So I'm actually kind of having fun playing Chapter 2 after feeling really worn out and despondent after the end of Ch.1. Since looking up the ending and deciding I really don't give a fuck about the story, I feel kind of liberated. The missions I was most dreading have actually been the most enjoyable (total stealth / extreme / subsistence replays). I feel like you're forced you to really learn the game and when your crazy plan works it really feels great. Like the "total stealth" rescue of the bionics guy was amazing:

Snuck up the hill, mortared the power supply, then rushed through the darkened camp with D-dog to grab the prisoner, Fulton him, then hopped on a nearby shipping container and Fultoned myself the fuck outta there. No one knew what hit them, was awesome.

Here is a video I found showing the PC version weapon customisation bug. Just make your selections with left click, not enter or a gamepad button.

EDIT: Just confirming that even if you transfer a weapons clip over to another weapon (like the tranq rounds into an assault rifle) it'll still just fire the weapons default ammo. Clip is purely for clip/reserve ammo size. No sleepy rockets sadly.

For every Quiet there is a Cassandra (DA) or Elena. It probably evens out.
If only this were the case, it'll hopefully be the case in a few years. Hopefully. This was a great e3.

That's a massive oversight. I kinda want that pistol tho.

I didn't even go that that crazy man. Literally sprint, climb a crack, get a few guards in a line, fulton prisoner, fulton me. In and out in like 2 minutes.

What did Code Talker say that implies Cipher? All I remember is eyes on kazuhira, don't remember what was before.
No, you're right, I should've clarified. He is accused outright by Emmerich to be a traitor in contact with Cipher, while it's only implied there's something not right with him by Code Talker in that "eyes on Kazuhiro" mini cutscene.

This is amazing.

Granted Iv never played God of war, but isn't it running on revenge fantasy 101?
The fact he murders his family isn't the fantasy, the fact he can murder everyone involved because he's so powerful and muscly is.

I don't want to be a moron who grunts and kills everything in his path, to the point of
condemning the entire world because of his stupidity
. The entire power fantasy concept is quite flawed, in my opinion, just because it seems to rely on "what men would want to be, rather than what women find attractive". Many men would choose to be what women find attractive over an idiot who murders people any day. It's a fragile concept that is way too malleable to mean whatever the hell you want it to mean in any given context.

I agree with this

Also I like Quiet and while I think the justification for her outfit is flimsy at best, it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the fucking writhing and moaning she does in the chopper and in her cell. And the rain scene. That shit is embarrassing. The fact that I care about her at all is entirely due to the fantastic facial capture of Stefanie Joosten and the fact that her actual character arc is pretty tragic. Doesn't excuse the camera ogling her at every opportunity.

Yep, the worst thing about Quiet's treatment in the game is that it actually detracts from a great character, unlike, say, Bayonetta, where the sexualization is part of the character. The game doesn't treat her as a person, but as an object. No matter the context of what's going on in the story, the camera will always focus on her ass or boobs, this is like the most basic and obvious kind of objectification.

I'm not that extreme about it that I want to shame people who like it though, if you enjoy it, well, have fun. But to me it's just a lose-lose situation, it detracts from her actual character drama while not beiong really sexy at all, because Quiet isn't "acting sexy", she just has her tits out.

Lol.

No. It's impossible to ignore.

MGS 4 ending was shit but could easily be ignored. It was just some insignificant bad stuff in the end, it didn't affect majorly the game.

MGS V story on the other end, is a gigantic plot twist shit out of Kojima's ass (hell he could even bring up time travel now, nothing is coherent within the MGS world anymore), that makes you play as a phony the whole game.

How can you forget about it while replaying ? As well as learning about all the missing parts and actual ending of the game ?

It was a great game when you didn't know what was coming, but knowing what's ahead, it's definitely not worth it. The ending was so bad it actually made the journey awful. Not mentioning having to replay dumb missions to unlock more scenes.

I don't think you can forget, I just think the game is really really good. I think the stories of some of my favorite games are unforgettably terrible, but I still love them.

It helps that my opinion isn't as negative as some I've seen, though, I feel more upset about the wasted oportunities than the actual story. I like Ahab's story, I just dislike what it means to the series, and how poorly developed his character was.

Nah. He's blind, he just doesnt want to confess it when rescued.
Then he goes all "From now! You are my eyes!" and takes his glasses off, revealing he has been blind all along.

Also.
Hos the fuuuuuuck are we supposed to extract all the tanks and shit in "A Quiet Exit"?
Not even the full-on real Stealth camo works.

