Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Didn't Sidious have multiple Sith disciples at a time?

Not in canon. Sidious first made an alliance with Mother Talzin but decided to kidnap her son (Maul) instead and raised him as his apprentice. Then he started swaying Dooku to his side, who used the alias Tyranus to help create the clone army until Maul "died" and was then properly raised to the level of Sithhood as Darth Tyranus (at least, this is the implication - it's never said anywhere that he actually became a Sith prior to Maul's death). Palpatine then started working on Anakin and after Tyranus died he anointed him as Darth Vader.

The Sith can have multiple acolytes, like how Dooku used Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress, or how Vader and Sheev use the Inquisitors during Rebels, but there are only two Sith (officially at least) at one time under the Banite rules. The only time where we know this was broken was when Maul turned out to still be alive and came back with the Shadow Collective in opposition to Sidious, claiming that he and his brother were the true Sith.

Idk if this has been talked about anywhere else, but I think it's pretty obvious her armor isn't meant for stealth. It's a means of intimidation.

And blindness. I'm surprised we didn't see more of her actually and no new Hux scenes at all as far as I can see. I have a feeling he'll be the Tarkin of the film.

that trailer was somber as hell. completely joyless with dialogue full of just about every cliche you could think of. still expecting this to continue jj abram's streak of mediocrity.

of course this mopey shit really sells so will make tons of money. but that would be true even if it was awful.

The irony here is that you're the one that sounds somber as hell.

Would you mind handing out a link to the thread?

Thanks.

It's on the front page of the Off Topic Community board right now but I PM'd it to you so nobody here accidentally clicks it.

Just ignore everything at the beginning of the thread though, it's all wrong and based on half-informed speculation from a year ago.

I'm in two minds. I like the way it looks, but the bits you see of the story look like massive pandering, that absolutely killed my joy for the Star Trek reboot films. If this is going to follow the same footprint of basically copying the original series but with new actors and a few old actors for nostalgia sake, I'm going to be really disappointed.

I think Han dies and Chewie has carried him to Rey. I also think the Carrie Fisher scene with Han is them embracing before he leaves to help and Leia has a bad feeling about it.... either that or Chewie has died. I think Luke will have a small part mainly towards the end and will be in episode 8 for helping to train the new jedi.

Yeah that's how I feel.

I bought some tickets for the first weeke any way. Hopefully if all else fails I can take in the nice production design, which star wars is always good for.

Didn't think it was possible to ever give a single shit about a Star Wars movie again.

I was wrong. That shit gave me chills. I'll be there day one.

It's great. Just great. I can't understand anyone not looking forward to it after the trailers. The movie might be shit, but the trailers have been awesome.

Well it is not like Star Wars has ever been the bastion of great writing.

5th time I see this trailer... fifth time I cry. What the fuck is wrong with me?

So happy I got premier tickets...

I think the trailer is great it gives it a more subtle field then a more action oriented vibe. I will say it didn't have that intense factor as the prequel trailers did but to me it's something different and I just hope the movie is good.

At the very beginning of the trailer they light shining through the cloth Rey throws back looks like a star field. It would be interesting if they subverted the crawl and instead of star field panning to a ship it gets ripped away after the crawl.

I keep watching this trailer and I keep tearing up. After the bitter disappointments of the prequels it looks like we are finally getting new Star Wars.

It's not like I'm some old fuck either. I was in second grade when Episode 1 came out and when I was a kid I just enjoyed the spectacle. It's only been in the past ~10 years rewatching them that I grew to hate them.

Count me in the camp that was trying hard not to be to hype about this movie. I thought the first two trailers were so so, but this one knocked it out of the park. The music, the homages to the previous trilogy, the introduction of the new generation to carry the series forward, it all struck the right chord with me. Count me in as a believer now. I'll be one of the clowns lining up in Jedi gear to see this one.

Perfection. Got my advance tickets for Saturday afternoon. They are going fast right through the weekend in Toronto, which is completely unsurprising after this trailer.

Given the rapidity with which it broke the internet last night, I'd say the movie-going public ain't hopping on this train with you. You ride it alone. Trailblazer.

Yeah, it's amazing the feelings it's conjuring up. I'm older and grew up with Star Wars but after the disappointment that was the prequel trilogy these trailers are just tugging all the right heart strings. Abrams seems to know what he's dealing with and I don't think we'll be disappointed.

FWIW my brother and I went to a midnight opening night showing of Ep 1 and it was dead silent when the lights came up. No clapping. Someone finally yelled out "That sucked!". We wanted to like it but we were so let down. It kinda looked like star wars but it didn't feel like star wars. I generally don't acknowledge the prequels and have no interest in rewatching them.

Some make this black and white and you might just have Seven Samurai.
