Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Only way this would work is if Kylo is a good fleshed out character beyond just 'bad sith man'

I think he obviously looks like a prick and I can assume we see him attacking an innocent village in the trailer, so he's probably not a good guy. But I think he's a Vader fanboy which is what's causing him to be like this in the first place, so it'd be interesting to see a scene where he finds out that everything he's been doing is born from misinformation.

Or maybe he doesn't care about Anakin per se and just thought Vader was an awesome asshole and wants to preserve that image.

Nope nope not gonna happen.

Vader was redeemed, why can't Hayden be redeemed? I don't blame Hayden much at all personally, he wasn't great but I liked him during some of his better moments in Episode III and again he's fine in everything else I've seen him in. Lucas just directed his actors like total bacon. Natalie sucked, Sam Jackson sucked, etc. and these are good performers.

Well I can tell you one thing, if Hayden Christensen's mug appears anywhere in this film I'm walking out and knocking over magazine stands

I have never seen a magazine stand in a movie theater. Are you going to go somewhere and find one just to knock it over? There is nothing that would make me leave the movie.

I liked the trailer..., what there was of it. Again I'm a little suspect that we haven't had any idea of what the fucking film is actually about yet.

I know that Abrams is all about his 'mystery box' but it just strikes me as hubris that he/they would just serve up a lot of fan service imagery to get everyone salivating but not actually give us anything with any meat on the bones.

I'm all for secrecy and surprise when going to see a film but to show a potential audience nothing, no matter how little, in a final trailer just feels a little 'off' to me.

I'll be there opening weekend with everyone else but there's something about the way that Disney is intending to carpet bomb us with Star Wars films from here on out that really rubs me the wrong way and this trailer reflected that.

Theres no way this isn't rated PG 13

Given that this is still Disney through and through I'd be surprised if it's rated PG-13.

I'd assume that it will be rated PG like Tron Legacy was.

BTW what theater and showing are you going too since you said you'll be in stl?

I'm on the IL side, by O'Fallon. We are hitting the Wehrenberg in O'Fallon.

I thought about doing the marathon at Ronnie's too, but its just too much theater at once, lol.

Nice avy BTW. I need to hit up NHL GAF so I can get some Blues talk in.

I hope it happens, as Hayden is really good in everything else I've seen him in, and it would be nice for him to get another shot under better writing and direction. Also love watching prequel haters squirm so that's another plus.

He's making F-grade movies with Nicolas Cage now. He's a goner.

Well, I've watched the trailer a bazillion times now. I think it's kinda bad still (like the previous one better) and cliche lines don't help but the music is so good I keep watching for that. I'm not particularity hyped about the movie, it will probably be not amazing or even good from where I see it but I'm very happy we're getting another Star Wars OST by John Williams.

that trailer alone looks better than the prequels to me.

Cant wait. I only hope it doesnt end up a set up movie for the rest of them with litttle actual substance. That would be a bummer.

We'll agree to disagree. I'm in love with the way Abrams has marketed this. What exactly has happened and is happening with everyone? That's the whole premise of the film--see it to find out.

Thanks. I got the 7pm showing at ronnies in imax

It's not a Walt Disney Studios film, its all Lucasfilm. Operating on it's own like Marvel which all of their movies have been PG-13.

Lucasfilm is it's own independent subsidary, along the lines of Marvel, Pixar, or ESPN. Ratings of Walt Disney Studio films are pretty meaningless.

Looks like the prequels but with much better acting and cinematography (though I liked the cinematography just fine in the prequels, Lucas did that slow zoom in on actors while they talked way too much).

Yeah. When Lucas directs and guides his actors by saying little more than "faster" and "more intense" over and over again with his shit dialogue, well... we know what happened.

There's a chance it could still be PG. Star Wars movies typically have no blood or swearing, and the guns are all sci-fi laser weapons.

I think what PG means has changed a lot though. When the original movies came out, you had G, PG, and R. Nowadays, PG has essentially replaced G. (Seriously, there are sometimes less than 5 G rated films a year) and PG-13 has replaced the old PG. I can't see this getting a PG. Even if there's not a lot of blood or swearing, the battles as portrayed in the trailer seem a lot more visceral than the old films.

Yes the arranged SW themes have easily been the best part of all these trailers. I wonder how much material is JW actually going to reuse.

Mmmmm bacon

My favorite part is finns face when kylo is coming at him. fuck i cant wait for that scene. we dont usually get a lightsaber duel where someone is completely outmatched and scared.

I don't think Finn's a Jedi at all. I think the poster/trailer are misleading. That's probably the first time he's ever held a lightsaber. I bet he's not even FS.

That setting and mechanical design is like several steps ahead of everything from the prequels.

No.

Miraculously he's more handsome with a metal mask on.

I still think Rey is the Jedi.

Finn is going to fight Ren, get his ass kicked and be saved by Rey and some fluke of force power.

Chances are they'll both be Jedi. There is a whole Knight Order full of possible Darkside users.

This trilogy looks to be about escalation on both sides.

No, it looks like the original trilogy but with much better modern effects.

Looks so awesome. I can't help but wonder going from these scenes from the teasers and trailer if Dice were told that in atmosphere dogfights would be the big thing in Force Awakens which is why that is what they have concentrated on instead of space battles for Battlefront.

My biggest concern is that the film will be too simple and too linear. There's a New Order, and then there's the opposing force, one will have a massive weapon, and our heroes must stop them because they hold the key.

It's so standard, it hurts.

The Clone Wars animated series did some neat stuff; there were arcs with bounty hunters hitting where it hurts, there were double crossings, triple crossings, and there was great insight into how the galaxy "operates."

I really hope the filmmakers take advantage of the near-infinite amount of possibilities and worlds to discover. Or it'll be like Star Trek Into Darkness again: boring as sin.

Guys this trailer just gets better every time. The same emotions keep being felt every time I watch it. I mean that is the job of a trailer. It's to get you hype. I know this movie won't be the best ever made. Just give me a good movie.

But they have nailed everything perfectly so far. Star Wars fever is back guys.

I also love how this trailer reveals next to nothing about the plot

It's a JJ Abrams joint, so worst case scenario, it will be another blue and orange infused, super slick, rather unfocused and woefully forgetable product with no soul at all, yet somewhat enjoyable.

Read: Nu Star Trek with 99% less pointy ears.

The previous teasers and the trailer already suggest it won't be like that - seems more like they've tried to emulate the style of the OT cinematography but using up to date special effects etc. Looks fantastic.

As for the lack of 'mirth' - I think that might be the case. The audience probably marines everything was hunky dory after ROTJ with the empire gone. That clearly isn't the case so you're already starting out quite dark. Then the trailer shows talk of the rebel victories and Jedi almost like fairy tales. So I think it might start out with the protagonists accepting the rule of empire and thinking nothing can be done, the discovering from the old gang that the rebel stories are real, and then using that to give them self belief building up to a new rebel attack.

Edit: I expect a love letter like Super 8 was to 80s Spielberg

Yeah, to revise the fucking script which wouldn't have existed at all without George. Read Making Star Wars and come back and tell me Star Wars would exist without him. Clueless.

Lol it's laiughable "HIS SCRIPT WAS REVISED BEFORE PRODUCTION!!!"

Well...no shit?

Lucas might not be a great director but goddamn if his idea aren't full of creativity and imagination. He pretty much gave the ideas for all 120 episodes of the clone wars, and they were good at worst, masterful at best.
