Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Oh man, had an awesome Warzone match with a last minute win. So much drama in this one. Trailed by a decent amount but then 3/4 of the way we took the lead. Just as we thought we were in control the other team defeats Warden Eternal and take a huge lead over us.

I started to just give up there cause I thought there was no way we will catch up. I think the other team got lax because of this lead so they just kept sending waves of dudes to one of our bases. Thanks to these dudes basically just running to their deaths repeatedly, we somehow took the lead at the very last minute and we won by 1000 - 996. Fucking got out of my seat screaming OH SHIT YESS OH FUCK lol. Oh man. I'm elated.

Warzone is the best damn mode I've played in a long time in any game.

I started to get some decent stuff from Gold packs today. Opened 2 or 3 and got a lot more ultra rare stuff than I usually would. Getting a bunch of silver first paying off.

You can still sell what you get in them to spend REQs on packs that can contain cosmetics.

If they patch a "Sell All" feature, I'll probably do that.

I'm really not a big fan of the one time use REQs. It almost goes to waste 90% of the time and all you feel is frustration. Warzone is chaotic and can be fun sometimes....but once you use that card, getting spawn killed, vehicle boarded, or shot down from a distance is almost always a guarantee. Just goes to waste.

Love getting new cosmetics though. Those permanent REQs are cool.

how many matches has he left? If he does not do that then I dont know. Maybe poor language? My step brother used to get banned from xbox live all the time for language.
Im not sure but im suprised anyone can get a full day Ban, he is saying he was afk, but, i know for a fact he has quit a couple of games.

Then I might be placing my frustration in the wrong place. Regardless of what it is in terms of gameplay, I dislike dying so quickly and the general gameplay. Again, cool that you guys don't, but I'm just sharing my perspective on it. I've been playing Halo since I was like 10 and I've loved every single game up until now except for Halo 5. Even with Halo 4 I found something to love about the game. This is just not how I expected the game to feel or play like and I can earnestly say that, after two weeks of actively playing and trying to love it, I don't. It's the total opposite of what I expected to think of this game and it really bums me out because I was so hyped for it. :(

A lot of GAFers play partied up together, so their experience is likely very different to most. When you're among a large group of highly co ordinated and skilled players, it just makes the multiplayer easier and less frustrating. Rather than you being on the receiving end of bad spawns, teamed up kills, uneven numbers, getting map controlled, nade spammed or constantly cornered etc, it's more likely to be the other way around, and I suppose that's fun in its own way.

I found that the higher ranked I got, or the higher ranked players I was playing against, the less solo or lone Wolf I could play it. You basically have to shadow others to have a better fighting chance, which is a shame, because it's more about success through numbers.

I think if they added non party game modes that would help tremendously. And allowed the matchmaking to fill in empty player slots, and also incentivising it so players who join late get full match bonus, whilst a loss does not affect their rank.

As is, you can't have a game balance that prioritises player numbers, but at the same time allows a huge number of games to be uneven in player numbers in the first place.

I don't know how I haven't seen many people complain that you play as Locke and Osiris in 80 PERCENT OF THIS GAME. Why would they do this when they know everyone hated it in Halo 2? So so disappointing.

Even if they don't have a sell all feature, at least they need to add sell 5, 10 etc. I mean I tend to keep my shitty REQ's at least around 15 or less. I horde them far more than I need to though. Barely used 1-2 good things a warzone match, but I like to pretend I'll need to keep so many railguns and saws and fuel rod guns etc.

Yeah, a Team Mercenaries playslist would be great.

Final campaign thoughts:

Well, I love the ending! Not a disappointment at all. The build up to it, the increasing stakes, the promise for what will come next. HYPE.
...The actual missions, however... Just... who in their right mind would put not one, not two, but four Warden battles in a row like this? And then not one, but two, then THREE Warden Eternals to fight at the same time? How proud can they possibly of this goddamn terrible boss fight? It was bad the first time, but didn't someone, at some point, think that maybe taking all this pacing and built up towards the end and repeating the same boss (with multiples of it) several times near the end was a terrible idea?
And then there's the last chief mission, which is essentially a sequence of horde arenas. No real design, after the wonderful vistas and build up of the previous missions, we are left with just progressing from arena to arena until reaching the end. Well, not the end, but three Warden Eternals. Because why not, we've done it 7 times already, what's another three.

It almost soured a great ending. Almost. But DAMN, did that ending deliver.

Hope Halo 6 goes the way of Halo 3 and dumps that shit.