If he is indeed blind, he has amazing spatial awareness cause he's always looking exactly where needs to be looked during scenes.

So, soliders around MB are starting to say things like "I don't care who you are, I only take orders from you, Boss."

It's like they know.... but there's no possible way they should know.

In my headcannon, I chalk it up to rumors spreading and some taking it more to heart than others. Otherwise, I don't see how they would either.

Personally, it also gets me thinking of some interesting story possibilities that'll never happen.

I think it's just a bit of foreshadowing that isn't supposed to be taken as part of the narrative. Kinda like the reflex, I don't think your reflex is supposed to show your previous face, that's not how facial reconstruction surgery works.

EDIT: Or rather, it is part of the narrative, but not part of the "in-game narrative", if that makes any sense. That's the game talking to you, not to its universe.

My problem with Quiet isn't objectification or sexism.

It's the fact that her outfit adds nothing to her character, it only serves to detract and overshadow her story line. I'd probably have developed much more empathy for the character if she acted like a normal human being instead of looking like a cheap stripper and even serving as one throughout entire scenes.

I also think it's cheap and lazy from Kojima, just like his poorly thought out twist. There are other, more classy, ways of giving a female character sex appeal than simply making them half naked.

she isn't a great character, she is someone who fell in love with the boss for no reason other than the "legend". She is a weak character, but everyone is going on about boobs and trying to pretend that even without them she would be great.

Imagine the whole game would be Chapter 1 and then after the true ending the camera swings to the back of Big Boss, the HUD comes in. You're now Big Boss.

1st part of Chapter 2: find Solid Snake and kill him.
2nd part is go and build Outer Heaven.
3rd part is betraying Venom Snake.
4rd part playing as Solid Snake killing "Big Boss' phantom"

Best game ever, 100/10.

Edit: Note, Solid Snake should be voiced by Ryan Gosling.

Well, maybe not great, but definitely one of the better characters in the game, imo. Her last mission has some badass anime bullshit, and I love it. It definitely bothered me a lot more after the game came out than before.

I honestly think that the 2nd part would have been you playing as the real BB.
But we will never know.

I just finished the game. I don't understand.

In Metal Gear 1, Solid Snake kills (or at least try) the phantom of Big Boss, right ? So in Metal Gear 2, it's still the phantom of Big Boss, right (since the phantom survived at the end of MG1) ?

So what the real Big Boss has been up to for all this time ? Build Outer Heaven ?

I'm fucking lost. KOJIMAAAAAAA.

He kills the Phantom in MG1. Kills the real Big Boss in MG2. At least that's how I understood it.

It says in the timeline at the end. In Metal Gear 1, Solid Snake kills Boss' phantom in Outer Heaven (even though the game says Big Boss went to build Outer Heaven while the phantom was off doing whatever, but hey). In Metal Gear 2, Snake "kills" Big Boss but the Patriots recover his body and put him in a comatose state, which is revealed in MGS4. So that's it, the phantom is simply killed by Snake in Outer Heaven.

Tbh, the only good potrayed character in this game is Huey, maybe Kaz too. But everybody else feels bland. Quiet has her moments though, like her ending.

Venom had amazing potential, but he was too busy staring at nothing and thinking about his waifu to actually be a character.

MG1 is phantom aka Venom
MG2 is OG big boss.

BB didn't die from the burns, he was in a near death state and then put in an artificial nanomachine enduced coma by the patriots, eva and co used solidus's parts to re-create his body and his nanomachine coma wore off when old-snake turned off the AI's in MGS4.

I am more confused with the Foxhound stuff. How does BB go back to commanding them.

Ok so when they said Big Boss (phantom) survived at the end of MG1, it was false.

Edit: ok thank you very much guys, it's more clear for me now.

If I am correct, the real BB would be building Outer Heaven and commanding Foxhound at the same time. Venom would then take over Outer Heaven in MG1

i think that is it

That would be the best line in the history of videogames when Armstrong came back in MGR2, too bad it'll never happen :')

it really is how the game felt. I was half expecting them to explain Volgin and the cobra units abilities by them

They even have a good outfit for quiet in the game with the gray xof uniform.

But instead it's that pandering bullshit that's pushed everywhere. bah

Volgin: His electricity powers came from his suit that generated electric currents. He came back to life with his will and lust for revenge against Big Boss. Mantis picks up on this sort of thing and summons him as the Man on Fire.

Cobra Members: Parasites
