Is Kylo Ren really going to have the generic "kidnapper on the phone with a voice modulator" voice? That's the only thing that very deeply bothered me about this trailer.

I have a hunch from seeing it (I haven't participated in much speculation or read anything on this, it's just my own idea from the trailers) that
Luke might have gone Dark.

It's eating me alive but I'm not looking for confirmation if anyone actually knows anything real.

I think it looks cool so far. Some parts seem to tread familiar ground, but there is new stuff that looks exciting. I expect a solid entry in the series.

Yeah, it's amazing the feelings it's conjuring up. I'm older and grew up with Star Wars but after the disappointment that was the prequel trilogy these trailers are just tugging all the right heart strings. Abrams seems to know what he's dealing with and I don't think we'll be disappointed.

FWIW my brother and I went to a midnight opening night showing of Ep 1 and it was dead silent when the lights came up. No clapping. Someone finally yelled out "That sucked!". We wanted to like it but we were so let down. It kinda looked like star wars but it didn't feel like star wars. I generally don't acknowledge the prequels and have no interest in rewatching them.

I had the same experience. I went with a huge group of my friends to see the Phantom Menace, everyone was so pumped from the first trailer. Afterwards people were just shocked, like 'That was it?'. Somehow got my hopes up for ep 2, disliked it even more, and when I managed to summon the enthusiasm to watch the last one, I was just bored throughout and kinda woke up to giggle at the 'nooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuu' part.

Now I'm an original trilogy purist, and proud of it. You can pry my tauntaun toy from my cold dead hands.

kylo ren is a pretty fucking lame name, by the way. it sounds like something an online star wars name generator would spit out.

Hope this airs when i'm going to see Bond Spectre (although it will be in german -_-)

Lego executives are probably already rubbing their hands furiously in prospect of all the Star Wars Lego sales.

I'm going crazy. I kept seeing in articles the "It's all real. The Dark Side, The Jedi" being quoted but was sure it wasnt actually in the trailer.

I just watched it for literalyl the tenth time and realized I was so enthralled by the imagery right after the close on han solo that I was completely ignoring the VO.

My favorite part is finns face when kylo is coming at him. fuck i cant wait for that scene. we dont usually get a lightsaber duel where someone is completely outmatched and scared.

That scene where Finn and Poe meet under the X-Wing Finn looks at him as if he "senses" something wrong with him. Maybe Poe is a New Order mole.

Looks great but alot of it just... dunno didn't look like a star wars movie in this trailer compared to the previous ones. Don't know, just odd feel I had

I just can't get over the ' its all real' line. That was so fantastic considering his views on that stuff in the OT. And that hyper drive effect gave me a 'this is star wars' feeling that nothing in the prequels did.

Purely speculation as I don't read spoilers! But if Kylo is trying to finish what Vader started... dude's obviously missing some key information there, namely that Vader didn't start anything and that he turned good at the last minute. I'm thinking that maybe instead of, at the end of the new trilogy, just killing the bad guy, would it be more powerful if something happened to where Kylo gets the missing information gaps and realizes that his entire goal and motivation is working from a broken foundation, and ends up becoming good, or is he too far gone?

I think it'd be neat, and I'm ready to meet disagreement because it's Star Wars and opinions are all over the place and everything always sounds horrible to everyone, but what if Anakin appeared to Kylo right as Kylo is about to do something unspeakably awful in Episode IX, and talks him down from it and explains that his "idol" was a good person that went through some bad things but turned good again in the end? I think with good dialogue and performances that something like that could be really powerful, emotionally.

Yeah that was absolutely my favorite moment of the trailer. He's a terrific actor and you can really see how fucking terrified and outclassed Finn is in that scene.

Excuse my ignorance, but are storm troopers not clones any more? Finn is legitimately a trooper on the run?

Stormtroopers weren't clones at the time of the OT. Star Wars Rebels (which is canon, btw) shows us Stormtrooper cadets, and that is between ROTS and ANH.

Clones aged rapidly, but I don't remember what was the (official) reasoning for not producing any more clones - I'm not sure if Sheev got bored and shut Kamino's facility down, or if the "genetic material" (or whatever magicsciencey-thingie) of Jango diluted and became useless or whatever. But Imperial Stormtroopers aren't clones, that's the thing.

That would be straight cheese

Bullshit. George's original work is trash before it became movies where other people made it better. His original is nothing like the movies.

Bullshit. There's no denial that other players had a huge role in making Star Wars what it was, but it wouldn't have existed at all without George. No, his original draft for the first film wasn't great at all and he recognised that, but to say his contribution was trash is laughable.

Agreed. The payoff is going to be so great if Finn ends up becoming a Jedi down the road and goes toe to toe w/ Kylo in a future movie.

Fantastic. My rule of the better the trailer, the worse the movie, may make an exception for this one.

The imagery, the music, the voice over, chills. My nostalgia receptors are firing on all cylinders. My expectations are firmly in check, but I really enjoyed Abram's Star Trek movies,m (and I'm a huge Trekkie), so I'm, at the least, expecting to enjoy this one.

So much good stuff in this trailer that doesn't seem to spoil anything. I wish other marketing teams took this approach. Me and my wife just saw Crimson Peak over the weekend, and the trailers really do ruin most of the money shots and plot points. It's annoying.

This final trailer was more than enough to sell the movie, showcase the spectacle, all without giving us a 2 minute summary of the entire movie.

Execution is pretty important. And Star Wars is full of cheese. The way you're probably seeing it in your head is probably just as awful as one could imagine, but that's why we're not filmmakers.

Well I can tell you one thing, if Hayden Christensen's mug appears anywhere in this film I'm walking out and knocking over magazine stands

The best part about the new Star Wars movie that has me most excited is that George Lucas isn't involved.

I hope it happens, as Hayden is really good in everything else I've seen him in, and it would be nice for him to get another shot under better writing and direction. Also love watching prequel haters squirm so that's another plus.

Me too, just for thrill of seeing the war on peoples faces when it happens.

"I SAID ON THE INTERNET I WOULD GET UP AND LEAVE WHAT IF SOMEONE REALIZES IT WAS ME I CAN'T LEAVE THIS IS TOO AMAZING FUUUUCCCKKKK"

i live for that shit
