He has the same jewel thing on his forehead. His body and limbs are partially green presumably because he's turning the same way Gill and Urien do.
Looks more like he's stitched together from dead body parts than anything analogous to
Urien or Gill.

Heh, I would let Kolin convince me as well.

Pretty heavy ties to Gill and Urien. Where dey at doe?
Karin at TGS
Laura at BGS
Alex at NYCC
Zen sometime in November
Urien at PSX
They could show Zen at the Paris Game Show. Granted, South Asia & Paris aren't the best mix, but they'd have to announce Zen somewhere.

Necalli is the boss now that I think about it.

Didnt Ken bogards original leak say , 4 new characters?

Rashid
Laura
Zen
New Boss

Perhaps Necalli was in design stages back then and didnt have an official name yet.

Where are you getting this?

Lol Just guessing. The Anti-leak policy comment was w.r.t Rashid actually being true.

I actually thought of that theory when Necalli was revealed.

So you guys are saying all of the cast will be announced before this year ends? Do you think they will announce DLC characters before the game is out?

Ever since Necalli was revealed, I've considered him the boss. My theory is that Necalli is tied into the Illuminati who are trying to discover the secrets behind the Satsui no Hado and Necalli is patient 0 (the first person documented to have used the Satsui no Hado). If Urien is in the game I can see him being the Sub-Boss and Necalli being the Boss.

If I recall, Capcom pretty much said that we'll know the entire base roster well before the release of the game (I heard before the end of the year as well, but I've yet to find a source for that). As for DLC reveals, I can see Capcom announcing who they'll launch for the first month or two (probably Akuma & Juri).

I think they will end it with a new character not a returning one.
I could see this happening. More so since, assuming that Urien is in the game, Urien would make more sense as a Paris Game Show reveal (since he's European, Greek if I recall correctly).
