Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

They want the microtransaction money from costumes and stuff- they're not going to let you get everything for 60 bucks.

Yeah. If you think about it, the only reason why they would ever make another disc is to supply tournament organizers with them. Making discs (of course not requiring them) a year or two down the line means they make less money as they would have to sell it for $60 or fewer so they would lose out on money from potential character buys.

No, they said you'd only "have to buy" one disc.

This is true. However, why would they even want to make another disc? For advertisement?

They will keep making more costumes and stuff though so there will still be microtransactions to buy. The idea is to give an incentive for someone who already have to game to pay $60, when otherwise, he wont be spending $60 on microtransactions.

For the reason I mentioned above, and for new adapters/casuals to pick up the game at full price years after the launch of Vanilla SFV instead of picking it up used or at a fraction of a $60.

You can still have micro transcations. I'm just saying after "seasons" (or however they break it up) they can put out another disc for people who just want to jump in at that point . After a "season" they'll still be making more characters/costumes,etc. Look at killer instinct as an example.

I've said it before, but my prediction is (assuming the game comes out on time):
-03/2016: Game is launched for $60 or whatever your region's equivalent is for a full-priced PS4 game.
-09/2016: by this time, the disc will be $40 or less.
-03/2016: by this time, the disc will be $20. New copies of the disc are rebranded as the 'SFV starter pack.' Fully f2p version launches with a rotating cast of 4-8 free characters which changes weekly/bi-weekly. They maybe have one more retail version for $40 or $60 which contains the starter pack disc along with a code for a bunch of fight money.

People spend a lot- there are costumes in LoL which cost $20 for ONE, and people buy them.

I'm looking more at MOBA pricing models- you know capcom wants in on that sort of money.

edit: oops, DP :(

They do, but disc releases will be more toward people who don't spend much money digitally, if they ever release a $20 or so premium costumes for SFV, they probably wont include them in a $60 package.

I also think the game will go f2p eventually, but that wont prevent disc releases unless SFV becomes something huge like DOTA2 or LOL.

I know it probably has no bearing on her being in the game or not but I thought its a cute little thing to say it was prophesied that shed be in V. After all the year 201X can only be from 2010-2019.

Personally I wouldnt mind Ingrid being in the game, id much rather Q, Juri, or my main man Alex.
Sorry about the youtube bar and hud, im on a phone and had to screenshot, no pc and I was too lazy to look for a picture of her ending.

Come on people where's the hype for the Queen of Fighters?

I really like Karin's SFA3 sprite (PSX ver. had missing frames), the way her hair animates, the breathing and body animation of her idle stance

Dat walk animation doe

Hard to get hyped at this point still not knowing if she's in. I'm hoping for a TGS reveal though.

I wonder if they'd give her a fancy looking martial arts gi.
Honestly her design was OK, although it's something a teenager would wear :V

I think her old outfit is fine, but yeah it's a school uniform she shouldn't still be wearing it this long after Alpha.

I'm not really sure if they could make a gi look fancy enough to suit her properly. Ken is also rather affluent (Although not to the extent Karin is) and while the way he dresses does reflect this when compared to Ryu, I don't think it's anywhere near enough to fit Karin properly.

I think some sort of conservative dress or business attire would fit her best assuming they age her properly. Keep her hair the same and keep red as her main color, school uniform as her alternate and I think everyone will be happy.

Really interested to see if Capcom has the balls to chance her design.

I'm expecting her to keep her hair/bow and gloves while everything else gets changed. Probably just an elegant short sleeved dress.

Man I would love to play as Necro again in 3d. He won't be in the 16, but I really hope he's dlc in the future.

I'm hoping for him to get in, along with Dhalsim. That's one of my dream match-ups.

Ingrid is the epitome of guaranteed DLC monies. Q and her would probably pull in more money than some of the world warriors lol.
Yeah, the situation is probably pretty serious. SFV failing to meet expectations would be downright catastrophic for those of us who want to see Capcom vs Capcom or any other FG related projects.

If they want my money they had better add some more interesting returning characters, though. Mika and Nash are the only ones who have caught my eye so far.

I'll be sad if there's no Super/Hyper/EX edition down the line. It's Street Fighter tradition at this point. Just make it part of the free DLC.

Balance updates will probably given unique names, hence changing the title of the game when played in tournament. Sort of like SFIV:AE 2012 edition, which was a free balance patch to AE, but was given a different name to distinguish it from its predecessor.

Hyperbole aside was she really as popular as you guys say she is?

I'm still doubting Mika

If Siliconera is right, the rekka will be Karin.

People are guessing the new brazilian will be a MMA fighter, so that should fill the boxer. I hope they are wrong though, I would love to play as the brazilian, but I am not a big fan of boxers.

Outside Dudley, guy is awesome, but I suck with him. The only boxer I adapted well was Akihiko in P4 Arena.

Rainbow Mika is already our pure grappler. And if Siliconera is right, Karin will be our rekka character.

I don't think Siliconera is right because I don't see Alex and Urien both making the cut. Maybe one of them if we are lucky. Karin will show up at TGS though. The backlash at Capcom if they don't show her tmrw will be insane.

My point is that we already have our pure grappler, & will likely get our rekka character soon.

I think she's become popular through the years since Alpha 3 like a lot of characters. You could say that for a lot of characters that made the SF4 roster as well. Put them in the game and they might become a player's new favorite character.

I understand now, never played alpha series but I really like Cody

I know someone who never played 3S and liked nearly everyone from there who got in again except for ibuki but mostly because of her play style

I wasn't sure, but now thinking about it, Birdie, Vega and Necalli have some grab moves and CAs, and adding Mika into that, we are sufficient on that gameplay style. But by using this line of thought, Alex won't show up :/

I can't comment on the 2 new characters, but seeing the lack of certain types of gameplay, I think the remaining roster will be:

Rekka: Karin
Boxer: Rog, unless one of the new character is a boxer type.
Zoners: Sagat and Guile.

Urien could be a non-playable final boss.

That said, me thinks they will go with the Alpha 2 route, where each character has its own final boss.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Combofiend saying there may be other characters that have grabs in their moveset, but aren't pure grapplers like Mika is.

Change it to sub-boss and I agree with you. He might be playable on day 1 though if they do a day one edition or last minute pre-order bonus.

Hmm, not sure. But if he did use this wording then we indeed won't be getting a pure character like Gief or Hugo out of the gate.

Not sure where Alex fits into all of this though.

The Alpha 2 way was awesome. Considering where we all seem to think this is going Urien probably would be the final boss for a lot of characters if they did that though.

Alex has a command grab or two in his moveset, but he isn't a pure grappling character.

Alex's primary moveset includes
A short range bitch slap/chop attack, Stronger versions would stun opponent for around 1 sec. letting you follow with a combo. Light ver. can be combo-ed into.

Elbow charge attack, dashes forward with an elbow attack

Stomp attack, jumps into the air to deliver a stomp, range depends on Kick strength used

Jumping anti-air grab, if he connects he slams opponent to ground and deals damage

Command grab (HCB+P), performed stand alone he jumps and slams them to the ground. If used after the chop attack he does a stronger suplex attack

In 3S they gave him a jumping grab move, it was pretty shitty though
