It looks like the 950 XL has a 3340 mAh removable battery.

100 million devices is nothing? Is this some weird hyperbole game where because it wasn't a goldmine success it's a disaster of epic proportions that sinks the company?

I've just never gotten this line of thinking. Sure, perhaps say maybe you can say that because it isn't the success they desire, it isn't worth the man-hours to continue development since they can reallocate those people towards more pressing issues. I could see that as an argument. But 'nothing' is bizarre.

100 million devices? LMAO are you including historical sales of phones with Windows going back to Windows Mobile or something? Where are you getting this 100 million devices number?

It's nothing because it has never turned MS a profit, it has no mindshare or marketshare and no hope for either, and quite frankly nobody wants it. It's a waste of money and there's a reason why MS shareholders were so angry during the Ballmer era when he would piss away money on anything and everything with little to no result.

Guess I'm not interested in Windows Mobile, either, since no one wants it. I'm sure MS is just going to announce the Lumia 950(XL) with Android tomorrow and be just another boring fish in a pond that's already overflowing with fish.
Nobody wants it? Sure is gloomy around here.
It's just his style of posting. You should see him in an AMD and Nvidia GPU related thread.

Lack of market share is a shame, although they have been doing OK in some markets. Also frustrating because it is a great little phone OS - a good combination of customisable homescreen without being complicated.

I think the Windows 10 combo is a good step forwards and if that doesn't work maybe MS will look at it again. But having a phone that is a natural extension of your windows setup at home/work sounds promising.

Shoot, I definitely want it, but I'm locked in with my iPhone 6+ for another year. I'll likely end up with a Surface Pro 4 and Band 2.0. I've been an Apple guy for probably 8 years or so, and on my 5th iPhone. MS products are definitely more interesting these days and I'm honestly just tired of Apple stuff continuing to get worse. Even iOS 9 seems to have junked up my barely year old 6+.

It looks like Dell is ready to fuck shit up.

4K display.
Two Thunderbolt-3 ready USB-C ports.
Backlight keyboard with glass trackpad
Thicker keyboard with dock
Active Pen.

The small keyboard is kind of thick and I'm not sure about the angles, but daddy likes.

Would like to see a Lenovo Yoga 15'' targeted at professionals / gamers. Thicker body, but under 4 pounds, over 6 hours of battery, powerful CPU/GPU, good temps, great screen, great stylus and screen, great audio, keyboard, trackpad. that would be a killer.

He's probably referring to the 100 million computers running windows 10 and the fact that windows 10 apps are universal and will run on the phone too.

The logic being that developers have 100 million potential customers if they develop windows 10 apps.

As an owner of the original Microsoft band and Lumia 920, I am very excited for tomorrow.

Definitely can see myself spending $200ish dollars on a 950xl with 2yr contract =D.

And as soon as my laptop kicks the bucket I will be picking up a surface pro. There will probably be a surface pro 5 released by then.

I'm with you on this. I'm ready to replace both devices with newer iterations for sure. This is a 3 pay check month for me so maybe I'll get the SP4 too!

There's a rumor that Google will come on stage at Microsoft's event and announce Windows 10 apps. Wouldn't be surprised if these apps happen

That would be an enormous win for Microsoft.

The Dell looks great but with Microsoft buying N-Trig I bet they will still have the best stylus out there (well the Apple Pencil looks amazing but the iPad Pro is too limited).

Google... apps? Like what? Isn't most their stuff web based? Though Google working closely with MS would be cool IMO. Beneficial for both parties.

Youtube.. Maps.. Hangouts.. Drive.. etc..

Having to use the desktop version on a tablet is annoying.. and it makes the appstore look ghetto as fuck.

Been saving up for an SP4 since my SP2 got stolen, and now I've gone and bought an engagement ring this month. October is going to be an expensive one.

My hopes and dreams for the SP4...in order of preference

  • 12" design size stays. Would consider a 14" model but would expect it's too big for me
  • New CPUs (preferably the non core-M model, but happier to have the choice of both)
  • 4K display
  • At least as skinny as the SP3, if not skinnier
  • USB Type-C port
  • More Type cover colours available for all - none of this retailer exclusivity bullshit
  • 8 hours web browsing battery life
  • Windows Hello
  • Thinner bezel
  • Improved pen
  • Improved Type Cover keys with slightly larger trackpad size
  • 2xcameras with autofocus

ah yea, I guess MS wants tablet versions and I forgot this is also a phone event so if all those apps are on the phone would be an amazing pick up for MS.

What I like about the Apple stylus is the tilt sensor. I hope the new Pro 4 pen will have one as well.

That's because the app store is ghetto as fuck.

I looked for Surface or pen-enabled apps yesterday and it was depressing. It even made me consider the potential purchase.

Surprised Google would do that. They seemed way past caring about Windows in favour of their own. Funny how Microsoft is more open because they have to for sure and Google regressed a bit. I guess the patent dispute they have going has now been buried, chums again.

I think a 14" would be okay, the Pro 3 still seems small in person.

USB Type-C would be shit, since I would always have to carry a fucking adapter with me. Hope they stick with full-size USB ports.

Google just wants people to use their services. And if that's on somebody else's platform then that's fine with them. ie, Google apps on iOS.
