Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

I'm still using my Matador in PvP until I find a proper replacement. I've also used my messenger on occasion.

Weapons and Armor normalize in PvP so level doesn't matter.

Gotcha, but there's not a way to Year 2 these, right? I have my bank full of everything I've unlocked. But I don't want most of them anymore if I don't need them.

I still have my level 1 rifle, the first one you get.

Because it wasn't really a spoiler... If it was it would have better context. Also VoG took ~11 hours

Edit: it started 2hrs 51 minutes from this edit.
Considering that VoG was everyone's first inteo to puzzles/mechanic based encounters in Destiny it's not surprising, especially since there's more of that outside of raids now. People know how to think for them.

Yeah we were just talking about that a few posts up. Playing the echo chamber strike for the first time I was think about how a year ago it would've taken a little bit for my team to understand the mechanics of that fight.

Traded in the PS4 disc at GameStop to buy Taken King for Xbox One for $40, because I already own the OG digital collectors version.

I'm trading in this "Taken King" disc (because the code is just in the case, and the disc is base Destiny) with Amazon for $33 credit.

So $7 for The Taken King. Not a bad deal, and I couldn't pass it up.

You don't need to kill them in the final room, and they don't use up your coin as they are not Ultras.

I don't know about that... when I popped the coin before entering the room, I only got 1 exotic out of 15 coins.

The second time, I would clear the room and pop the coin right before the boss and I got 3 exotics out of 10 coins.

I'd err towards popping the coin right before finishing him and yourself off.

Dude it's literally just luck. Only the boss counts

So obviously the improvements in the game are more than noticable and make for a much better and more streamlined experience.
Ontop of that, many of us spent countless hours on the game already in the few days its been available.
But the more i play, the more i become worried, that we will run out of content in 1-2 weeks again.
Obviously theres the raid, new pvp modes, but else...?
Exotics seem to be easier to come by, and generally it feels alot more of the same.
Dont get me wrong i love the game and I dont mind logging in once or twice a week for raid and nightfall, but i hope they keep adding new quests, exotics and maybe expand on stuff like prison of Elders.

Nope, it's random. You can check the status of the coin on your character sheet. The buff disappears only after you've killed the Ultra. Only benefit is that the trash can still drop Rares.

I mean, it depends on your content consumption rate. There is enough content in the game that not including PvP, you have probably 40 hours worth of stuff to do.

Obviously those of us that play more than the average user are going to digest that content faster and thus hit the wall faster. The game will then fall back to it's usual staples. As in, running raids, nightfalls, trials, iron banner, etc...

What is the character sheet? I don't see a marker anywhere in game that shows the buff is active.

I think it really depends on your interests and how fast you are going through the content. I've put in ~15 hours at this point, and I have done the new strikes just once each; no Nightfall or Weekly strikes; no daily heroic missions; have nine quests on tap and a long ways to go in the Taken War; have not forged any swords yet, have barely explored much less figured out the Dreadnought; have done a few level 1 Court of Oryx rounds; haven't touched the raid or Crucible; have one new subclass 2/3 upgraded.

I've seen some folks have put in enough time to plow through much of that, but given my current workload outside of Destiny I'll be chipping away at that mountain for several weeks before I ever get to the point where I'm grinding. And that's one character - my other two have yet to touch TTK content.

I feel like there is much more to do with the Taken King than there was in the base game; the grind kicked in there shortly after hitting level 20, which for me was less than a week after it came out. So I'm in the opposite situation - I log in and am overwhelmed with what to do. I set little mini goals for each night - knock out a strike, work on a quest. And stuff is still popping up! It's like quest whack-a-mole and I'm losing.

I feel like there is much more to do with the Taken King than there was in the base game...

I counted it up over lunch today. Right now I have 45 different mission to choose from on the Director, and I don't know if that's all of them or not. I know that 5 missions that I've done were 1 time deals that didn't come back

The very fist mission of the game

My Titan Subclass mission. (Obviously there are ones for the other two classes)

And a Variks mission:
that involves you taking on a Fallen Walker on mars with an Interceptor.

This actually puts us at a solid 50.

Again, this is just missions. I'm not including strikes or anything that involves selecting patrols to find a specific quest object.

while this sounds cool i cant help but think that a nova bomb would killed all of them by itself.

Sure, but it would have produced half the orbs.

The Hunter creates the orbs for having linked targets die, and then the titan creates orbs for the actual kills.

Thus their 3rd teammates just got a free super, and the other two are likely half full again already.

holy shit this raid
becomes even more epic at each boss, if you thought the vault of glass boss was big...

Not really a spoiler but I spoiler tagged it to keep it fresh to those not watching.

Tried some of the raid and it's a lot of fun but I need a better party I ended up doing more damge then 3 other people in the put together at the boss -_-

Wound up getting three exotics from Drakis.

Telesto
Four Horseman
Zhalo Supercell

The Zhalo is very cool. Like an auto rifle version of the Thundelord

I don't understand how infuse works, it says consume a more powerful piece of armor blah blah blah. But when looking at it, it just requires armor materials, mote of light, legendary marks (or exotic shard for exotics). Do you have to also use a piece of armor on it with a higher light level to unlock it? I got a repeat of the Stag at 290 light, so I should hold on to it while I can get rid of all my old gear?

You need all those things and a higher rated piece OS similar gear. You'll see when you click on it.

What is the verdict on the Raid so far? I don't want spoilers or anything but how is the overall impressions? Is it better than Crota at least?
