D23 Expo Japan -- Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater

Maybe it was the 2.5 launch event?

But I recall there was some event at Disney Land for a Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer, no trailer was released to the public and judging by the information from whom attended that they described the contents of the trailer that was shown at E3 later that year.
(Eraqus and Xehanort playing chess in a room. Sora's keyblade changing shape, Tangled world, and so on.) That information was shared at Kingdom Hearts insider.
It was the 2.5 launch event that was held at Disney Animation studios. It was actually remarkably similar to this event in that there was trailers, live music performances, etc. (Though the launch event had a Q&A session with Nomura). And as for that trailer, you're right it was never released to the public but I wouldn't say all of it's contents were shown in the E3 trailer. My memory may be a bit fuzzy (It has been a year since I was at the event) but what that trailer showed was Sora walking around the room that we've seen Xehanort/Eraqus playing chess, a panning shot of a city resembling Daybreak Town, and some incomplete Heartless animations and Keyblade transformations (was shown only on a white background). Obviously the Chess Room and Keyblade transformation were later shown off in that E3 trailer though.

Honestly, that footage was so rough and incomplete that I'm not surprise they never released it to the public.

It is disgusting how they handle this. Like fucking movie trailers on conventions.

It doesn't work that way. Fuck every fan, like 99 % of the fans, by showing it only to people that attend your shitshow. IN 2015, everything should be released online immediately.
A tad annoying? Mayhaps. Disgusting? Lol. Maybe shut down your computer and go for a walk in some nearby forest or something.

But imagine how special you'd feel if you were one of the lucky few to see the exclusive video in person!

Question, where the people at the screening mega fans who paid for a ticket or where they generic press invited from whatever site or magazine that always gets invited to stuff like this?

Because if it was press this holding back helps nobody, the press acts like these events are just another thing on their list of whatever to do or go to and most of the time don't find it special. So by the time footage comes they're just like "meh" most of the time.

I am glad the Suicide Squad trailer leaked and WB decided to pull the trigger and release the trailer online. It has more views than the Batman v Superman comic-con trailer.

Nope, thanks.

It is just stupidly wrong.

Edit: And also lol at that 'tad'. You don't get to decide my level of annoyance. No offense.
It's just a few more seconds of discussion between a couple of characters and one new special attack shown + a slightly extended look at the combat otherwise. It's not the end of the world that we have to wait.

And sure I can't decide on your level of annoyance, but you seriously need to set your priorities in life straight if something like not seeing a new game trailer causes you immeasurable annoyance.

D23 is a fan event first & foremost.

The only news I've heard from this is that possibly new Heartless? I mean, why hasn't there been any other news? Sounds like there wasn't really anything new unveiled or I would think there would be plenty of reports of it.

Man, I get why Square keeps withholding these things (to drum up hype and speculation), but it never fails to annoy the hell out of me. Especially when months go by before the trailers actually go online. Or at least, that's how it used to be. Hoping to see this soon.

Well, this is disappointing but whatever. The only thing a new trailer would have done for me is making me want to replay the old games only to realize there is still no complete collection on PS4... Oh wait, I just remembered anyway. Where is my complete PS4 collection?

Squeenix still has that mindset that their best stuff is shown BEHIND closed doors rather than have everyone hyped for them. That needs to change somehow.

People acting like SE won't have a chance to show the trailer online later in the year at PSX or Jump Festa.

Is there a description of what's shown somewhere?

Trailer summary as far as we know translated from Japanese viewers who went to the event.

  • Adds more to the Eraqus-Xehanort conversation.
Eraqus to soon become Master, Xehanort talking about Keyblade War (see below)
  • The new attraction flow we have a screenshot of
  • More footage of Tangled and Hercules Worlds
  • More normal combat in general
  • A new nobody that shares a theme with Marluxia
  • A touching scene with Sora, Axel, and the ones who reside in Sora's heart sharing a tender moment.

Rough Translation from KHInsider of the Full Eraqus-Xehanort conversation in the new KH3 Trailer:

New lines of dialogue are in bold

Xehanort: Have you heard of the Ancient Keyblade War?
Eraqus: Of course I do.
Xehanort: That thing where long, long ago, Keyblade Wielders struggled over the light
Eraqus: Yeah, the Master's favorite story.
Xehanort: I guess they wanted to use the light they'd struggled for to make Kingdom Hearts appear, and do something
Eraqus: Guess so… I can't understand the reason why anyone'd start a war
Xehanort: So, you know of the Lost Masters
Eraqus: What's that?
Xehanort: They're the ones who started the Keyblade War.
Eraqus: Never heard of them.
Xehanort: No, more like, it was for their sake… I think.
Eraqus: What are you even talking about?
Xehanort: You can drop the facade.
Eraqus: Know what?
Xehanort: On that land shall darkness prevail and light expire. You'll soon be up for masterhood candidacy, there's no way you don't know.
Eraqus: Well.
Xehanort: The staring eyes see all. The future, it's already been written.
Eraqus: Who's to say I can't change it, and maybe Light will prevail.
Xehanort: You're rather confident. But aren't you at a disadvantage in this match?
Eraqus: But unlike Darkness, there is more to Light that meets the eye. You might be surprised.
Xehanort: Oh, I hope so.

