Thats America in general. Pennsylvania is described as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia on the sides with Alabama in the middle(which also gets the nickname of "Pennsyltucky"). I've had my friend from California complain about how racist people get when you go out into the country.

More or less its rural people who aren't exposed to different cultures. (Though in this case Coon Rapids seems more suburban)

Oddly enough, I'm from PA and was about to post using that example; terrible, awful state, especially the western side of Pittsburgh where I'm from. Drive 20 minutes outside the city in select directions and you're in for some real country "hospitality."

Reminds me of why I hated CR. It's basically a desert of condos, apartments, and housing communities with a large shopping district breaking them up. It was actually de-humanizing living there because there were very very few businesses or residential areas that weren't pre-fab, white franchises.

The explosive growth of the suburbs in the last few decades brought with it a bunch of middle-class evangelicals and conservative business folk. The urban core of the Cities - especially Minneapolis - is still leftyville. Cam Gordon of the Green Party still has his seat on the Minneapolis city council.

Redneck trash isn't isolated to the South. You find it ALL over America(North, South, East, and West). Hell, you even find it in Canada. Hell, I live in Los Angeles, and if you head east(towards Riverside) or north(towards Kern Country), you'll find 'em in droves. Not all "country folk" are bad, but you're bound to find the bad ones around "country folk" in general. It's like going out to the desert. There's sure a lot of snakes and not all of them are venomous, but there ARE some Rattlers and Coral Snakes out there among them.
