Wasn't the Birdie one quite obvious. Didn't they show Birdies belt to tease him.

Yeah but the 2nd or 3rd Teaser pic was Birdies belt right. If that's the case Zangief belt wouldn't be surprising here.
Yeah, people didn't guess Birdie until the very last screenshot of Birdie's soda can with the skull on his outfit.
But you're forgetting one major detail, Birdie wasn't in SFIV. Ono wouldn't have teased Birdie if he was.

So he's made both Birdie and Mika really easy to guess before.
So its not as easy to just dismiss out of hand the obvious guess, because twice, it actually was the obvious guess.
I still think it might just be a stage reveal, and we're maybe looking at a turnbuckle.

Who says this is a character announcement anyway? They could be just showing off a new stage and this is a close-up of the ring.
Ono knows people are going to jump to Gief instantly (e.g. nearly everyone in this fucking thread) and he knows how to throw people off. He's playing you all to jump to conclusions and it's working like a charm.

I mean the Alpha characters that came out havent been in action since Alpha 3/MvC2 (Charlie)
But Alex was in TvC and 3S : OE is a fairly recent title as well.

I suppose it does , the last release Alpha 3 got was the PSP and that was a while back too.
3S : OE though was an actual title , which got much more money put into it than just a simple re-release. They had new artwork done for Alex,Urien..etc.
If you look at streetfighter.com the official titles mentioned there are SF4,SFxT,3S:OE and HD remix.
Nash,Birdie,Karin and Mika however are almost "New" characters for people who became a fan of SF after SF4. As there was no title they could play them in.
Edit - Well I suppose an issue with this , is that Alpha1-3 exist as PS1 Classics. But thats nowhere near 3S : OE's budget.

Yep. All of the returning character teases, including the teases from SSF4 and USF4, have been obvious. For some reason GAF decided that Dudley is the only character who can knock a character to the edge of the screen during their super, which was silly.

i'm thinking the red stuff on the bottom right is "color trail" stuff at the win freeze frame after a match, for whoever this is

Its not even mentioned at streetfighter.com as an official title.

What if that 'red' thing is actually brown skin but due to it taken with a phone's camera the color is saturated.
No one said that about the can tease. We knew it was Birdie due to the magazine leak before hand and this was confirmation.

Worth it for the netcode.
Zangief seems like an obvious choice so it might be him. I thought SF2 reveals this late would kill hype but I guess it makes sense if one week later they will reveal 1-2 more characters.