I know I'm just assuming out of my ass, but I personally wouldn't be at all surprised if a fair bit was cut from the game quite late, primarily some Master Chief levels. The desert reveal, the implications of the marketing, the repetition of later stages and bosses etc, makes it seem as though they may have run short of time, and there could have been more to glue it all together that for whatever reason may not have made the cut. Like, I could fully see there being an entire desert MC segment (as per the original reveal) leading up to Sanghelios.

It would be interesting to get to know more of what happened behind the scenes, besides the PR orientated vidocs.

There's plenty of sour in your comments and not one sweet morsel that you could actually savor, save the one behind the glass display case you can't have. How did it deliver?

Right there with ya on that. There's no way that last act played out that way on purpose. I just don't believe it.

Interesting is, I don't think they had the story locked down even by E3. I mean the Battle of Sunaion level had Chief 'there' and his Assault rifle could be scanned by the Artemis at the start. But that was nowhere in the final game.

It's obvious it's the franchise team decision to focus on Osiris Team, but it's a real disappointment.
Their missions had really nothing to do with Chief beyond, we're looking for Chief

It was just a way to introduced 3 new characters and Buck, and to make sure you like them and want to buy all the new media that will have them and to focus away from Chief from when they don't want to use him anymore. So now you've watched Nightfall, and you've played Halo 5, but do you want to know what happened in between? Buy the exciting new novel Halo: Headhunter to learn what happened to Locke and why he decided to become a Spartan, learn about his ruthless days as an ONI Assassin etc.

What a crappy mission that was. The Trials even gets underused and stuffed in this level. It's just a slog.

Yeah, reading it again it did come out that way :p

But the thing is that I really enjoyed the
"destroy the cores"
bits with Locke near the end, it was fun, a little more open, lots of vehicles and different enemies to fight, so maybe what I wrote came off stronger than I planned on. But then, of course, you fight
Our friend the Warden
again on that mission, so lol.

I think there's three amazing missions in this campaign and the rest ranged from ho-hum to straight-up bad.

The fantastic multiplayer saved the day IMO. I quite liked Halo 4's campaign; This is the worst one of the series so far for me.

But like I said, totally don't get the story complaints with how it all turned out at the end. Damn, that was cool.

Decent night of Halo, started off fairly well.

Even managed to end the night at P3.

If you miss your ground pound, try it again.

whats the highest Onyx level?

Depends entirely on the playlist and even the time of day.

Champion = The top 200 players in a playlist.

Onyx shows your true CSR (Competitive Skill Rating), the stat that is tracked in the background of other ranks. You reach Onyx at 1500 CSR. As soon as you get a higher CSR than the lowest Champion, you become Champion 200. So it could be as low as 1500 (If you were the first to reach Onyx after reset) or as high as 2200 or more depending on how many people have raised their rank.

It constantly changes based on who is playing and how many try for champ.

The prometheans are such a fucking chore to fight against in this. I actually find them WORSE than halo 4s. I'm on the glassed world escaping the space elevator mission on legendary and its just fucking endless waves of crawlersvand soldiers. I fucking hate it. I don't know how the story folk could justify it, but for the love of God give me a halo game with the covenant as the primary, or lone, enemy. Shit, just have the prometheans be a literal reskin, I don't care, but fix this for halo 6. Ugh.

I thought that was one of the easier battle against them. Climb up to the top edge and just sprint away in a circle if you're dying, and get your team to focus fire on the soldiers quickly. Wait until the Knights show up as well.

I don't know, I think aside from the annoying soldier teleport, the Prometheans have been much 'funner' to fight this time, especially the Knights. I love having that area sensitive enemy damage. The worst for me is the Wardens due to their ridiculous one hit kills and soldier teleport.

Pegasus needs to be gone completely.. It plays horribly the spawns are bad and one team spawns with the os in their hands it's compete shit.

The teleport would be fine for me since you can track them easily, except that they. just. keep. teleporting. The cd needs to be way longer.

The removal of the plasma pistol as useful is also a bit disappointing. I get how their armor works, but forcing us to strip shields with automatics rather than a noob combo feels bizarrely anti-player.

The Knights being virtually invulnerable to melees and the lack of a pocket shotgun also removes the most fun I had dealing with them in 4.

So what's proper etiquette if I am playing Arena and two of my teammates drop out within the first minute?

I am supposed to just have a shitty time and get wrecked for 10 mins or is it cool if I quit too?

You are just going to hurt the last guy on your team.

I have no idea what happened here, guess I need to get gud?

Did the guy not die with the plasma stick?

The gunplay up top is understood.

BTW I think you and I may have wound up in a match before by chance. GT FrontlineFire

what exactly do you have to do to unlock nightfall helmet?

\/ tried that, skipped to the end, didn't get it. Trying the little shorts too, nothing. Does it take a while?
