Scooby Doo is not a level pack, it just the caracters.
Ah, so it is. So presumably it would allow me to free roam around the Scooby level?

Damn.
Now I need a standalone LEGO Simpsons game...![]()

So are these super rare yet?
MUST HAVE PORTAL
The answer for both is yes. Levels have the Master for a certain number of studs, 1 head, and 10 minikits.I just have one question regarding the level packs...I know the story piece for each is not that long, but do they also come with things to collect?
Another thing I am wondering about is the characters. Do you only actually get to be the ones that you have the figures for?
Yeah, you get a HUB world per franchise.Ah, so it is. So presumably it would allow me to free roam around the Scooby level?
Honestly having so much fun building this with my girlfriend and couch co op!! The price is no longer an issue. Amazing!
Same for me and my wife.
Cost factor is not that bad compared to Infinity and Skylanders. You get more with the packs in this, yes they cost a few bucks more, but you get a character and a vehicle/gadget instead of just a figure on the other Toy to Life series. So to me the cost factor is not that off from what the other guys offer.

I went to the store, and they had everything, but man... I just couldn't do it. The prices are so high. Im going to keep following for more impressions. I really wanted to walk out with the Portal set and Simpsons set, along with the starter pack. I was surprised that everything was pretty much fully stocked at my Best Buy.
Odd question:
Game isnt done installing yet, but the reader will not seem to recognize the Gandalf base. Please. Tell me im not screwed : (
Im hoping this is just some odd glitch, or maybe the game needs to finish installation, but im gonna be so bummed out if this doesnt work.
There have been a large number of returns with bases not being read. It should work if the game will start. BUt if it can't start yet I wouldn't worry.
Ive started the game and when it comes to his segment, it wont read. It eventually started the cutscene, but once i got to the part where you see the portal in-game, nothing
Does nothing show up? Or just Gandalf?
It does sound like you might have another bad portal. There have been an atrocious number of reports.
I know I am going to be so disappointed in the BTTF pack...
Called it, the pack barely has a level. HUB is alright, music makes it. Lego DeLorean is neat though...
Yeah, but the level can be long. Portal was 8 screens and Simpsons 5. BTTF was only 3.Are all of the level packs just that, one level?

Dr. Who, Ghostbusters, Midway, according to the poster. We've also got what? Doctor Who Level Pack and Ghostbusters? Oh yeah and the Midway Arcade
Just Gandalf, Batman and Wildstyle read just fine. Im really tempted to just return it and quit now. It may be entitled, but ive never seen this issue for any of the other 3 games, and it really turns me off to hear this isnt a fluke.
Dr. Who, Ghostbusters, Midway, and Superman according to the poster.
I would suggest waiting for the Doc to unlock the BTTF HUB.
Those are the physical instructions that show you how to build the minifig only. The other build instructions are in-game only.
Here are the in-game instructions to build the Sentry Turret and Companion Cube.
True, the objects and characters are really good. The hover board is really cool to use.Anyone who's interested enough in BTTF to want the hub probably wants the Delorean. I think that alone is going to push people towards getting the pack, and getting Marty and his hoverboard are just sort of icing on the cake. The problem is it's like a cake made of dirt so, just eat the icing I guess.

Edit: Actually the helicopter is Joker's, it is in an odd position.
Yeah, I got all 3 levels + Scooby-Doo team pack.I've already got my share of content for the game.
So, having let the update finish and honestly trying everything i could think of, nope, my Gandalf figure is straight-dead. I submitted a ticket, but i'm likely going to call support in the morning. No idea if i'm better off just trying to get an exchange from the Gamestop i bought it at, or hoping Lego will send a replacement.
Either way, seriously re-considering jumping on now. The opening cutscene was super fun and i was all on-board, but i think any hype i have is dead now. Never had this issue with any Infinity or Amiibo stuff.
The Level Packs not having a lot of game content......I wonder if that was due to them originally being unlockable levels for the game originally but were cut-off to be sold on their own (Physical DLC in a way).
Because if the level packs are so short, that has to be the case as no publisher will sell a 20-60 minute video game for 30 bucks X(.
I feel that it was an issue that Travelers Tales didn't expect; making extra games outside the core experience (story mode and adventure levels). I feel that this issue will be gone in Dimensions 2 with more developers on board (if this is a success).
Infinity 3.0 has multiple developers making content:
-Avalance developed the Toy Box Takeover expansion, The core Toy Box content and the Inside Out Playset
-Ninja Theory built the combat system for most of the characters and developed the Twilight of the Republic playset
-Studio Gobo made the Rise Against the Empire Playset
-Sumo Digital developed the Toy Box Speedway expansion plus the racing mechanics for 3.0
-United Front Games is seemingly helping out with the Episode VII and Marvel Battlegrounds Playsets.
Basically, three-five studios working on one game...no, platform for games. Skylanders is no stranger to this either, with different developers passing the torch each year (Vicarious Visions and Toys For Bob) alongside having another developer making the 3DS and Wii versions.
If Dimensions is going to become a big franchise, they have to do something similar to what the above examples are doing. Or, just make a standard Lego game without the toys-to-life gimmick and having the cross-over idea in place. But, that isn't likely, as that exact gimmick is what lead to TT and WB getting access to all those licences for Dimensions in the first place (at least BTTF, Doctor Who and Ghostbusters I imagine).
Yeah, the biggest problem with this game is that they designed like any other Lego game, except cut it apart into having to purchase every little extra piece of content. I don't know where they get off charging $100 for this game to be honest, not to mention $30 per level pack.
Yes yes, brand recognition, but as a consumer, all I say is fuck that.
The Level Packs are beyond my understanding honestly :l.
But, the core game is a Lego Kit mixed in with Mini Figures and a likely very pricey portal (you can read up to 7 items/characters at once and has gimmicks with the core game); so the 100 bucks while overpriced, is somewhat understandable.
You are also getting three open world hubs with the core game in addition to the core story mode; you are getting a good 12-16 hours with the game with just the included elements.
Not as good as Skylanders (full game outside of a 30$ pay wall for the flying and water craft cars) but a bit better than Infinity 3.0 (3-7 hour Playset and open-world Toy Box mode). But Infinity 3.0 is a lot cheaper (by 30 bucks) so you could add the Inside Out Playset + Toy Box Takeover to the content list....making it about the same length as Dimensions.
You lose regardless but Legos are expensive....so that bites :l.
Well one thing I'm not liking also, that they didn't seem to consider when designing these games... Yeah, I think Batman, WyldStyle, and Gandalf are cool...but this story mode is completely focusing on them. Meaning, any extra characters you put on the portal just kinda act like blank slates. I'm not a fan of that, and again just seems like they didn't really design this game with the swap in and out nature that these games tend to have.
I'm not asking for them to replace the cutscenes with every possible character, but maybe at the very least have your voice actors do some dialogue that is reactionary to the locations you're in at least.
You should look again. There's separate instructions to build each of the various models there like the Companion Cube.
I just finished the Aperture Science level, and man... I could play a full fleshed out game Lego game based on Portal if they did one....it was kinda easy of course, but if they made more complex puzzles, would love to play more like that.
