Wont buy this.
I'd just play Body Harvest on N64 if i wanted graphics like that.

JK, i dont care about graphic. But i'll wait for the goty with all the dlcs included and the bugs removed.

If those screenshots were from an Ubisoft game, this thread would be 300 pages long.
That's exactly my point. Its really funny. Heck even naughty dog would get hammered looking at this. Game will probably play wonderfully(minus the bugs it will have) but come on let's at least be honest

I actually think that Bethesda's writing is absolute shit. But when has a Bethesda RPG not won GOTY?
Jesus Christ are you 12 years old?

And again to everyone that defends Bethesda on shit graphics clearly weren't around when Morrowind and Oblivion launched.

You guys saw the game unveiling at e3, saw the footage that was released before that wasn't looking too hot but was "OK" cause it's Fallout.

And now we are seeing the first real screenshots coming from the retail version, it looks exactly the same as that footage shown before at e3, and now suddenly it's too ugly for words?

Just accept that it's going to look like a larger scaled Xbox 360 game in Full HD with some added effects, no more, no less.

Why? Because it's been 5 years in the making and was probably cross gen at one point and changing the engine at around 3 years of development probably wasn't the smartest choice. So deal with it.

Nope it doesn't. It looks better in Trailers, especially the draw distance for shadows and foliage. I posted a comparison somewhere on page 7, if you are interested to check it out for yourself.

But I agree with your last point. This is probably why the game isn't a graphical powerhouse in the first place.

The reason why ubisoft games get shitted on for graphics is because they ALWAYS lie about what their games look like with fake footage trailers and bullshot screens.

It's like some people don't understand you can admit the game looks like shit but still want to actually play the game.

It's okay to call an ugly game an ugly game.

Hmmm. I'm really hoping there's a day one patch.

Oh, the game looks like absolute shit. But I still can't get my hands on it.

It honestly looks like it was created in 30 seconds using MS Paint.

The bizzare thing is that this UI was in the first trailer released and I was thinking "this must be some placeholder that will get changed" and nope this is the real thing, which is mindblowing to me. I mean FO3 had terrible UI too, but compared to this it was at least somewhat decent looking.
I just hope someone will mod this out on release day because I don't want to play with that eyesore and I have the game on preorder.

Yep, looks like Fallout. No, that's not a good thing. But it's a Bethesda game, were you really expecting anything else?

And to the people thinking that you'll be able to mod the graphics on consoles: lol.

Everyone loves their rose tinted glasses. FO4 looks waaaay better than FO3 but people just can't see it.

That's hardly an accomplishment.

I dearly hope not, because not everything seen here will be improved for the PC version, notably materials. Draw distance, LOD, AO, perhaps textures but not assets themselves.

I don't get it, at all the gameplay footage looks really good, not a graphical milestone sure but nicely detailed textures, good lighting, materials reacting plausibly to light, it looks like a game targetting modern systems.

Those shots are just horrible.

Yeah exactly man. We've now seen several shots showing lots of things they showed during E3 and that looked just so much better in every way. All the nice stuff is gone. I don't think anyone had expected this. The E3 footage never once looked too good to be true for console. Just like you i hope these are not from the review copies, but just one day after reviewers have received their copies.......? Too much of a coincedence.

Yeah totally, those people are the problem. Not the people who think a game can't be good if it doesn't look great.

To be fair, neither TW3 nor TPP have to deal with the kind of stat-tracking and loot/object variables that Bethesda games do. Geralt can't just go around stealing people's forks, then return to Novigrad and expect the game to remember whose forks were stolen and whose weren't. Every soldier Snake fultons isn't a unique NPC with their own clothing, personality and stats (in spite of what their character sheets say).

I imagine that the graphics are a necessary concession to get this thing running properly on consoles, something that the devs for both TW3 and Batman admit was way harder than they thought it would be due to weak hardware.

Also, this game was probably originally cross-gen if it began development in 2011.

It looks fine.
It was never going to be graphically impressive.
It's a massive improvement over the console versions of 3 and NV and I never had a problem with either of them.
As long as the frame rate is solid does it really mater what it looks like?

We all expected fallout 4 to look like this. Bethesda does really need to step up their games graphically though. It is getting pretty bad when you have issues like monsters missing shadows 6 feet in front of you. Hopefully they do a huge overhaul on their tech for their next title.

What i really want to hear about is bugs though that is what is keeping me away from fallout 4 atm.

Well, immersion in games is very important, and good graphics makes immersion easier, so I think it's valid to be disappointed and say it will likely impact your enjoyment on the game.

I personally know that as I play the game the bad graphics will be standing out and drawing me out of the experience.

But I don't think anyone has said it would be a bad game just because of the graphics? Or if they have I missed it.

PipBoy.jpg

So, did Bethesda start with the plastic Pip Boy and work their way through Fallout 4, making everything look plastic to match it?

A lot of work just to make a collectors item looked pulled straight from the game. I guess they couldn't figure out how to not let it cast shadows, though.
