Do you think Halo 5 will live up to expectations?

I did say "some people" :P

I've read that from a few people here and even just a quick search on google "Titanfall best FPS" yields results that people think like that.

Anyways the point being, Titanfall is a good game and I think most people who have played it will agree with that, it just didn't have the content or diversity to keep a lot of people playing.

Oh well, some people are also Justin beiber fans sooo ;) Titanfall to me is incredibly generic. Add to that a severe lack of content and i dunno who can possibly think this, of all games, as the best shooter ever. Id love to meet this person.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't enjoy titanfall or anything. I enjoyed the time I spent with it as well. Its just not a game thats good enough to sustain a relatively high population

oh im with you there.

honestly if it had everything it does now at launch and THEN went forward with the consistent updates they did, man that game probably would still be played.

I wouldn't say it's the best shooter ever (that distinction still goes to UT2004 for me), but it's a fantastically realized game with a brilliant two-tired gameplay system.

No idea why Titanfall gets so much hate. It still deserves to have a huge community playing it, and I'm fairly shocked that it doesn't. Can't wait for Titanfall 2.

Halo 5 was the game that got me to get the Xbox 1 ! .....till now I held of jumping in, but this game, was the game-changer for me...long awaited!

I want a Xbox One for this game, and if I wasn't buying my kids their own PS4 this holiday I would definitely jump in. I think Halo 5 will meet my expectations fo'sho. I think a lot of casuals will abandon the MP after a couple months due to lack of skill, and since there are similar more casual friendly community shooters on the market (Destiny) they won't come back.

My expectations are pretty low, reason: franchise and genre fatigue (played every halo and nearly all major FPS games last gen)

I have watched 6 mission walk-throughs and nothing wows me - on the plus-side: it's a return to form (Halo3 + Reach) so basically more of the same with some COD moments mixed in and better graphics. The squad stuff is a turn-off for me. The problem with Halo for me started with Reach: the game-design looks "sandboxy" (hard to explain) but not in a good way: A map+ same assets over and over+ same enemies (new enemies still suck)+ some vehicles... is too much for me to bear after 6 games, because it feels like a recycled, though heaviliy upgraded engine. I would have loved to see a Halo done in Frostbite engine for example, because I preferred the more gritty and realistic look in one of Reach's live-action trailers. A scenario with MC fighting UNSC could have changed things for me. I'm tired of the Elite side-step move and Grunt midget voices after 6 games now.

So...

For someone who started with Reach/4: the game will be uber, no doubt
For those who started earlier and function normally: good - meh
For those who started with CE having the tendency to play their favourite songs 20 times in a row for 4 weeks = who simply can't get enough: god-tier

I've been playing Halo since CE and even if I don't like Reach and Halo 4 as much as the first three, I'm pumped for the next one... And I'm normal, thank you for your concern.

You're just bored of the genre. You're fighting waves of the same enemies over and over in any "war" FPS.

Sad but true :(

I never played more than about 15 minutes of halo (tried Halo 1 MP kiosk before), and the intro of Halo 5 impressed the heck out of me. The cutscenes, it seems like this game has production value through the roof.

Blasphemy, assault on the control room is the best campaign level.
Look, snow levels are my favorite and I love the showdown against the covenant in the Scorpion but the interior environments in that level are too damn repetitive and it really overstays its welcome.

Plus The Covenant tops it in every way imaginable.

I dont think ive ever heard one person say this about Titanfall. I have the game, enjoyed it, but no way would i consider it one of the best ever made.

It really is.Maybe not the best ever made but the best shooter out there since the release of the new consoles. The content was not enough. Wich was also a strong point is a weird way because with not many guns it was really balanced. The mechanics are great, the gunplay is good and the netcode was superb.

Delusional to think this in the current climate. I shouldn't have to explain to you how different the market is now vs. 2007 on a enthusiast message board.

Why not? Its the first major FPS out there, and with the COD deal going to PS, it'll drag more people to Halo.

CoD was going to sell more on Playsation regardless. Black Ops 3 is actually tracking to be bigger than the previous 2-3 entries. Halo 5 will not touch Halo 3 numbers. Halo 4 didn't even do Halo 3 numbers.

I bet splitscreen will be DLC in the future. This game will not exceed expectations. Too much hype.

P.s. i actually enjoyed halo 4.

There will be knee-jerk 9 and 10s from the press as usual for a Halo game. After a few months everyone will realize its just another Halo. Die hard Halo fans will of course love it. Same story as CODs and other formula games this and last gen.

No, halo fans don't just take shit handed to them like the masses that buy cod. A flagship series for a console isn't just another halo.

I don't have a real opinion about the multi, yet. But after watching the first few chapters of the campaign, it looks really good. I'm disappointed about the loss of split screen, no doubt, but even so I think it's going to live up to my personal expectations.

I have faith that Halo 5 will deliver in nearly every aspect, except the one thing I've been wanting since the glory days of Halo 3: Rocket Race.

I don't think you've experienced playing outside your region with dedicated servers. It's honestly worse than playing P2P.

I'd rather play a game on P2P where I have a 170ms ping when my opponents are playing with a 50ms-70ms ping than play with a 150ms (which is what I usually get with Titanfall on US East servers) when my opponents are playing with a 10-20ms ping.

Halo 5 Beta was unplayable to me. There were no players in my local server cluster, so I got put into the US Server every time. My hits wouldn't register. I'd get killed before I even saw the enemy. Grenades took 1s to leave my hand. All of this while the opponents were playing like it's on LAN.

And with Titanfall, I'm not even talking about some obscure game mode. if I want to play Hardpoint (is this the name of the mode where you have to capture zones?), I can't. There's no players. Same for the coop mode. Only thing I can play in my local servers is Attrition (Team Deathmatch)... So, yeah. I'm very worried the same will happen to Halo 5.

i play a lot of Titanfall and i can tell you that you are playing people in the East coast servers with pings of 40,50,60 probably most of the time. I'd go as far as to say it's rare anyone has a ping under 20. Having a ping under 20 is amazing, for anybody. One of the current best players in Titanfall plays with a 1 bar connection, and their from south america. the more microsoft expands azure the better.

P2P sucks, it sucks really really bad. Just hop into COD to realize it. I can't even stand Destiny because of it. IF i get host in Destiny i know IMMEDIATELY while it's rare to notice who is host in Azure hosted games.

People act like Halo 4 was some failure sales wise or something. It was the best Halo launch and the third best selling video game in NA in 2012. Best launch year for a MS Studios title too. Yes the population dwindled, but dont act like it wasn't still a juggernaut.

Nothing in 343s history makes think this will live up to hype. Also lack of splitscreen bloodsplatter, etc makes me think they have fogetten what makes halo halo to alot of ppl.

I will glady eat crow if someone other than Ryan McCaffrey reviews this game really well.

What a load of shit. What makes Halo, Halo to many is compelling and competitive MP play, and H5 has that in spades. Just because you were a casual Halo fan and now its focus is on something you do not like does not mean other fans forgot what makes a good Halo. I hated Reach and 4. 5 is a return to form and a very good form it is.

Fuck splitscreen.

I still think bf4 is best shooter available this gen.

Oh bugger off. I've enjoyed countless hours playing campaign splitscreen, and a decent amount of competitive MP too. Since Halo CE the series has defined local co-op for me. I've never had more fun with video games.

To me, a huge part of Halo is local co-op. I guess it's easy to be dismissive when you're not personally affected by a major feature cut.
