Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

So has there been any word on PC players playing with PS4 Players? My friend just bought a PS4 for this and I really don't want to due to the expense and having to get a different stick for it.

It will be crossplay, next beta will be crossplay too.

i doubt many popular characters will sit out SF5, they will release tons of DLC.
it'll be like smash, most of the ones that didn't make it to 4 will be released later.

I know, I'm looking forward to DLC for the classic characters and the new ones, but I just don't see why Zangief had to be in the main roster, that's all.

Also, Street Fighter IV originally came out in 2008 and Ultra came out in 2014.

This game is going to get years of support.

We already have 3 types of grapplers with possibly a fourth, Alex can sit this one out

It's strange how people treat command grabs. When multiple characters have command grabs, regardless of how wildly different the characters are, people just lump them all together.

Yet, we have EIGHT characters with projectiles, and no one is whining about there being too many projectile characters.

Ryu and Ken both have LITERALLY the same moves, Hadouken, Shoryuken, and a Tatsumaki. Yet, no one is going to shoot down someone begging for Akuma.

Command grabs are just another type of move. Having one doesn't automatically make you "too similar" to every other character with command grabs. Gief, Hugo, and Hakan all fill entirely different roles, just like Ryu, Ken, and Akuma do. Just because people slap the label "grappler" on something doesn't make it a meaningful label.

Gief and Sim bring much more to the table than when in comes to play style in terms of this roster. I say that and Alex is my favorite SF character but he's not really bringing anything new to this roster.

Just to be clear now that Ono has started to tweet about "Blanka": did that Mexican event come and go already? If so, what did those tweets with the temple that alluded to Urien('s 3rd Strike stage) tease then? It can't have been nothing can it, not even a stage?

I think Ono was just sightseeing. I wouldn't look into it that much.

He was just sight seeing... like everyone who's not insane thought.

This. Something so many seem to not get or ignore.

Sim sure, game absolutely needs a zoner, doesn't matter who

Gief with Birdie and Mika in the game? Ehhhh

Yeah, but that argument seems to be arguing for his never being included AT ALL, as opposed to simply not being included in the initial 16.

I can see making sure that the 16 players that come with the game are varied so as to allow people a wider variety of play options as they learn the game, but as has been pointed out above, this game is going to have a very long shelf-life. It's being made with that in mind, even moreso than Street Fighter normally is.

At some point "bringing something new" playstyle-wise is going to be less about huge divides in playstyle, and more like smaller adjustments and cosmetic differences.

It's also hard to suggest who and what is actually bringing anything "new" to the roster when we still don't really know the entirety of the roster, and how they play is continually being tweaked because the game isn't done yet. Plus, considering how some of these returning characters are getting their play changed specifically for this game, suggesting Alex couldn't bring something new to the game seems really presumptive. Sure, maybe he gets dropped in the game like Cammy or Ryu, not many changes added. Or maybe he gets put in there like Vega, or Zangief, or Birdie, or Nash.

Naw, honestly I prefer more hybrid characters. I really want to see an expanded move set Urien :(..

Even Necalli is more similar to Alex than anyone is to Gief, so nah. The point is all the other grapplers are more of a hybrid style.

How popular is he anyway? Just a general question I don't really know, but they did give Nash his signature move. He probably has more of a chance than Sodom kappa.
Judging by gafs reaction the other day when I said wanted him in V, not very lol.

He's not a guy people really talk about.

The thing about Alex is that, if you take everything Birdie, Mika, and Gief bring to the table and put it together, you get 90% of what Alex unique. Almost everything special about him already exists separately in the game.

And the thing that makes the whole "they'll be DLC later" statement bs, is that "later" is undefined. It would be great to get Twelve in V, even if I have to wait 5 years. It won't be great when I have to wait years for Alex to get in.

God fucking dammit Famitsu, I wanted to see gaf's reaction to this

Now I wish she wasn't leaked because this teasing would have lead to some emotional breakdowns.

That's why I wished that Laura didn't get leaked. The damage is done. RIP Ono's Blanka Troll.

Shit I'm totally not getting my boy Adon then am I?

lol

Justin Wong said that he's arse so I guess we can't have bad characters in the game anymore!

Story mode?

It's just Gief using his CA.
