does anyone know what determines how many action points a weapon uses? It's not Fire Rate. Looks like weapon mods can change the value, but it's not visible and i did not figure out yet how to improve it.
Weapons can actually need more action points after modding, and it bugs me to not know which mods do that before applying them. Usage of action points in VATS is quiet important.

Only two? Skyrim had NINE cities and SEVEN towns.

It's not really comparable. I've been to like 10-12 settlements just in the top half of the map that I can build in, but you're not going to see cities like Diamond City without a reason for them, people are kind of on their own most of the time.

Different setting.

Just makes sense that there's alot more cities in a functional society.

In Fallout? Not so much. Doesnt really need many cities either. Never did. Does not mean it's a smaller game, though.

Has anyone else gotten a piece of gear with the Chameleon prefix to it? This prefix makes it so that whenever you stop moving and are stealthed, you will enter a camoflage mode that makes you harder for enemies to see. I'm playing a stealth character, so I was pretty excited when I got one, but after using it for a only a short while, I was getting extremely annoyed by the way that the screen flashed every time that the mode went active. As a stealth character, you are often in stealth mode, and my screen was flashing several times a minute as I walked around. The effect is extremely obnoxious...its similar to the flashing effect that the game used when you first exited the vault, entering the very bright outside world. And there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off (playing a console version). So eventually, I just started deequpping the gear most of the time, and equipping it if I ever really need it.

Is there any hope that they will either remove the effect or add an option to toggle it off?

So not sure if any consider this a spoiler or even how i should tag this...
I guess any who played mothership zeta in Fallout 3 read on.

So just now got a crashed ship, pretty sure its alien. But no aliens or blasters at the site. Just flaming wreckage. Is there more to Fallout 4's alien crash?

Or is this it?
Just a big nothing and a cool moment

Well it was pretty much nothing in Fallout 3 as well utill they added the mother ship zeta DLC, there is an alien blaster somewhere though.

They also had magic and didn't have a nuclear apocalypse.

Alien Ship Crash spoilers:

If you find the crash site in fallout 4, follow the trail of blood from the ship. You will find an alien in a cave, kill him and you get the blaster and ammo for it.

But I don't want to kill the poor guy ;(

This needs to be sais so here it goes. PSA. Send all Your companions to rocket gas station. It's small so it's hard to lose your companion.

I even tried setting up a Bell in both Sanctuary, and Red Rocket, because that brings all the townsfolk to you...I knew this wouldn't work because I didn't send her to those towns, but I tried it anyway. Yeah nope...she friggin should be at her office in Diamond City because that's where I sent her, but the game just decided "nah"

But even Fallout 3 had Megaton, Tenpenny Tower, Rivet City, Underworld, Little Lamplight, The Citadel, etc, scattered pretty evenly across the map. So far, FO4 has been mostly empty in the upper left.

I'll reserve judgement until i've explored more of the map but so far I've been waiting to find NPCs to talk to. Walking back through somewhat large areas like
Lexington and Concord
and having them be completely devoid of characters feels like a real missed opportunity. I find myself fast traveling to get back to my first settlement because there's no point in even traversing those areas again.

Look, I'm loving this game. I'm addicted and Diamond City has certainly been a breath of fresh air. I'm just surprised it took me three days of playing before I found a place like this where in Fallout 3 and Skyrim, you can find several big areas filled with NPCs on the first night.

When I pick up junk, is it automatically converted into crafting resources, or do I need to go to a workbench and transfer all junk at once?

When you pick up junk, it stays as junk in your inventory. Store it in a workbench and it'll remain junk in there however when you build things, the workbench will automatically break those items down as needed.

Great thanks. Will the workbench automatically break down items that I have kept in my inventory, or do they have to be transferred first?

Has anyone ever found screws in this game?
I don't want to buy that expensve shipment from that one seller in Diamond City, yet I haven't found one single screw in the wild..

what abilities are you guys building and are you happy with them? i just read through all the perks and holy hell.. luck sounds awesome. I kinda wish i went that. I went CHA and INT but I honestly am not interested in much of either. I like hacking and crafting but dont care about companion stuff as much. theres a ton of perks that sound cool but I'm not sure

I get them when I scrap guns, maybe you should take that perk next.

Looting Hubris comics and I found this
Silver Shroud crap.
what do I do with it? listening to that radio station doesn't do anything.

Ha, I found a crazy looking
teddy bear
called Jangles
the moon monkey
. It's pretty cool, it's on my bed now at my red rocket base.

Loving the game thus far. I'm plying on easy though, I enjoyed it more when I don't die every 10 seconds.

Screws are often inside other objects. Highlight them as an object to find in the crafting menu and it will label in world objects that include screws.

