Halo 5 Multiplayer Coverage! (no campaign spoilers)

These were Spartan-IV's though, doing war games simulations. It fits with their Spartan Ops nature and the stuff they said in the game a bit. I'm not saying go flat out balls to the wall with insults or taunts, but having them do high fives or a semi-come at me bro was hardly 'offensive'. I didn't necessarily like them much but seeing what there is now, the former was much better than the latter no?

Additionally, can anyone who is playing tell me if I can make this emblem in any way in Halo 5? Can I have this design the shield with the crossed swords in these exact colors or no? It seems like I'm stuck with static call of duty or Destiny style emblem banners, and the icon customization of the past is gone.

Except pretty much everyone's reactions to the SIVs was negative, and doubling down on their bro-ness by adding it to the multiplayer would've only made it worse. The way the IV's act in what we've seen in this game so far seems to be much more mature.

I know, I have been using Red vs Blue crossed swords since Halo 2. Would love them to be in Halo 5.

From the looks of it, emblems are less about putting together a symbol and background and more picking a preset emblem and changing the colour so IDK.

Multiplayer is just a simulation and the Spartans in universe actually compete and treat it like a game, them being a little "bro"y when winning a match seems perfectly fine to me.

It's not about being taunted. The style of emoting that the spartans did was indicative of neither the spartans themselves nor the player base. It was tonally wrong for the game entirely.

It's multiplayer... when you get teabagged are you going to write a report about how the spartan was immature? I'm not thinking of lore when i'm online just pure competition victory and celebration.

Lol, this discussion is ironic, with Frankie's statement about the matter in that Gamesradar interview still kinda fresh in my mind.

I'm one of the folks that didn't like the exaggerated victory poses, knowing full well how it fit the lore concerning Spartan IVs, and the War Games simulations they take part in. But it's not like I wanted them to turn it down from 10 to 0. It would've been ideal if we had some kind of control over how emotive our Spartans were.

Anyways, what's done is done. Maybe they'll find a happy middle ground for Halo 6. :p

Look how much Eden's visual clarity and lighting changed. I was just seeing Regret though, and while I like the red and blue added for visual distinction, it looked really dark and poor quality.

On another note, has anyone noticed if the flinch is gone? I've been trying to see if it still occurs. They said it was a bug remember. The reticle would remain static but your gun/screen would jerk and move while being shot.

The dudebro emotes were cringey, but to be honest, they're more accurate to the SIV's than standing around all menacingly is.

Spartan IV's are just marines plucked from their platoons to be in the Spartan program, they weren't emotionally and physically busted in like S2's. They probably still retain their original personalities and in a competitive simulation setting, it's not hard to understand them being total bros and bragging about their victory.

I wish they were left in to be honest. That, or cut the standing vignette bit entirely if they're all just going to be acting like Civil War soldiers at picture time and standing stoically.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they add customisable victory animations as req cards at some point down the line, assuming the multiplayer population doesn't pull a Halo 4.

There was a video of a Custom Game posted on Ready Up Live that showed a lot of the options available to you. And while we've known for a while that the Spartans Abilities could be disabled, I was surprised to see that we could adjust their properties in a number of ways.

I liked the high fiving. Am I the only one who cringes when people use dude-bro as an insult. It reminds me too much of nerds vs joke stereotyping.

I mean who doesn't like a high five?

Maybe its just because im from southern California so my dialect does include those words alot.

I'm from the east coast i like high fives and say bruh pretty often.

I don't see sprint used much at all, or "ADS"

Arena has smaller maps, which is why we've always spoken against Sprint. I see it used a lot in Warzone. Plus, ADS was always to try and placate the 'modern' fans/reviewers who complained like EGM, Metro.uk and others who felt Halo was too old fashioned because the gun couldn't be seen on screen.

But what do you mean you don't see ADS used? Whenever they zoom in they're using the new smartlink. The good thing is, that Halo 5 ADS is not like Destiny or Call of Duty ADS. So if you can 4sk without ADS why would you even do it?

Is this map based on a location in the campaign? If so, I want to go to there. This is the most distinctive map I've seen in all the streams so far. Most of the others lack its personality.

It's like Turf had sex with Boardwalk and the map baby is amazing.

Some of these streams are really shitty. Low quality, not 60fps, annoying graphics and chat and subscriptions. What happened to just regular old game play at a high bitrate with background commentary. The floating head graphic for streamers is the most I can handle.

Here's hoping 343 gets their studio to start playing on a large scale to populate some of the MP. Warzone takes too long to start, and I'm not liking the low skill level per se.

They could open it up for us who have a physical copy of the game (well I gets it later today).... Apparently it's locked down only for press

Tashi just organize it that at every non-online hcs torunament the grand finals winner plays the 343 pro team as an endboss.

Wow, I'm not enjoying multiplayer much at all. I'm terrible at and have never enjoyed Call of Duty but I could hold my own in Halo. The map design, speed, and general feel of H5 is so much more CoD. :-(

Stick with it! I and many felt the same initially (at first it felt atrocious), though 10 matches later it typically begins to stick as you find yourself accommodating to the new pacing.

Speed is much higher than in previous games, but I assure you that the beta at least was still very divorced from CoD.

Well, to many, enjoyment of a game DOES come from being good at it. So I fully understand your feelings. With that said, this game is nothing like COD. Just because you are terrible at COD and now apparently Halo, it does not mean Halo = COD.

Oh I know. It's just that I still enjoy playing only via MCC (which works pretty well now) and this feels nothing like it. Starting to have more fun but it's definitely something different.

The CoD comparison stems from the fact that I feel there are a lot of blind corners and death can come super quick. Getting used to it.

TBF, I'm gonna take a guess and say that the people playing now probably represent the two extremes on the spectrum of skill. You do that in the older Halo games and you get the same results.

See, GhostAyame pooping on people in Halo 1:

I just can't agree with that one at all - death comes just as quick as previous Halo games - there's a new learning curve, but it honestly feels nothing like COD to play. Not even a little bit. You have a gun. That's where the similarities end.

That was just my reaction from the first match.

I can agree, it's really not CoD...but it's not Halo either.

I'm starting to enjoy it for sure.

I'm also playing with the Doom Alpha today, which I can't really say much about other than I'm having way more fun with that. It feels incredible to play. Halo 5 is growing on me, though.

Still, I recognize that, when it comes to shooters, classic Halo is the only console shooter I've ever been decent at. I don't have time to practice these days and I'm probably too old to play well against most people now. Halo 5 is very well made, I can see that, but I feel bad knowing that I'll never be able to really play that well.

I think my biggest issue is an inability to play with a high sensitivity on a gamepad. Using a mouse? No problem. With an analog stick, though, I've just never been able to aim all that well. :(
