Ok, easy way to download the HD version if you're on a Mac/Linux computer. Open the Terminal app (/Applications/Utilities folder on a Mac. Not sure where it is on Linux) and enter the following:
Code:
wget -O swepvii-tlr2_h1080p.mov --user-agent="iTunes/9.1.1" http://movietrailers.apple.com/movies/lucasfilm/starwarstheforceawakens/swepvii-tlr2_h1080p.mov

This tricks the server into thinking that iTunes is viewing the trailer and actually downloads the 1080p version instead of some reference file. The "swepvii-tlr2_h1080p.mov" file will be saved in your home folder.

Looks okay. Might go see it when the crowds die down.

Who the fuck am I kidding, I'm hyped as fuck!!!!!!!!! First night!!!!!

Yeah, I'm starting to see that. I asked my girlfriend, who is an avid Star Wars fan but couldn't care less about any other Media, about the trailer and she said to me "Yeah that trailer just seemed like every other movie trailer I've seen. Not really that exciting".

It doesn't changed my hope for the movie to be good (unless Boba Fett is dead) or my love of Star Wars. Just think the trailer was underwhelming is all so I guess it makes sense if it was more for everyone else who hasn't read all the Rogue Squadron novels.

That one instant with Rey shooting a blaster coupled with the music is AMAZING.

JOHN WILLIAMS MAY YOU ASCEND TO GOD STATUS AND LIVE FOREVER!!!

Two shots in the teasers leading up to this trailer aren't in the actual trailer: the one at night of Poe looking up while holding a rifle (love that shot) and Rey in the forest looking up at the armada flying overhead.

Remember when people thought Vader was coming back cause they used that line from ROTJ where Luke says, "my father has it"? Reading this shit about Luke being Kylo Ren is like that.

15 minutes of what? Plenty of great movies have shitty sequels.

... but you didn't ask about its quality. You asked why people are expecting it to have a bigger impact than M:I 3, Super 8, and Star Trek. It's a question so obtuse that I probably should've just left it alone.

People still talk about the prequels. Your post suggested that no one will remember this movie. That is what is wrong. Even if it sucks, people will remember it and talk about it.

Who was talking about the prequels 2 years ago? Also this movie will be good enough to not be remembered as bad. It will be bland and fit for mass consumption

Your average Joe won't talk about it, but the fans will. We still talk about Episode III over 10 years later. Stop being so negative

III was amazing, I dont think this will be

It's Star Wars.

There is no way on earth that people won't be discussing these movies for decades.

Forget the director. It's irrelevant.

Again, I'm wondering if you were too young for the prequels because I just can't believe you don't see how even those shitty movies commanded MASS cultural attention and instantly became discussed forevermore.

I'm not going to get into an age debate with you, I was in my teens when the prequels came out and even then I knew they blew. And how is the director irrelevant? We are talking about a movie not an immaculate conception. God is not willing this movie to exist. It's being made by the same guy that turned Star Trek into an action movie

You're talking like you've seen the movie. There is no possible way for you to know this so why argue about it? Is it just for the sake of arguing?

Read my original post about the trailer, all I said was Fords acting looks terrible (and it is) and the dialog is pretensions.. People acted like I shit on the original movies

I'm lost in the sauce over here, I'm asking what about that trailer makes it look like anything else but a big dumb action movie? Forget it's star wars for a second. What in that trailer makes you so hyped?

The Star Wars fans I've talked to off-line all think this is an excellent trailer. This might be an example of the interet making a sentiment seem more widespread than it actually is.

The ironic thing about "finishing what you started" is that Vader redeemed himself in the end

It's actually a reference to a scene in Return of the Jedi in which you can clearly see in the background of a scene that involves Luke and Vader an unfinished puzzle of two cats high-fiving.

After this movie comes out, Daisy Ridley is going to be like...Jennifer Lawrence + Emma Watson x infinity on the internet for the next 10 years

That's really more of a Palpy idea though.
I had a talk with an extremely devoted to Star Wars friend of mine the other day and I came to the realization that a lot of Star Wars' plots in the movies and the EU revolve around Giant Superweapons that the evil guy is always about to create or use.

Of course we had this discussion because we're fairly certain that the movie poster seems to have a Death Star looking thing on it and now we're afraid they're actually going to do that.

Time for Death Star III everyone!
Pls no

I dunno man, maybe she's a harsh judge (she's usually not though) but she is most definitely one of those Star Wars nerds that read all the books and she wasn't a fan.

Like I said I'm also a huge fan and I wasn't that impressed but that's because I saw too many of the checkmarks being met that all other movie trailers met in this one and none of the real Star Wars stuff really being there (except for the CGI parts).

What does Kylo Ren mean about finishing what Vader started, wiping out the Jedi?
It has to be aiding the new order in achieving the former status of the Empire, right? Vader didnt really do much beyond that. He always served as a general of sorts that fucked shit up. His role might be the most confusing in the original trilogy tbh. It gets even more weird when you consider he once offered to overthrow the empire and rule the universe jointly with Luke. Vader was essentially politically indifferent, and only interested in being powerful.

Agree to an extent with Fahrenheit. I expect this movie to be good, hope it's great, but realistic expectation is it'll be a bunch of fan service mixed into an average action flick. Again, wanting it to be amazing, but keeping expectations sane.

Best trailer in years

Crying so much

Will you please just be quiet and reserve your judgment until AFTER you've seen this movie? Stop making such a fuss over your opinion of this trailer.

rumor mill:

Hayden Christensen, who portrayed young Anakin Skywalker in the prequels, is making an appearance in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII. They report: "A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort."

Training?! That doesn't sound like a mere appearance from a ghost of Anakin. So that leaves us with two possibilities: Anakin flashback scene(s) or he is resurrected -- from the dead or as a clone -- by Kylo Ren, who is obsessed with Darth Vader.

You can tell all this from a trailer?

Can you please use your magic future sight tech to tell me how The Raid 3 turns out?

Is this a fanmade poster? It looks cleaner than the official one.

You're saying that if you strip the movie of its identity it would be bland and generic? That's an original criticism, I'll give you that.

So people who disagree with you should just shut up and not try and have a conversation? Why even have the thread then? I feel like you can't explain to me why this trailer is any good outside of saying "but it's Star Wars".

No not at all, i'm saying you take the same trailer, shot for shot. But instead of Star Wars it's called Star Battle, same actors, same dialog, no one would give a shit outside of people saying "Oh cool JJs next Sci fi" movie

You can tell all this from a trailer?

Can you please use your magic future sight tech to tell me how The Raid 3 turns out?

It's not magic, just looking at JJs past movies and the trailers content instead of having a fan fit over star wars music over generic scifi action.

I feel like you are expecting something out of the franchise that was never there to begin with.