Paying money to be advertised a product seems somewhat arrogant imo

This was a special Theater Event though apart of the D23 Expo. Nomura went through the audience to greet everyone. They had a small talk show style thing. Showed off the KH3 and KH2.8 trailers. Yoko Shimomura performed some of the songs from KH games live, and they got to see early concept stuff from KH3 that will NEVER be made public. Sure, they're advertising the games there but it's much more than that. It's a pretty cool fan thing.

I pretty thankful there WILL be something we get to see later on from this. The KH2.5 launch event had some conceptual stuff (Sora's Keyblade transformations) shown that we never got to see until it was made into an E3 trailer 7 months later.

that puzzling face
Especially when months go by before the trailers actually go online.

Has this ever happened in recent history?

The 2.5 event footage was most decidedly not identical to E3 2015 trailer.

This is like saying buying a collector's edition is paying money to get a bunch of stuff that advertises a product to you.

That's true — and the trailer is primarily an expanded version of the E3 version.
And in hindsight, this is probably a similar initiative Square is taking to 'ATR' for FFXV. Frequent information about the game, if anything.

Guess it's just how weird Square has been in the past about press release, over-hyping new information, and stringing fans along with extortionate memorabilia. They aren't the only ones guilty of this, but they were more prominent in that regard.

"Looks like Square Enix Europe doesn't have anything to share about the D23 2015 trailers for Kingdom Hearts either. Disney is holding it."

It was expected, but still super disappointing. I remember wishing Disney was more involved with KH but stuff like this makes me regret that. Well, at least the world lineup so far has been good.

I still think we will get the trailers online... just later date.

Maybe next Monday when D23 event is done.

Yeah that, or at the Playstation Experience in December though that's worst case scenario. I'm just glad it's more of a Disney thing and not a "lol Square" thing.

More likely place is Jump Festa, which had lots of KH trailers in the past.

I think KH won't be at PSX.....they will probably focus on FF7R.

I was really looking forward to a heartwarming, robust, Nomura trailer. Still am. Hopefully we get to see it by next week. If it even exists.

I love this thread. I didn't believe that rumor for a second. I'm not expecting the trailer, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if they release it.

It was just a rumor that it would come tonight--a dream. Square ate that dream. Something something heartless, nobody, unversed.

After the 3PM JST issue I'd really hope people would supply sources. I don't doubt that Disney is holding it but Square Enix Europe haven't publicly stated this. If it was a private DM then I understand but it's hard to believe people at this moment.

I always thought Marluxia and the rest of the Chain of Memories Organization members were the best designed, overall, and most interesting...and they got put into the GBA game...

Is it sad that this got me more upset than being denied trailers of a game I'm really looking forward to? I really wanted to be able to play as King Mickey.

As for the trailer, I'm sure it's something that'll come out with time. After nothing happening at 1 AM, I'm not sure why people decided to believe the 2 AM one. I'm just going to wait until some news actually comes around instead of looking for another time to wait for.

They are going to make a King Mickey figure for infinity eventually. And they will make either a KH playset or power disc that will let you use the keyblade. It's not like you'll never get them and a figure is a hell of a lot cooler than a power disc. Same deal with the trailer: they are going to make the game, which we will get to play in its entirety. Not seeing a trailer is a huge so what. TBH, I find this thread's collective bitterness hilarious. "We didn't get to see a trailer that people paid to see! We only got the information about a game that we'll eventually play anyway! ITS NOT FAIR!"

And just to be clear, we still haven't gotten the last exclusive trailer, so don't get your hopes high for this to eventually come out either.

I'm not sure about the idea of the King Mickey figure and Kingdom Hearts playsets/power disc. I just can't say I see Kingdom Hearts happening for it, as much as I would love it to. The Keyblade just looks like their ultimate unlock right now and I don't see why they would give people an easy way out to get it when others went through all the trouble of collecting every figure.

I completely agree with you on everything else, however. A figure would be great to have, and the people who paid to have this exclusive event should be entitled to having it for themselves. It's completely fair. We will undoubtedly get more information about KH3 sometime in the future, so just let this one time slip by for these people. It isn't a huge deal.

As for the exclusive trailer, I feel the same way about it with the other content that the people who paid to see it, it's exclusive for a reason the people who saw it should be entitled to keep it to themselves as a special group. So, I'm with you on pretty much all of this.

EDIT:

Absolutely, this track is incredible and one of my favorites without a single doubt.

The Lightsaber was the Ultimate Unlock in 1.0 and Luke's Landspeeder in 2.0. Both are unlockable in 3.0: the first by completing any Star Wars play set and the second in the course of play the Rise Against the Empire play set. That sets precedent for both the Ultimate Unlock foreshadowing future play sets as well as becoming a standard item.

Yeah, that's a good point. I hadn't taken into account the Ultimate Unlocks for 1.0 and 2.0, my mistake. In that case, it would be great if that's where this ends up leading us.

Guys, it's not Square that decides when or even if they'll upload the trailers.

It's all Disney. This is a Disney event, for a game published and owned by Disney. Square is the hired developer, that's it.

Just check and you'll see Square doesn't even upload the KH trailers to their channels, Disney does.

You've never seen this? lol

Oh boy, don't spend much time on the Kingdom Hearts side of Youtube =P