I mean if you're counting Tempenny, Little Lamplight and small areas like that then there are definitely more than 2 in FO4. If anything the fact that you found so many in the first night of Skyrim yet so few in Fallout is attest to the large size of it, no?

There's a quest in Goodneighbour's Memory Den that triggers it, it's pretty cool what it leads to.

I've a few questions I need clearing up if I may!!

1) I keep accidentally store items when building, where do these items go and how can I access stored items

2) power, is this right, I built a generator, then a wire from generator to a power point and then items work of proximity to that power point? I don't wire each item to the power point individually?

3) tattoos, I found one, but where can I access it?.

Only was able to play a bit, and made my way to Diamond City last night, and it's already way better designed than any cities in F03.

The way you encounter Piper gave me a strange sense of deja-vu, so was my stop at the Super Duper Mart on my way back to my homebase.

Really liking Piper, her lips and lip-sync are mesmerizing in the most terrible way possible, but I really like her tone, and her voice acting, she made a better first impression than even FNV companions I almost regret taking the lone wanderer perk just before meeting her.
First character I really like in the game so far, and it was nice encountering a character with a few decent animations as well.

I also powered through the TERRIBLE workshop UI and tried to build myself a little shack on the spot of a ruined house in Sanctuary, and the fact that you can't snap walls to the border of the concrete base, litterally drove me nuts !
Wall elements are either too big for it and you end-up with half of a wall hanging in mid-air, or you have to make it too small on purpose, and it ends up off-center, especially when you try tu place the door where it should be.

Oh, btw how do you 'dock' a power armor on one of those stands ?

Starting to get the hang of the more shooter-y feel of the gameplay too, but those damn ghouls are annoying to shoot outside of VATS :@ but I like the way they creep on you from windows and such.
Crit system is fun too, almost makes me want to roll a high LUCK character to go crazy with it.

The dialogue system though ..... consistantly SHIT, and it can't be brought up enough ! can't wait for alternate start mods and dialogue overhauls to fix all that.
Stop bringing up your son in the most random conversations Cornelius, NO ONE CARES !

The world is fun to explore as pretty much usual, and they really went crazy with all the little details with how they arrange the different building interiors, skeletons and such.
Lots of cool little touches in even the most generic looking places.

Just a small question about the first mission for the Brotherhood :
When you reactivate the power and Synths start coming down to the bottom of the reactor, if you press the button that creates some kind of explosion, would this also kill Paladin Danse?

no, but he makes a comment about it. Dont know if it matters.

Do the
Brotherhood
missions were you have to clear out an area and find an item ever end? Done 4 or 5 of both now and it doesn't seem to change anything.

Its less about the locations (there are a lot of those) and more about the NPCs. Until Diamond City, I've only met around... ten?... NPCs that I can talk to and of those, maybe three offered me a quest. Walk into Whiterun or Rivit City and its wall to wall conversations and quests. This game just feels a bit light on those things so far. I just hope that will improve.

No, it will not.

Either find the costume in a comic store or find the guy in Goodneighbour called Kent I believe.

Ah, thanks! Found the costume but it never gave me the associated quest. Didn't even know it was a quest til I tried to stash it and it told me I couldn't.

I saw that spoiler slip up, zerotol!

Does the Quartermastery quest line ever end ? I feel like i've done 1000 quests for her already and she's always wanting another item.

Not complaining though....the XP is good and it forces you to explore new places, but I feel I want it to end.

It's either repeatable, or it's an unintended infinite exp glitch.

I assume there's a point where you unlock additional settlement objects, right? Like, I don't think I see stairs anywhere in the menu.

There's such a great, easy to get legendary melee weapon with
Grognak's axe in the comic shop.

They are there, they just aren't where you'd expect them to be, but I can't remember exactly where.

It's like I cant find the bobblehead storage, although I swore I saw it somewhere.

Could really do with a list of items and their associated menus.

Hmm thats weird man, wh3n I picked it up I got a miscellaneous quest telling me to go see Kent.

A tip for late game/late game quests for main quests and faction quests.

Make hard saves. Late main quests and faction quests will lock you out from other quests by other factions and will completely lock you out from some factions, therefore locking you out from trophies/achievements.

Thanks, I'll do that!

Oh man. And I always wondered what those little magnifying glass-symbols are supposed to mean...

Lots of screws from even low-level weapons but only if you're getting the scrapper perk.

I had tons of them, hahaha.

Oh man. And I always wondered what those little magnifying glass-symbols are supposed to mean...

It means you have the items components tagged for search :)

Had my first hard lock last night after customizing my Red Rocket settlement.

When its done im gonna show it off to yall :).

'Twas an accident. I fixed it quick. Not even sure if it would be a spoiler though as it described nothing. Have fun with the quest!
