Paramount's World War Z sequel is back on track and moving forward with a new writer.

Dennis Kelly, the creator of the buzzy British show Utopia, has been enlisted for the latest draft of the Brad Pitt starrer. J.A. Bayona is squarely on board to direct, though rumors surfaced recently that his involvement was on thin ice after being eyed to direct the Jurassic World follow-up. Sources say there was little Bayona could do given that he has a holding deal for World War Z 2, but the Jurassic World 2 overtures helped light a flame under Paramount to keep Bayona happy and get a new script in motion with the fanboy-friendly writer. Skydance Productions is co-producing and co-financing the film.

Sounds like he's locked in on World War Z 2 no matter what.

If you make me compare the two, World War Z was far better, especially considering the hell it went through to get made. I'd like a second one.

Honestly, and personal opinion here of course, neither movie need the sequel. I guess it's inevitable considering how much money they both made, but of the two I really have no idea where they would take another Jurassic World film in terms of plot.

Jurassic World was TRASH. It really shows the decline of the modern blockbuster smh.

I really don't see how they can make a sequel of Jurassic World.

Like, you would think that iGen and the concept of a dinosaur amusement park would completely die off and get illegalized after both parks went completely out of hand and endangered and killed tons of civilians. Let's not forget the fucking T-Rex running amok in San Diego in TLW too.

I guess they could go in the direction of JP3 and have Pratt and people going back to the abandoned island(s) for some dumb reason.

Nobody needs another fucking WWZ movie. That shit was garbage. Jurassic World was atleast fun, despite how dumb it was. WWZ was an insult.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that a sequel won't have a park this time around. They renamed the franchise for a reason.

Yeah, so the only reasonable way for there to be another Jurrasic flick with a bunch of dinosaurs on screen is to have people going back Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna which I really don't like or see the idea in.

they made the park a reality after the disaster happened in the first two movies, they will find another bollocksed way to justify it no worries

World War Z was better than Jurassic World and deserves a sequel more, but at the same time zombies are so fucking overdone it's not worth it. Dinos are still good, so JW 2 is something I'd look forward to more.

On June 3, 2015, Trevorrow stated that Jurassic World left story possibilities open for the sequel's director that could potentially allow the film to take place in a different location, rather than on an island. Trevorrow hinted that the next film could involve dinosaurs being used by other companies for non-entertainment purposes, possibly in agriculture, medicine, and war: "I really like the idea that this group of geneticists aren't the only people who can make a dinosaur [...] when you think of the differences between Apple and PC – the minute something goes open-source, there are all kinds of entities and interests that may be able to utilise that technology."[55]

On June 8, 2015, Frank Marshall met with Trevorrow and Universal Studios to discuss a Jurassic World sequel.[56] Later that month, Trevorrow did not deny that the film could involve "dinosaur soldiers",[57] and said the series is "not always gonna be about a Jurassic Park," saying he felt that future films could explore the idea of dinosaurs and humans co-existing together.[52] That same month, Trevorrow hinted that the next film may not involve the Jurassic World theme park,[58] and said he would be interested in seeing a Jurassic Park film made by one of several Spanish horror film directors, whose names he did not mention.[59] Director Juan Antonio Bayona was considered for the job, but was already signed on to direct the World War Z sequel.[60] Pratt and Simpkins confirmed in June 2015 that they are signed on for future films.[61][62]

On July 23, 2015, Universal announced that a fifth film is scheduled for a June 22, 2018 release date. It was also announced that Trevorrow and Connolly will write the script; that the film will be produced by Frank Marshall; that Spielberg and Trevorrow will act as executive producers; and that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles from the previous film.[63] The next day, Trevorrow said the series "isn't always going to be limited to theme parks," and confirmed that the film would not involve "a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast."[64]

The negative hyperbole JW elicits is completely unwarranted.

Nah, it's worse than JP3. Bad characters, ludicrous plot lines(the entire raptor plot was a joke), shitty deaths. Watch Jurassic Park then Jurassic World back to back and you'll see the huge difference.

I'm a huge fan of the original and I feel JW is an amazing film. I'm not clouded by nostalgia of a movie I've seen once or twice as a kid and then complain how the new movies "just aren't the same". I've watched JP near religiously, hold it up there with the best... and JW is still able to hang.

Goes both ways IMO. It's definitely not trash but is far from a great film. Absolutely mediocre IMO, a good time in the cinema but not soemthing I'd watch multiple times. That's just me though.
As a film of the original and of dinosaurs, this is definitely a multi-viewing film for me. And noticing the little things and getting a better understanding with each viewing coupled with the behind the scenes revelations and pre-release interviews are enough to put the film above your typical summer blockbuster for me.

What I mean is, I've been on board with the "bored teenagers at a dinosaur zoo" and "go bigger" themes and I love the idea of making this film from a kid's perspective for kids instead of trying to please the fickle JP legacy crowd.

WWZ
Better than JWorld?

Hahahahahahahahaha...Oh my lord that is funny. I've never seen people try to validate their opinion by citing a really god awful movie over a mediocre one
