Why does dogmeat sometimes not follow commands? I'll tell him to walk 5 feet away in an open field and he looks at me like he just shit on the carpet.

Game's been frustrating for me today. I dunno if I suck or what, but I keep getting killed easily. I'm trying to get into the game's "Go anywhere" sort of feel, but it really seems to be "Go anywhere... but there... and not there... you probably shouldn't go there either... I suppose you could go there, but you're going to die.."

ugh

It was never meant to be 'Go anywhere', more like 'Go anywhere you can get in and not die your current state'. Finding out where and how is part of the fun. C'mon,I'm sure it's not that hard to find a suitable place to advance, it's a Bethesda RPG after all.

It probably wasn't wise to go with an endurance of 1. I'm going through health items quick. But high Luck is treating me well with the crits. I could be wrong but it seems like you still get random crits, plus the meter that fills up in VATS that lets you bank them.

game is hard man. glad I switched to normal, im dying alot. maybe im just underleveled but man, most of the enemies 2-3 shot me

or im just shit, very likely

also fuck mines :p

You just fucking met the dog and you expect it to perfectly listen to your every command as if you've trained him all your life?

c'mon son

So, last night, I'm exploring... Cleared an area of enemies that took me about 4-5 tries. So happy I got passed it. Now I am looking around the area where the enemies lay dead. Decide to open up a bathroom stall. Who the hell left a
grenade
in the toilet. Dead!!! This freaking game.

Mh, why are the achievements on steam locked? Im not earning any achievements (i didnt use the console commands or anything like that)

Ok. I need a mod to take player collision off of dogmeat. Holy shit is it annoying, so many combat deaths, jumping deaths and overall general annoyance with him CONSTANTLY being in the fucking way. Fighting indoors with him around is the absolute worst.

He got injured in the first city I visited. Left him there and never looked back

No Bort :-(

I actually figured that would be on there. Has anyone actually tried it. The name I picked isn't on that list, unless it's been updated in the last few minutes, and it was said.

Also, do weapons no longer degenerate? IIRC in Fallout 3 I could repair my pistol with other pistols of the same type.

That stuff is out. And even though I knew it was, it still felt kind of odd at first.

I really need to scavenge up some better weapons. These pipe guns are all shit and I really don't like this wind up laser gun lol. Give me semi-auto rifle plz.

I guess the ending spoiler is what I get for browsing the OT while at work. It's funny how whenever there's an unmarked spoiler for anything my eyes always glue right to it. I scroll by hundreds of posts a day without seeing a word but for some reason when there is some poorly written piece of garbage unmarked spoiler my eyes instantly attach to it.

Thanks to target B2G1 , picked this up along with Tomb Raider and Forza 6.

damn if only i have time to play them all!

Woah man. Did that guy just suicide bomb this thread with an ending spoiler? Jesus.

Hope everyone's enjoying it albeit the little incursion. Can't wait to join you guys around Christmas time.

Played on PC almost all day yesterday (with a small pause to check out Rise of the Tomb Raider and Legacy of the Void), and it's fantastic!

I hope the people who were complaining about the graphics yesterday are eating a lot of crow, because outside of some things like iffy character models, the graphics are wonderful. I'm playing at 1440p on a G-sync monitor with a 970 and all settings on high, and it runs great. The way light plays off everything in the world adds a lot to the world, and the image quality is wonderfully crisp. People who have been saying this looks only marginally better than Fallout 3 are, well, par for the course for hyperbole around here.

I've also been pleasantly surprised by the gunplay. I knew they talked about it being massively improved, but this is Bethesda we're talking about here, so I was taking a wait and see approach. Lo and behold, they've actually massively improved the gunplay, it feels great. This is wonderful because it makes the deep crafting system really meaningful. Now I really want to try out all sorts of different guns and mods, because the gunplay is actually fun.

That feed into the last great aspect of the game, because the crafting systems are so well integrated and so deep, the exploration aspect of the game has a lot more meaning. You've always been able to pick up just about everything in a Bethesda open world, but often most of those items have been meaningless. Because everything here feeds into the crafting system, it feels awesome to scour new areas looking for critical components you need. This is great because the most vital thing in any open world is a proper motivation to explore it. It seems they've really nailed that with Fallout 4.

Can't wait to get home from work and dive back in.

Does anyone else feel lost in this game? I'm about three hours in and have done like one mission
(the power armor in concord and then walk back to sanctuary)
and I feel like if I go anywhere, I die. I love fallout but I don't remember feeling like this in Fallout 3.

Using the pip boy on my tablet now in real life. This is trippy as hell. I'm watching my self move on the world map. This is so bizarre.

You can even switch your outfits in real time. Only thing is, you can also get killed in real time while looking down at your pip boy!

Seriously? I really think the voice protagonist is a huge drawback to this game.
Yeah. I like the voice actress and having an actual conversation is preferable to a half voiced, half text based system. That's how I see it anyway. I completely understand why a lot of people prefer the old way, but this works better for me.

I don't get why my average ass laser rifle without scope has so much higher VATS range than my sniper rifle. An enemy can stand right before me and I have like 30% to hit his head. With the laser rifle I can hit his head from 10m away or so with 95%. Shot Gun up close also yields 95%. VATS calculation is weird. What does it affect? Range? Accuracy? Recoil? I hate that you can't see that in the game.

I'm a little confused about the crafting materials.

If I move junk onto a work bench it can be used for its base materials, right?

So, if I move a bunch of junk to the town building work bench are those base materials also now accessible from the weapons work bench now too?
