Halo 5 Multiplayer Coverage! (no campaign spoilers)

plaza's got like 4 levels of elevation. pretty crazy tbh.

think what will make that map shine is the right power weapon placement and spawn times. otherwise, it could get really campy.

Yep, Plaza's definitely my favorite of the launch Arena maps.

Do like how things're a bit brighter on Eden now.

Blue Ninja mentioned GP was melee (B) on Recon now, how in the fuck are you supposed to hold that in and aim a GP?? I need that button reconfig patch ASAP.

You could always remap B to something else using the app on the Xbox since that's available for all controllers.

Yes, it's just all in a grab bag for early players right now because the player count is low.

Ok good, I absolutely loathe that mode.

Just watched a Team SWAT match on Plaza (finally), map looks really, really good. Wish it was Team Slayer to get a better sense of the layout and power weapon spawns.

I dig Plaza. I'm digging most of the Arena maps I'm seeing actually, lots of cover and elevation changes.

Only thing I've seen so far that looks hinky is I saw some really garbage spawns in CTF - dude respawned in front of the enemy carrier, then another time spawned into a rocket.

Being a lazy fuck, could someone tell me about the revamped promethean grenade?

A good friend of mine writes for them. Definitely a solid site.
Good to know. Halo 5 is scratching all my multiplayer itches; huge open combat, tight focused arenas, twitchy hyper fast, and eventually dicking around*.

*Assuming grifball, infection and the action sack playlist comes back.

It's pretty much a little mine cloud. It's powerful as hell if you land it on an opponent.

Changing it from beta, in favor of crouch jumping. Don't know who they necessarily got info from but the majority of players are probably going to want easier ground/pound than crouch jumping.

Going to be weird as hell pressing B and then trying to aim with the right stick.

Are they opening Bronze packs? The little I have seen have shown Armor being unlocked with a Silver Pack.

All of them. I see armor and crappy weapons pretty much. A few saws, a few fuel rods, maybe a wraith or warthog. I don't know, I guess we'll see tomorrow how early war zone goes without any legendaries

Yea, I would have sacrificed crouch jump, personally. I really didn't miss it at all in the beta, though I'm sure there are plenty of crouch jumps in the game. But, having GP on B basically makes it useless for that control scheme.

As a Recon for-lifer I think the movement to melee is wayyyy better. Personally, I use crouch jumping more than I use Ground Pound.

Tashi still Slaying with a triple ceiling?

Yes, I've gotten like 4 triple kills today lol

Yeah, I'm one of those who complained about it during the beta. Really glad they changed it to the melee button. The importance of crouch jumping may be diminished with the inclusion of Clamber (awful mechanic IMO) but I still want to be able to crouch jump.

Yea, I mean I know the majority would probably pick CJ over GP accessibility, I just didn't feel like I missed it at all in the beta. Maybe the other maps have more jumps, I dunno.

Same here. Good move. It's a more logical button for what's essentially a ranged melee attack anyway.

It's in the Slayer launch playlist too (they detailed the launch playlists on waypoint)

It's in the Team Arena playlist, not the TS playlist.

^ There's nothing logical about holding B down and trying to aim with the right stick, lol. I'm really interested how it's even possible?

Xbox Australia putting out the social moves for Halo 5 Warzone.

Yea there are plenty of jumps you'll discover you can make without clambering, which will then save you those precious animation frames. The split-second decisions you'll need to make because of this is super interesting.

I'm in the same boat with always using Recon but I utilized clamber for everything. I can't imagine holding B and trying to aim a GP. Am I able to tap B, begin the animation and then use my thumb to aim the GP?

Especially given how much verticality there is in campaign, people are going to be ground/pounding enemies in campaign and then struggling to use it in multi-player. I like crouch jumping, I think it's a skilled move to have, but the game brought clamber which negated 95% of crouch jumping requirements. In fact, because some people complained they had to put some crouch jump areas back or implement them better I think I read. But this is just a general purpose thing.

I don't disagree with you. I also brought up this point and mentioned it in the surveys that clamber has effectively made crouch jumping sort of pointless. I think that's why they renewed the focus on it, added some areas in the map that require crouch jump AND clamber as a skilled move.

But if I can be honest, I don't think casuals, non-pro players or players in Warzone and more casual maps will ever utilize the crouch jump. They're going to be using ground pound, a mechanic that is new and heavily advertised in commercials, is going to be used like crazy in campaigns with all the verticality, etc. I probably crouch jumped less than ever in Halo 5. Just my opinion though. Have to see how it is when I play. If it's too awkward, I may just stick with default for the LT smartlink advantage of automatic rescope while shot if button is held down.

Double post, but how are you stacking up against the pro team now? Able to give Ghost, Bravo a run for their money or no?

Yeah, I guess with so many new mechanics every control scheme has its disadvantages. For example, I love Bumper Jumper, but having Thrust on a face button is not exactly ideal. It also has zoom on RS, so no auto rescope either.

Oh, I get it, Halo 5 is just a ploy to make us buy those new elite controllers, huh? LOL.

You've got to hold melee in the air until it's ready to unleash.

I haven't played anywhere near as much as Pro Team. Bravo and I are around the same skill level I'd say. But yea, Pro Team is light years ahead of everyone else in the world lol.

Oh. Ahhh. Crud.

Well I forget how it was in the beta but it's your right stick that aims it correct? I guess you could aim using your left thumb on the right stick while your right thumb is on B but damn. That might be a little tricky.

Is there going to be an in-house pro team stream at any point? It'd be cool seeing the pro's play and learn from their mastery :D

Hope we find out what Warzone Assault is. Sounds like it might be like Rush from BF, which would be awesome.
