South Surrey-White Rock: Mainly because Tik has been driven so crazy by the 308 projection that had it Liberal, despite its Conservative leanings and a relatively big-name Conservative candidate

lol

Earlier on I found the idea of the Liberals winning here so absurd I was considering making some sort of ban bet, but now I'm glad I didn't because due to the fact that the Conservatives haven't let Diane Watts actually campaign in this riding, I'm coming around to the idea that the Liberals may stand a slim chance here. I'm still betting the Conservatives will win, but the Liberals will do better than expected.

If the Liberals do pull out a miraculous victory, it will be because the Conservatives bafflingly told their star ultra popular ex-Mayor to sit and do nothing while the national war room disasterously managed her campaign. Why they would do this is beyond me. What's the point in getting a star candidate if you don't let them run on their record?

Well, if you want to go scorch earth, feel free to dig for some pointers in here, although objective facts tend to drive conservative voters crazy :P
Luckily, I haven't run into the issue of needing to cull the herd on my facebook friends yet, mainly because my demographic just doesn't vote :/

No matter how much factual information I present I doubt it'll change their minds. A few days ago, I posted the open letter by the almost 600 academics against Conservative fear tactics, yet I continue to see articles about the niqab. During the Toronto Municipal elections last year, I cited my information all the way down to the actual studies and not just news articles to make a case against Rob Ford. All I got was a non response while their likes raised. I also don't want to be seen arguing on Facebook since I don't want it to affect my professional career in the future.

"Thank you @pmharper it was great to see you tonight & thanks to the thousands of people who came #elxn42 #elxn2015"

Apparently they spoke at it: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-stephen-harper-economy-voting-1.3276458

Crack Nation.

When do the polls close tomorrow--is closing time impacted by the change in the laws about disclosing east-coast results before west-coast polls close?

Elections Canada said:
Polls are open for 12 hours across the country on election day. The voting hours are staggered so that the majority of results are available at approximately the same time on election night.
Polls for the Eastern, Central and Mountain time zones all close at the same time (9:30 Eastern, 8:30 Central, 7:30 Mountain) while the polls in the Pacific time zone close a half hour later at 7:00 Pacific.

Ouch, in the face of that much ignorance, I don't even think scorched earth would work. Anything you said would only serve to embolden them.. oh well

Trudeau was in Winnipeg few hours ago, grabbed a starbucks with him and caught up on some stuff. He is exhausted and lost his voice and is literally running on fumes, he is very excited yet nervous. He talked after at St James Civic Center was good time.

You should have told him that guttertrash says hi, haha.

Trudeau on gaf would be pretty funny. Imagine the PM asking an internet forum about what console to buy.

I liked that rant by Brent Butt about the need for a return to Canadian values. Weve lost that under Harper, and his latest attempts at dog whistle, race baiting politics makes the need for a leadership change even more apparent. That sort of crude, cynical behaviour is the antithesis of the reputation this country built for itself.

The answer to this question is clearly "whatever his kids want".
I would recommend a Wii U.

Whatever happens on Monday, don't blame me... I'm voting for Kodos.

The rich commonwealth is currently a wasteland full of Conservative majorities in every country. To think that we will be the first to break out of that. I can't wait!

Why am I not surprised that Trudeau drinks $tarbuck$?

Also abacus found interesting data about what people are basing their choices off of in this election.
http://www.macleans.ca/politics/ott...-what-the-2015-campaign-was-really-all-about/

The Abacus survey, conducted online with 3,103 Canadians from Oct. 15-17, found that 36 per cent picked the economy, along with which leader has the best economic plan, as the top issue. Of those who feel that way, 44 per cent said they are voting for Harper’s Conservatives, 33 per cent for Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, and 16 per cent for Tom Mulcair’s NDP.

But that apparent advantage for Harper is overshadowed by his weaker standing when it comes to values—encompassing the set of issues that rose to prominence in the campaign when the debate focused first on how quickly to accept more Syrian refugees, and then on the Conservatives’ position that the niqab—the veil worn by a small minority of Muslim women— shouldn’t be allowed during Canadian citizenship ceremonies.

Of the 24 per cent of voters who said the election is most about picking the leader and party that best represents the values they want reflected by the federal government, fully 40 per cent said they are voting Liberal, 25 per cent NDP, and just 16 per cent Tory.
Abacus CEO David Coletto said the formidable Liberal lead on values and change could be decisive on Monday, which suggests Harper may have made a big mistake taking such a stern line on the need to screen Syrian refugees for security reasons, and then focusing on the polarizing niqab issue, in middle section of the marathon 11-week campaign.

A key tactical problem for the Tories was that the apparent popularity of Harper’s stance on the niqab in Quebec tended to hurt Mulcair, who stood firmly in favour of the right of women to wear face coverings, eroding the NDP’s strong standing in the polls in the province.

“What’s actually happened is the Conservatives thought they had a wedge issue they could win on that has probably backfired and caused their defeat,” Coletto said. “It weakened the New Democrats in Quebec, made it clear to voters outside Quebec that the NDP can’t win, and that accelerated a consolidation of change voters around the Liberals.”
Other issues the Tories wanted to highlight just didn’t seem to get any traction. Abacus found only six per cent of Canadians felt keeping taxes low was the top issue, and just four per cent felt picking the party and leader who would keep Canadians safe was what the election was all about.

With taxes and security hardly registering, and values going against him, Harper reverted in the final stage of the campaign to emphasizing overall economic competence. But Coletto said it would take a major change of heart on in the ballot box on the part of a lot of voters to make that concern definitive on Oct. 19.

“If voters who haven’t voted yet, and haven’t locked in their votes, step into the voting booth and ultimately decide that the election is not about change, but is about the economy, then the Conservatives have a chance,” he said. “They don’t have a big advantage among voters who think that way, but they do have an advantage.”

What's wrong with Starbucks? And I've only ever seen that used for Microsoft or Sony in gaming boards.

That or I'm getting really old and I don't understand kids these days.

Hahahhaha excellent plan backfire there, Harps! Spectacular fail.
Even if he has a chance to squeak by with a minority, he is guaranteed a defeat anyway. I'm glad my worst fears about living through another majority conservative government and who knows what further mess they have planned is almost over.
Yeah but Tim Hortons coffee tastes like concentrated dog shit mixed with water.
It's ok because the double double covers that up. :9
Just finished my overnight shift so I will be grabbing a Tim's on my way home!

Also thanks to everyone keeping the thread happening throughout the weeks! Loved getting immersed in both worry and hope during my work breaks.
Even Gutter's frequent incantations swere fun and perhaps that was exactly what it was. xD

36 more hours until some bitter/salty tears. I can't believe that I've basically become a LPC supporter by default. Thanks a lot Mulcair. lol

I watched Mulcair talk last night in my hotel room, and i hadn't really gotten the 'creepy smile' thing until i saw this. Yoooooooo, does he know he's doing that?

I hope ksharp posts if the Cons lose, his doom and gloom would be quite entertaining to watch.

He's doubling down on it at this point. The Tom Mulcair from that ad with him sitting in a coffee shop with a mug and laptop are long over
