Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

I can't figure out the relationship of the girl to the old cast. I'm assuming she is related to someone, does she have the force? I really hope there is a girl Jedi in this movie. It's always some guy with a lightsaber being followed by a scantly clad girl with a blaster. Sure we has Asoka, but that is not a real movie. From the looks of it Finn has the light saber, so he is the young Jedi to be?

Now what would be interesting is if the dark side is compelling him to find Luke but he thinks he's on the trail of Vader's son in hopes of becoming his apprentice

What I've been wondering is: does anyone other than Leia know Vader was their father, and/or Vader was Anakin Skywalker?

Think about it: Leia, who presumably intends to rule, probably doesn't want to also come out as DARTH VADER'S DAUGHTER. That's um, that's not going to poll well.

And the only person who knows what went down in the throne room is Luke, and apparently Luke isn't around. Rylo might not even know Luke is Vader's son, and might not know Vader repented in the end and killed the Emperor. Rylo might just assume Vader was doing great work and this last jedi came along and assassinated Vader and the Emperor.

Far as I know Han is the only one who knows. Unless any new canon expands on it.

Han used a lightsaber once.

EDIT: I'm not trying to slyly hint at something I know, because well, I don't know. I have no clue how Force Sensitive the leads are.

Just saying that being shown with a lightsaber is not a guarantee of being a Jedi.

Nevermind.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Don't be an asshole. It's way to easy to casually click on a spoiler link.

There is a thread for this.

Edit: And even without a spoiler you straight up tell us that there is some kind of twist regarding your quoted post. God damnit!

Wasn't it confirmed that the lightsaber is unstable and the purpose of the cross guard is basically act as venting?

That's the reason I've heard a lot of for it to exist, yet that still comes across as a justification after the fact for shoehorning the crossguard imagery in there (Although to be fair you could described 97% of the production design for Star Wars as "Cool looking shit first, reasons later?", which does make it fun/funny to see people try to break down the hard science of how a TIE fighter can possibly fly, or why sound exists in the vacuum of space). If they do have someone acknowledge it during the film as a plot point or have Finn/someone slice off the ends during a battle then I could let it slide, but at this time there's no real reason why it couldn't just be a normal hilt with a funky looking beam. If they wanted to go with Kylo's first DIY saber there are more elegant ways of doing it. For instance, there's always some good ol' McQuarrie artwork to consult.

The bowl shape of the top of those hilts looks pretty exhaust-y, and the base being significantly brighter gives it that unstable look to boot.

Full of Sith had an awesome trailer discussion podcast with BobbyRoberts and people from tons of other podcasts.

Colbert is gonna put you in your place
What was the reason lightsabers are so rare? Is it because of their cores?
That and you have to know how to build one. An improperly built one could easily explode the moment you turn it on.

Aftermath is definitely on my to-do list. Aside from the info: is it actually good? I am historically a huge EU hater (sorry EU fans), I always felt like most of it was awful, and often undermined the movies.

I was never a fan of the EU either, hated the ridiculousness of it all, but so far the new official stories haven't disappointed and have managed to stay true to a lot of the characters from the OT and the universe from it.

Aftermath has some issues with the writing, but the story is great, as well as the characters.

Lost Stars is very good all around, both stylistically and story-wise.

That was fun as hell. Just barely over an hour long AND spoiler-free, for those looking to get into some trailer analysis without having to sweat a guest or two dropping spoilers. And I can vouch for the fact nobody did that bullshit thing where they "guess" about what's going to happen, and the "guess" is basically just phrasing a spoiler in the form of a question. I've heard that happen on a couple podcasts already.

Was rewatching the despecialized ANH the other day and curious what with Jedi being so rare in the universe during the OT why all the patrons in the cantina weren't freaking the fuck out when Obi laid the smack down on elephant man. Then again I suppose weird shit and tech going down there on the reg makes most of them passive to goings on anyhow.

Rebel Force Radio did such a terrific job for the second teaser, 2 hour 20 min discussion, they went through it frame by frame but their coverage of this one was really bad honestly, will listen to this.

Is it just me, or are those bridge officers rather small? Or is Adam Driver exceptionally tall?

I thought they were cgi aliens, but someone said they might be female officers. I think that person might have been right. So skinny female officers vs Adam Driver being like 6"3 or something like that.

Everytime I see that bridge scene with Kylo Ren, it reminds me of KOTOR for some odd reason. I can't wait to see more of him on screen.
There's a few scenes in KOTOR with Revan on a similar looking bridge and Kylo Ren looks an awful lot like Revan. That would be my guess.

So Ren has his mask on, but his hood is down. Right?

The mask and helmet seem to be one thing, so no hood or mask. We should see his face during that scene.

Vader's head is so phallic.

It doesn't look like it which is interesting. He either isn't trying at all to hide who he is, or doesn't think Finn is going to live long enough to reveal who he is.
Maybe his face wasn't exposed by choice.

I'm imagining a situation where Finn gets a lucky sucker punch and knocks off Kylo Ren's helmet somehow. Then Kylo turns around pissed as hell and ignites his lightsaber and Finn gets that "OH SHIT" face because he realizes he hit a nerve.

Actually that scene sounds entirely believable and may very well be what happens.

No matter how many times I watch the trailer, when the new variation on The Force Theme kicks in at the halfway point, I get goosebumps. Whatever black magic John Williams did to make that theme even more powerful, it better translate to the rest of the score.

I need that shit on loop. NOW.
