Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

I regret watching the Oryx streams. The fight looks great and I really want to buy the expansion, but £40 is way too much for what they're offering; especially after what they gave us with the season pass. Was hoping my drunkness would help me put my cash down but it's just vexed me more about the UK price point.

LF3M for the Raid, Xbox One. Going in blind. Ready to start when full.

Myself, purg3 and Tokubetsu at the moment. XBL message to Eric WK preferred.

How does weapon damage work now?

If my weapon says 160 and my light is 240 is that the same if my weapon was 240 and my light was still 240?

the new raid was amazing to watch over the last 6 hours, great work bungie on a great raid design.

there's no way I can imagine randoms clearing this as fast as vog and crotas end due to the heavy use of teamwork and needing a good light gear setup, a lot more strict then the other raids so far.

So wait, this exotic engram trick only works if you have a million strange coins to buy a ton of Three Coins consumables?

If so I'm boned, lol

I don't know how exactly that would work. To have a 160 damage weapon and you light be 240, all your other gear (armor, items and other equipped weapons) would have to be 280 or so each. The light is an average of all your equipped items, so the 160 weapon lower your damage output. I take it was the light is an overall range of how strong you are. But the weapon at 160 would definitely do less damage than a 240 weapon. The game and thus light just balances it out. Say you have a 160 weapon, it does less damage if you use it at 240 light, but assuming you secondary is 280, it will do tons more damage.
(It's an odd question, I tried my best, but it's really an impossible scenario you asked about)

Can I infuse armor cross-class? For instance, could a Hunter Helmet be used to infuse a Titan Helmet?
Yes. You should be able to. Haven't tried it myself however, but read it was possible.

Theres a newbie raid every Thursday. Find the member hawkian for more details. Also I suggest you just do the some crucible in the meantime to build up your Arsenal

Ok. Will do some crucibles tomorrow.

I haven't really touched it cause I suck at PvP so I doubt I'll have a good time for a while. :(

I am so glad I can use shaders now cause bruh lmao I ain't about that clownsuit life.

I downloaded the patch. I don't have any DLC's, yet. All the quests that I got handed seem like I need DLC to play the missions? Do they have any quests that I don't need DLC for? Perhaps I got bad luck there?

I thought the nightfall put you back at the start? Me and my friend were duoing it and died on the boss and it put us right outside the room.

My friend has been in that raid for almost 9 hours with a group he found on LFG. I'm not sure if they've taken any breaks during the run but it's just unbelievable to think about. On the one hand, that's pretty crazy. But on the other, I'm kind of jealous. I'd love to raid with him but I've got other commitments this weekend. The secrets of the raid are gonna be revealed by the time I get a chance to raid and I feel like he's creating a memorable gaming experience for himself right now. Going through crazy trials and trying to figure everything out, all the while turning a group of strangers into a likeminded team. I think his raiding party is one of the furthest ones out there right now and it's pretty cool to see his character get new gear on my roster.

so about how long do the new story missions take?

3-4 hours for the first eight ,which comprise the first arc of the story. Then four strikes open up (the best in the game to date) and a long series of quests called the Taken War. It's a mix of bounties and full fledged missions; someone mentioned it add 8-10 missions on top of the initial eight. And one short mission for each new subclass. I'm about 15 hours in and am probably 1/3 through the Taken War. (Spent lots of time on the Dreadnought.)

From what I have played so far, they're all better than any of the original missions.

I did nothing but the story missions from level 34 onwards and was level 40 one mission before the last. Really good pacing.

The actual levels, missions, fights and story for the Taken King quests were very, very good. Definitely the highlight of the game.

Yeah I thought I was "done" with TTK (aside from the raid) after those initial missions and that boss fight. Boy was I wrong. TTK is worth every penny. My only complaint is that some of these missions are frickin hard. Not impossible and it is end game content so I can deal with it but damn.

What's the best way to find Hadium Flakes? I started exploring the dreadnaught and quickly got lost. I managed to get 5 but it took me about an hour of looping around the masoleum and the court.

Theyre in the mausoleum in the rooms on the left side when you walk in. Theres also one sometime in the upper area thats accessed by climbing the thing that looks like a plane wing. They randomly spawn in the rooms so you just keep dipping in and out to check if theyre there. Theres a youtube video that explains it better out there

What is this trick you speak of?
do scourge of winter, pop a three of coins before you enter the boss room, kill the boss and yourself at the same time with a rocket launcher. rinse and repeat.

bring heavy ammo synthesis. i got 4 exotics out of 30 three of coins

It's crazy how many hidden objectives that are on dreadnaught. Found a few different items that lead to small quest chains with chests at the end. Also found another item that requires killing a particular taken each day of the week.

Plus all of the quests to work on at the after hitting 40 is outstanding. So happy with this expansion, totally made me love this game again.

Well, my friend finally called it quits on the raid. I can't blame him though since its been almost 12 hours since he started. He's disappointed he didn't finish but he beat the second boss at least, which he claims took about 5 hours.

Managed to get Last Word and Zhelo Supercell without cheesing that area people are talking about out of 10 coins. Not a bad day. Really digging the expansion. Just wish earning legendary marks was more reliable without a daily etc.

I think its safe to say bungie has redeemed itself with this expansion. I knew destiny could become something special and it has. So much content its almost overwhelming. Between the chests on the dreadnaught having multiple objectives to the "taken war" quest chain that mixes in bounties and some story, this is the best destiny they have put out.

Also getting a sword is fucking cool as hell. That is my "oh shit" weapon when i get hit with 2-3 majors at a time. Sword destroys them all. I also use it to revive people in strikes as you can defend yourself while you res. VERY handy. Also its just badass to whip the sword out and clear a room. Cant wait to upgrade it to exotic!
