Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

Well seeing as how siliconera announced R.Mika of all characters to show up, their list is looking pretty good. If the next character is from their list, it's pretty much going to be locked in I say.

I can't believe people are still hoping for other characters on release at this point, to tell you the truth.

Come on, those 3 countries (and China/HK) have always been super well represented in Street Fighter, not the same with India.

Well its only fair that the region with 1/8th the Worlds population gets represented by 1/8th of the cast :P

When's EX4?

Even if Karin is announced next week, their Urien and Alex leaks are still questionable based on Dahlgren's vague description of the set of 8 you expect to see in a SF game, and 4 you haven't seen in a while. Karin fills out the latter. But perhaps they're being coy with the language they're using to describe the sets to keep people in the dark.

So if Karin makes it in , Is Sodom the only Alpha character yet to jump into the modern era?

Poor guy , SFxT was a good chance to bring him in as Rolento's partner.

Its best sf theme, also its more alex than his.

Yeah you're right, not like ken was one of the most played 3s characters ever and that theme is more attached to him or anything.

Its not like when you heard jazzy NYC in a tournament that is was a ken player 99.99% of the time of anything.

If it makes you guys feel better, most people haven't heard that theme anyway because nobody played SF3. That's why we're not getting SF3 characters.

Instead, it was Ibuki. Like, what?

People don't appreciate just how much work went into SFxT.

Out of 43 pre-DLC characters, 27 were brand new from scratch.

TWENTY-SEVEN.

Then, with the DLC characters, 7 out of 12 were brand new models and animations. So, overall, that's 34 completely new characters (and, it's not like all the SF4 characters didn't undergo lots of changes and gain new stuff, too).

THIRTY-FOUR.

That's a heck of a lot of brand new models and movelists, especially when compared to most other new fighting games these days.

That's why they went with Ibuki instead of yet ANOTHER brand new from scratch character. Ono already collapsed once during the creation of SFxT. That should tell you what the work load was already like. Imagine if they had to also create Sodom, Karin, and whomever else people wanted from scratch.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that most of those brand new models and movelists belonged to TEKKEN characters. Meaning that they could never be reused in a future SF game, unlike when most 3D fighting game companyies create new animations. Tekken 7, for example, is still using decade old animations from old games. This won't be the case for most SFxT animations (heck, Capcom is already starting from scratch with SF5). Most SFxT animations were created JUST for SFxT. So, next time someone accuses Capcom of being "lazy", remind them of this.

No relation what so ever. Except they both throw Kunai(s).

SFV was in early development when Capcom was still working on Ultra, and it seems to me that Omega mode was a testing ground for SFV. But, what about Decapre? I wonder the rational they had when they decided to create such a character for IV instead of V.
She is a really innovative character that probably would have garnered positive response if she was revealed in V.

With that said, I believe we will see more of the Dolls down the line as DLC, having unique gameplay like her.

Imagine if SF 5 had decapre and no cammy. The outrage woulda been hilarious.

I mean Urien might be one of the most important characters in the story and there's still a good chance we'll get Vega over him.

Even the most comical SF3 hater would be bonkers to think SF3 characters won't show up in SF5. Nash has a gem in his forehead. Urien and Gill are in Nash's Udon comics. All of Chun's animations are from 3S. Ryu has Denjin Hadouken. Ryu has PARRY.

Lol, but naw...all hail SF2.

I certainly don't want to disrespect Capcom's work, and I love Ono. Game development is obviously cruel and hard, and I don't want to insult their effort.

I am just saying it's a weird combination of characters to be partners.

Especially when Capcom is like "what's that" and "who" when anyone asks them about the series and/or any of the characters that spawned that era being in a new entry of the mainline series.

Yup , Its like throwing in Guy and Ken as a team or something. Instead of making Cody for the game ( If he wasnt in SF4).

But given Sodom isn't all that popular , Rolentos/Ibuki team stuck out the most as super odd.

Hey, I've always been impressed by amount of work put into the cast of SFxT. makes it all the more disheartening that the game turned out the way it did. I would love to see some of the Tekken cast's moves and concepts rehashed.

whoah I thought I ignorated DryEyeRelief!

Oh, I just meant on the base roster! I'm sure we'll get someone from 3S as DLC. You add them once you've already built a fan base for the game.

Birdie is lowest on the poll, he wont be in SFV .
R Mika is a joke character, she wont be in SFV.
Urien and Alex are not popular, they wont be in SFV.

You know what character get ignored from II cast coming back talk? E.Honda. How funny if he is revealed next week, seeing how he's Japanese and all?

The problem with this is that we've already seen the select screen. It's more "Urien and Alex weren't in SFIV, there's literally no place for them on the roster".

He'd actually be fun to play now if they changed the HHS input I think, but he's definitely nobody's favorite character lol

I know you're joking, but birdie really was the only out of left field character for me. But I fear for DLC that lesser known characters won't appear because less people would want to buy them... Gotta make money somehow..

at this point i think karin is 99.9% guaranteed (as a student of science field i cannot say 100% for anything unless I have definite proof), alex and urien i will say also 95% confirmed at this point.

What do you mean? 11 characters have been shown with 5 remaining, 2 being new and 3 returning. Nash has a gem on his head so illuminati involved which means at least 1 SF3 rep, and Im a betting man and still believe the Siliconera rumor to be true and we get another too.

I wouldn't say 95% sure due to the recent comments by Capcom. At the same time, I wouldn't say that they have a 12% chance of getting in. Maybe somewhere between the 60's & 80's.

Three returning, but two from SF4 and the other probably being Karin. I really really doubt we'll see a single SF3 character. Maybe they'll show up in the story?

Alex and Urien aren't "classic" or "expected" or any of those things that people said about the characters on the left. They're either all previously SF2 or all SF4, either way it's neither of those dudes.
