Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

None of the this movie's trailers have been very effective on me, guess that puts square in the minority. Just a bunch of random scenes, don't really know what to think of it still. One thing I definitely don't like is how it looks, though. Looks very plain.

You may have answered this already but...

compared to what Star Wars film?

I haven't seen a single one of these "supercuts" blending all the teasers & the trailer that does it well. Either they arrange the shots decently but drop the ball on the music sfx, or they simply just turducken the footage and don't even bake the bird fully.

They need to do a music video for this movie like they did for the prequels. We've heard no new music besides some dinky piano shit in this last trailer that probably won't be in the actual movie. Give Johnny some love, Lucasfilm.

dat score...

I haven't been paying close attention to this movie but the casting looks fantastic based on this small snip.

The thing that I don't like (im quick on this one but eh). will be that Leia, Han, Chewi, and maybe Luke won't be in the other episodes.. are they going to just kill them off?

I'm sad.

What? You're sad about a thing you don't even know will happen or do you mean that you'll be sad if it happens? :p

Yeah,, I'm just afraid we won't see them in 8 and 9.

But if they are not dead by then, you have to show them at least a little bit since they are and will be important characters in the SW universe. Oh and please give me a ghost Yoda, not CGI :)

If we're lucky. (How do we know he remained there?)

Wait, does Jar Jar have a deep back story for all the time between Episode III and IV? Dare I look it up on Wookiepedia?

In the Old EU he became an Imperial Senator with similar ideals to Padme. He then retired and stayed with his family till he died. He had a happy accomplished life.

In the New Canon (The Clone Wars series) he is still a republic senator and the boyfriend of a distant Planet's Queen, he later "helped" Mace Windu rescue her from Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters (Dark side using group, not siths)

after that, we don't know a thing.

Gotta say, it was kinda nice when Yoda warmly commented "The inocence of a child, that Gungan has" when everyone else was shitting on him

I have a hard time imagining Carrie Fisher, Harrison, Mark etc to make an appearance in all of them, it's kind of a too good to be true scenario.

I find it really likely that Harrison Ford won't come back- finally killing Han Solo may have been the thing that got him back to play the role. I don't really see any reason to doubt that Luke and Leia won't be in the others, though.

I hope the movie feels enough like its own standalone entity rather than just part of a trilogy. In the age of MCU and The Hobbit being 3 films, I feel like people have got way too used to irritating cliffhangers.

Idk why he wants Han to die so much.. I feel he didn't even liked the role to begin with? Or even SW as a whole.

(this is speculation)

Yeah, I think Jar Jar's character, like pretty much every single aspect of the prequels, actually got better as The Clone Wars went on, and by the end at least, my feelings toward him were more neutral than annoyance or hate.

Maybe it was because a character like Jar Jar feels much more suited for a cartoon than a live action feature film, but I'm sort of glad they kept him around for the series and made him pop up from time to time.

I hope there isn't any silly Lightsaber dance choreography, or characters flipping and shit.

They can incorporate the odd flip here and there and make it still look good.
The problem with the PT fights were that they were flipping and dancing around just for the sake of looking cool. It was all so over the top and fake looking. Nothing had any weight to it and it looked like a dance.

Aren't the choreographers from The Raid involved in these, or is that only episodes 8 and 9?

They really need to do so little to make me happy with the final product. These movies only need to be better than the prequels to make up for them to me. I know, I'm aiming low.

The dream would be that this returns the series to being an homage to Westerns, Samurai movies, and pulp sci-fi serials, but right now I'm just not sure judging by the trailers.

I'll never forget the opening night for the Phantom Menace. Hundreds of people at my local theater. Costumes as far as the eye could see, people talking with strangers like they were old friends. When the doors opened there was a mad dash for seats. Two hours later the doors opened and I will never forget the look of everyone. It was just like a bunch of people leaving a baseball game, wondering if they could make it home without having to piss so as not to advertise that they were wearing the losing team's colors.

It's not going to be the same this time even if people show up in costume. But if people walk out of this without that look like they just swallowed a giant loogey they've been trying to cough up all day, I'll call it a success.

That awkward moment when the only way to make a species relatable and minimally attractive is to give them titties.

Alec Guinness didn't like it much, at least at first, but Harrison Ford more or less didn't really care much. I mean, it hardly effected him in getting roles. He's old and has a stunning career, he's got nothing to lose now, whereas before he might have thought it might hurt his career.

My girlfriend heard I was hyped for this movie, and watched the trailer.

She was so intrigued, now she wants to watch the originals.

Guys... I'm pretty sure she doesn't know Darth Vader is Luke's father. She is from Korea, and doesn't have a nerdy bone in her body, and none of her friends do as well.

Cannot wait to play out this experiment...

The cynic in me says the aging of the OT might have unpleasant effects. There was that one gaffer who did the same as you, and ended up sad because his gf made fun of it. Lmfao

I doubt she will last through episode IV. Shit gets too nerdy at some point.

I will probably do it.

Like I know we had that thread where the guy claimed to not know that Vader = Luke's father... and I was incredulous as hell. No way this kind of person can exist! That's what I thought.

But honestly my gf's overall stance can be described like "what's a star war?" hahaha. She barely understands what this series is. She definitely grew up in a group of prissy Korean girls who really never touched a sci-fi movie or video game in their entire lives.

Yeah possibly.

But she dug the hell out of Fury Road recently. It's not as if she's averse to fantasy action.

The movies are too aged? Sure. But it's not as if I'll position them as timeless relics. I'm gonna say it's old as hell.

I know the mental numbers you are crunching... "if she's never seen it that must mean she's very averse to geekery". But I actually don't think she is. She was just... in a bubble.

Korea eh? Wonder what she'd think about the canon Korean webtoon adaptation of the OT.

The concepts are stupid (flaming guitar man for example), but its constructed very well so that its reallg fun

Have you ever studied war before the last 100 years? Drummers, bagpipes, bugles, trumpets, singing, sound blaring from helicopters - music and song has a long standing history with the human race as a way to rally troops, intimidate the enemy and serves as a reflection of the culture of the army.

The concept makes a ton of sense. It's a pretty damn interesting and out there way to incorporate a classic part of war culture but the concept of a vehicle blasting music itself is completely believable in the construct of the world being established.
