PS4 gets a new, lower price starting Friday: $349.99

don't have time to sift through 8 pages;

was it mentioned if the Destiny bundle will go down to $350?
You don't have to sift through 8 pages, all the bundles and prices were listed in the very first (and second, and third) post. Come on, people, at least read the OP...

old news bro

To be honest that still doesn't mean this is the reason why profit would be lower haha.
But predicting Higher sales with year over year being basically flat to this point meant they were going to get more units sold someway. With no big exclusives coming out until end of their fiscal year in March only other thing that could accomplish higher year over year sales were a price cut. So looking at higher sales and less income combined was the key to predicting the price cut.

Well actually he has a valid question as the Destiny bundle isn't mentioned in the price cuts.

And I didn't say it wouldn't?

My point is that a ton of Halo fans already have an XB1. Is that what you are disagreeing with?

And ton of Halo/COD fans still have 360 as well. And many people who thought halo is dead might pick up Xbox One if Halo 5 reviews very well. So far, the word of mouth is great for Halo 5. And everything shaping up to awesome.

So lets stop assuming how much Xbox One will Halo 5 sell because there are lot of factors here.

The grand majority of the gamers I know made the leap from the 360 to the PS4 this gen. 3 out of the 12 or so that I know went to the Xbox One becouse "Halo"...It may not mean anything but I think you may have a point there

So the Target $50 gift card promotion says it's valid until 10/10/15...does that mean you could be getting a last of us or uncharted bundle for $300 tomorrow?

Companies rarely use exchange rates to have equivalent prices in each country. For example, on Steam it's common to have a $1 == 1e rate when pricing games.

We can't be 100% sure what Sony logic was. But it does seem a bit weird that one country gets only a $20 reduction while other country gets $50.

Also EU has Vat while US don't.

I agree with that.
(Even I was saying there was a price cut coming)

But what I'm saying is that you can't say the definitive reason for a lower profit is because of a price cut. It may be a reason, it may have no impact at all.

ya, it must suck paying less than the US!!!!

We aren't making more money than we were before, its a recession. Paying less than the US doesn't matter when I'm earning the same amount as when the PS4 was $399.99 early last year.

Screw Harper. Vote well my fellow Canadians.

Best wishes.

I was just pointing out that just because MCC released, doesn't mean there aren't a lot more Halo fans that will buy an XB1 for Halo 5.

Was a wise move having the battlefront beta launch the same weekend as this price drop. The positive press is sure to sell some pre orders.

Lol @ that $20 CoD bundle drop, they must be really reluctant to let go of any margins on that! Not really sure about the impact, Battlefront and CoD were going to do astronomical numbers anyway but now it's not a question they'll sell out pretty quickly, especially the standard PS4 Battlefront bundle at $349. For Black Friday I would like to see them do something like Metal Gear and Batman at that price. Excited to see how/if MS responds and the way it all plays out.

All the gafers who read the decrease in revenue in Sony's financial statements a few months back were correct.

I remember a lot of people saying it didn't mean anything, or at least that it could mean something else other than a price drop.

Maybe I shouldn't have revised my forecast down and just stuck with the original prediction I made in January.

With current exchange rates:

CAD$449.99 = US$345.07
CAD$429.99 = US$329.73
CAD$399.99 = US$306.71

I don't know what people expect Sony to do.

Man don't give me that bullshit on exchange rates.
PS4 Price in Japan before price drop
JPY¥39980 = US$333.33
After price drop (current price in Japan)
JPY¥34980 = US$291.60

Funny how they have no problem keeping 100 yen to 1 US Dollar in Japan regardless of exchange rate, meanwhile in Canada the dollar drops a bit so prices must go up immediately.
The reality is Sony will just charge what they think people are willing to pay, and they don't give a shit about Canada.

The dollar being weak has nothing to do with the "recession" and it will be weak regardless of which party wins.
It was weak before Harper came into power, and it will be weak after, unless oil goes up dramatically.

Halo is far from dead.

The software will sell metric tons, and easily win October imo.

But on the hardware side? It will sell XB1s, of course, just maybe not the tidal wave that some expect?

Edit: If I was to make an October prediction at this point (just for the sake of it, it is not the prediction thread), I would say for October that I could see this:

PS4: 400k (price cut effect and leftover Destiny bundle effect)
XB1: 350k (Halo 5 effect, but 200k tops if a Nov 1st price cut is announced sat any point.)

I agree with that.

That is true but when you combine it with higher revenue when sales have been flat year over year it definitely feels like a price cut was happening.

Canadian consumers should blame themselves for electing the same shitty government since 2006.

Woah woah woah dere. Universal health care, strong financial system, post-secondary education subsidization, public services...etc.
Shitty government?
Lol.

On topic, nice to see the price cut, albeit expected.

I am glad I bought mine around launch in Canada. Paid $399 and only got it because some walmart employee fucked up and put them out when they were supposed to be holding them prior to the price increase. Still crazy that I paid less for mine than after an official price drop. Still worth it at whatever its current price is since Bloodborne and Disgaea have been fantastic along with the 2 years of other gaming.

I wonder if they'll announce a Black Friday bundle again this year. GTAV + TLOU is still the best bundle I've ever seen.
And also the one I bought
.

All that stuff was here prior to this government, so I wouldn't give them that.

It's just funny that I'll be spending more on a PS4 than I would have 2 years ago.

Told you so since April ;)
It's interesting that at the new price the hardware is still profitable. So they could have been even more aggressive.
But well, I guess next year 299$ and the Slim will do well for them, in the meantime these bundles will be really sweet this holiday season.
I expect Microsoft to announce their 50$ holiday promotion with the Halo 5 launch.

Excellent, glad I waited just a bit longer. Price drop + new model = time to buy!

Yea, it sucks, I am not arguing against that. I'd love to have parity with the USD, but calling "shitty government" because the CAD isn't at parity with the USD is ridiculous.

No, MCC sold 600k, a mainline Halo title sells ~3 million in its debut month.

Didn't Halo MCC sell 1 million copies in it's first week? And didn't the gap between Halo franchise sold without MCC and Halo franchise sold with MCC increase by 5 million from 60 million to 65?
