Rumored Lumia 550 specs:

  • Qualcomm 1Ghz Snapdragon Quad-Core (presumably would be 210).
  • Rear 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED Flash Geotagging +.
  • Front 2-megapixel camera (no mention of an LED flash)
  • 8GB internal storage + 1 GB of RAM 128Gb + Micro-SD
  • 1905 mAh battery with rapid charger

That keyboard looks so thick, surely must have a battery or other stuff inside? Otherwise it is just adding to the bulk. I want more of these 2-in-1 devices to ship with the keyboard as standard, put pressure on MS to do the same with the SP4. Or at least give us a normal cover - you can't protect the SP3 unless you buy the expensive keyboard, even if you're only using it as a tablet or with an external keyboard. That is just stupid.

is the white 950\550 glossy? Might hold off for a surface phone, especially if it has an atom or core-m inside. Curious mainly about continuum and using it as a little PC on the side.

I can't believe I'm waiting for a windows phone announcement (since the new Nexuses are so shitty).
Hmm, I bet people are going to laugh at me if I get one :(

I know, because I already know I won't be buying either of them.

Bring the Surface Phone already.

White 950 is supposed to be matte, and I don't think 550 will feature continuum.

Say what you want about the 5X, but the 6P is looking fantastic.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the Surface Pro 4. Best laptop/tablet device available.

I'm gonna go ahead and hype myself now for disappointment later.

Potential rumor on the new hardware: 14-inch Surface 2-in-1 with Retina-class screen, dual GPUs, keyboard base with ports. Is it real? Hm.

I'm hoping for a complete redesign on the Surface Keyboard, with it 100% backwards compatible with the Surface Pro 3. I think that's the area where there's most room for improvement.

I love the form factor, but coming from Thinkpads I'm having hard time adjusting. I toyed around with Surface Pro 3 a bit, but the keyboard was just abyssmal. Hopefully they'll do something with it with rev. 4.

It looks like Dell is ready to fuck shit up.

4K display.
Two Thunderbolt-3 ready USB-C ports.
Backlight keyboard with glass trackpad
Thicker keyboard with dock
Active Pen.

The small keyboard is kind of thick and I'm not sure about the angles, but daddy likes.
Looks pretty cool when docked but the chunkiness of that keyboard is a deal breaker. Doesn't look very portable, at this point you may be better off with an XPS 13. I'll check it out physically before I write it off completely, though.

So how do you hold and use it as a tablet?

It shrinks the screen and puts borders all around, ignoring touches in that 'software bezel' area.

The 14" sounds almost too good - twin GPU? Surely they aren't aiming at gamers. The SP3 was already expensive, this sounds insanely expensive. I hope there is a middle ground 12" with a normal display but updated for skylake for better thermal properties etc, and actually affordable. Would be a secondary machine for me.

I actually want it to either ship as standard with the keyboard, or sell a separate basic cover with no keyboard. I often use a separate keyboard/mouse so a normal laptop keyboard gets in the way - propping this up on the stand and using my preferred keyboard would be ideal. But if you don't buy the type cover you have no protection if you want to carry it around as a tablet.

Twin GPU probably means integrated and dedicated GPU and not SLI or something like that.

I am hopeful that the SP4 reveal will also bring about a near release date... with a price drop in SP3, 'cause I want to get a SP3 (i5 128/4GB model) right now, but must wait until after Tuesday to see what Microsoft does >_<

Wonder if I could plug the Surface Pro 4 into the dell Keyboard dock. That is what I want to use as a laptop instead of the kickstand and the type cover.

We'll see how the type cover 4 is though. I don't dislike the type 3 cover, but it needs some improvements.

Surface Pro 4 might be neat with the Skylake inside.

I guess MS isn't going to just drop Windows Phone entirely but we're going on 2 billion Android + iOS devices sold by 2016 or 2017 probably, they are literally throwing good money after bad at this point. Well, MS doesn't really have anything else to do with money other than that, it explains why they've pissed so much money away on nothing over the years.

Holy shot at the Lumia's. I am so ready to switch back after my terrible experience with iPhone 6 and the absolute trash iOS 9.

100 million devices is nothing? Is this some weird hyperbole game where because it wasn't a goldmine success it's a disaster of epic proportions that sinks the company?

I've just never gotten this line of thinking. Sure, perhaps say maybe you can say that because it isn't the success they desire, it isn't worth the man-hours to continue development since they can reallocate those people towards more pressing issues. I could see that as an argument. But 'nothing' is bizarre.
