That's awesome.

Only played the first level so far but holy shit this game is awesome. It is the Transformers game I have always wanted. I was really hoping this was going to be good and had to stay out of threads with the usual armchair commentary about cross gen and environments/backgrounds which didn't even make a lick of sense if you ever watched a G1 episode for even a minute. None of that even really matters when you are playing a game that controls as well as this game does. Can Platinum make a He Man game next? Or GiJoe?

My initial gripe was only being able to play as Autobots. But now I can see how good the boss battles are going to be so I am really anticipating fighting some more of the iconic Decepticons.

These Constructicon and Insecticon challenges on commander... There's just no fucking way. Do you need SS gear to do this shit? I'm having a super hard time with 2000+ ATK power hammer thing.

So I've got free time tonight before I pick up the Uncharted Collection tomorrow. Should I grab this on PC? I still need to finish TW3 and SOMA, but I'm really not sure I want to play those right now. Is this worth the $50?

Yeah, it''s good and the PC version is very solid.

You are talking about with light attack and B/O together?
Any hints about what to expect? I'd love to know a few tricks to play around with.

Pretty much everything you would expect. I'm going back and forth with another technical player to find stuff.

Dodge Offset is incredibly handy for going into finisher quickly without having to commit to some of the start up frames. It actually works pretty different than in games like Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta. Even though you can still use Dodge Offset as you would in this games, this is incredibly handy for quick finishers.
The first part shows that even at a very high jump with a double jump, you can only get a chain of 3 combos into the finisher.

However, I show in the next part, if you dodge offset, you can get 2 or even 3 finishers in the air.

Here's a mini practice combo

Heavy Attack > (cancel)Light Attack > (Jump cancel) [buffer (air) charge attack] > dodge cancel > heavy attack > (dodge offset) > Heavy Attack > finisher.
(Yes, you can jump cancel in this but there is no enemy step)

There's so much more. I've got on the fly weapon cancel switching (DMC/Bayonetta), Charge Attack Buffer (this means you don't lose speed and can always prepare the Shoryuken).

Edit: And gun cancels very much like DmC

This rids you of the recovery frames of light combo 1 AND gives you the bonus of floating down that is given to you when shooting in the air. A pseudo-inertia like DMC4.

It definitely becomes easier with a hammer that does 3700 damage and a sniper rifle with 2000 damage. Headshots took out half the health of each constructicon on Challenge 2. I still got a C or something for all my work though. I haven't really paid attention so I wonder how big the bonuses are for time, not getting hit, headshots, and all that. I can't imagine rankings change to reflect your weapon right?

Also man, when I get swords that do 2000+ damage that'll be the day.

Took me like 7.5 hours to finish. Pretty good game. LOVED the group fights in the last few chapters and wanted to see more of that throughout. The final run and fights are very Platinum. Combat continues to feel amazing, and the super fast mix of dodges + gunplay is a really great addition to the Platinum combat style. We're that much closer to a legit full on hybrid of Bayonetta and Vanquish with this title.

I need a sequel. More Autobots, more Decepticons, more fights, more environments, more everything,

And lawwwwd this soundtrack is so good.

Is there any word on when exactly the Physical PC version is coming out? Shopto says it releases in 7 days, Amazon uk only says it's either not out yet or coming in 1-2 months (it has two listings for some reason), Amazon DE says November 13th but GAME.co.uk said it comes out Friday along with the other platforms I pre-ordered it from GAME because it said it was releasing alongside the console versions and I wanted the pre-order stuff (plus the PC version was a lot cheaper than steam) and I've not yet received a dispatch notice and can't check GAME right now because the site is down for maintenance.

Damn you all for making me crave this game. I just ordered it (for PS4) despite the lack of the original G1 soundtrack.

Just finished this and I enjoyed it. Definitely not Platinum's best work but I'd say it's around Metal Gear Rising. Wish the controls were tighter. Dodging does not feel as smooth as Bayonetta or Vanquish for example.

This game needs some enemy variety in the worst way. I know the source material is limited in side characters for decepticons, but fighting the same few grunts and a whole level of insecticons over and over starts to get a bit old

Just finished it.

This game is fucking awesome.

Don't give a shit about TF, bought this solely due to PG's pedigree, and man, they fucking delivered.

The combat just feels really good once you get the hang of things. All the game's systems compliment each other really well I feel.

I really REALLY want a fully-fledged balls-to-the-wall sequel to this. It really deserves a proper budget. Hopefully Bobby Kotick finds it in his heart to spare some more pocket change next time.

Activision really should've pushed this instead of fucking Tony Hawk.

Saito definitely learned since his time with Rising. I honestly see him reaching Kamiya and Mikami levels of badassness in the future.

So much, this!.

Damn near every track that plays when you're fighting, well...anything is 10/10 in my book. The music just fucking melds with the gameplay to form something truly spectacular. Is this...is this my favorite Platinum soundtrack?

Soundtrack (like many other things) was outsourced. Some company I'm unfamiliar with.

As far as sequels go Hasbro has announced that they plan to push 2 more Transformers series to follow up Combiner Wars; which Devestation is a part of. Titan Wars, which reintroduces Headmasters, Powermasters (rumored) and likely others. Sentinel Prime will be introduced to the series. And I believe the 3rd and concluding serirs will be Prime Wars or something to that effect iirc. So I assume there will be a new title within the next 18 months or so. Granted this is pure speculation and I have not played Devastation yet.

There is a sequel tease (I think?) in the ending for this.

They show some Transformer waking up like it's a big deal or something. I how have no idea who the fuck he is lmao since I'm not into the series.

So hopefully they already have some plans in place.

Just beat it today. The sequel tease was just too much.

Sad to see that Devastator & Menasor "exploded" though. A Defensor/Superion vs Devastator/Menasor HAS to happen if they ever put out a follow-up

Still haven't received my preorder bonus from Amazon. Emailed them and got a reply saying they were escalating my case to their "concerned team" and I can expect a reply in 5-6 days... really weird for Amazon. On the rare occasion I've had a preorder bonus issue with them, they've usually sent the code in their initial reply. Wonder if they were shortchanged on codes or something; did anyone here get their code from Amazon?

I didn't get mine either. Contacted support and the person seemed pretty clueless. Said they will forward to their promotions team to look into it.

Basically ordered from Amazon over using GCU just for the code so that sucks...

In a sequel, I wouldn't mind if they go back to a straight-up linear level progression. Although, I'm pretty interested in what they could do with this open level thing they got going on here. Enough so that I'm curious what a bigger budget plus post-Scalebound knowledge could create in G1 80's-lovin' Transformers setting.

Shit, even if Activision just suddenly decides to scrap a possible sequel, Platinum should still keep on the experimental ideas laid out here and improve them for own IP if they must. Especially this beautiful 'Bayonetta X Vanquish' combat.

... Bayoquish ... Vanetta ...

Also in the second
Starscream
fight.
Did I miss something? Why are we, like, dimension hopping?

So is Optimus' Energon Sword :D

I always did like that sword. Hope to pick one up soon.

Not He-Man, not GI Joe.

Platinum needs to make a Centurions game.

POWER EXTREME-EME-EME!!!!

Just beat it.

Great game, definitely the best Transformers game ever. End boss didn't live up to Armstrong, but honestly what could?

My order from amazon.uk ended up being canceled (seem to have ran out of stock) :( so gone and ordered from somewhere else so hopefully get it tomorrow.
