I wasn't following all that closely at the time, but I was under the impression Decapre was pretty much assumed by everyone with the exception of a few conspiracy theorists think it was Retsu. Is that accurate?

NYCC is literally the perfect place to reveal Alex.

Characters don't all have stages, but this one is Karin's.
I agree, it would have been a nice place. And EVO Is the perfect place to reveal Balrog, but he's probably not in the game either.
That's not passive aggressive. Passive aggressive is saying "I thought you would figure it out yourself" and "Whatever" when proven wrong.
When the character was teased everyone called decapre. Ono said something after that, that he had only seen a few people guess correctly. This caused people to start guessing all sorts of characters, but surprise it was decapre.

I think they're not going to make enough for character specific stages, so they're going for shared stages like in other games. I think this is Karin's stage primarily, if you look at her promotional art, but the background with the moon and the traditional Japanese buildings is something out of Ryu's usual stages.
Man this has me even more hyped.
Ken's got that city behind him and there seems to be a desert stage too. We'll just have to see. I'm sure they are focusing on characters 1st and stages 2nd.

They'll get more hype if they reveal Alex and Urien at CapcomCup/PSX and leave the new characters for BGS and PGW..... also they might as well announce them together, because announcing one will confirm the other anyway.... and they won't overshadow each other like announcing Laura a day after or before Alex.
I doubt they'll animate that... plus it looks stupid when using alts..... like Ibuki pulling down her non existent mask in all her outfits.. but even more so.
Yeah I see it now. I must of looked past it like three times. I really need to go to bed now.

Haven't they revealed 2 characters on the same day before (Birdie and Cammy). How would that be any worse?

Because Ono likes to be at all of these reveals, doesn't he? And ones in New York and the others in Brazil. Plus of one of those characters happened to be Alex, he'd probably overshadow the new character. Compare this to two veterans being revealed at E3 together. This is pretty intuitive, yeah?
Yeah PSX/CC would be the better place overall, although NYCC would be hype as fuck for Alex.
Wow all that stat tracking stuff sounds like really useful data. Has MK, KI or any other fighting game done anything like this before?
He wasn't at Rashid's reveal IIRC.

A solution would disabling that intro for alternate costumes, or have all of his alts be stripper outfits.
I doubt Alex is gonna show at NYCC too, but who says they need Ono to show off a character? He didn't come on stage at E3 to show off Birdie and Cammy and I don't recall him being on any stage to show R.Mika too. They could easily show off a trailer at NYCC while Ono is showing off Laura or even vice versa.
Gotcha. Yeah especially taking that into consideration I think this is misdirection.
Honestly I was cautiously optimistic that the Siliconera leak was accurate, they have a good track record and I really wanted to see Karin back (Alex and Urien I also think are good additions) but at this point it's hard to imagine they weren't spot on with all four.

Well, they literally just did that with Rashid. (Not that I consider it overshadowing.)
They don't even need anyone really. They could just drop the trailer during NYCC (doesn't have to be the 8th) and then do a stream not long after showing the character off in a couple of matches.
Who cares? I mean, these reveals aren't blowing up the mainstream gaming press like crazy, and it's not like whatever interest/space is devoted to coverage can't handle two characters at once. The world will handle it just fine, no one's going to get 'overshadowed' to any tangible degree. At worst, they miss out on a chance to prolong the hype drip feed, but there's no shortage of things they can reveal to make up for a double drop.
I'm not saying it's a given that we'll see two reveals, just that it's not necessarily foolish or detrimental--unless you're willing to make get all Socratic about your understanding/assumptions of the coverage/hype/attention-span of gaming media, etc (fucking impossible, basically). Like unless we're going to use pea brained casuals are our convenient hypothetical barometer again, two characters at once is not exactly a deluge as far as gaming infodumps go.

Capcom seem to play pretty fast and loose with this. Necalli wasn't a charge in the build I played here in australia.
Man, I almost forgot about when Ono worked himself sick. I really thought he was done with Cacpcom then, (It was aroubd the time Seth left, wasn't it?) but I'm glad he stuck around.
I don't think it's overshadowing. I wanted Karin in this game as much as anyone but I still have Rashid fresh in my mind. It helps that he looks like he'll be really awesome too.
I am maining Karin for sure, but Rashid could very well end up being my sub.
