Lucky me. I'm one of the cool people who are having elevator trouble. Can't advance in the brotherhood of steel quest as well as the main quest.

Accidentally stumbled into a method of save scumming to reroll the perk on a legendary drop so I reloaded a couple times and got meself an infinite ammo hunting rifle!

Infinite ammo or infinite ammo capacity? Cause those things are different.

Good to hear. I've only found three, but I'll be exploring more this week to find others. I just want a shack where I can make stuff.

Yeah there are a lot of settlements you can find and I'm up to 5 that were empty to start. Add long as you dont put up a tower, it's yours alone.

Man, why so harsh? Most people bemoaning the lost RPG mechanics of the past are also saying "This is still a good game". It would be great if Bethesda could match it's world-building with the mechanics and writing of someone like Obsidian but that doesn't mean Fallout 4 isn't a great game in it's own right.
Not being harsh at all, jut honest, its clear what Bethesda's strengths and weaknesses are yet every single page has purist patting themselves on the back restating the obvious ad nauseum. I loved the dialogue system in the older games but Bethesda's chasing that bioware money.. sucks sure, but I've had 34 plus hours of solid gameplay to get over it.

Man, the tracking scope in this game is very cool. Kinda shocked how invested I am in the new mechanics (gun building, base building, etc.)

Yea, honestly I'm not going to cry over a dialog system that would likely contain badly written canned replies anyway. Anyway, my point is that most of the purists also dig the game so it's all good. A little bit of lamentation on what could have been ain't going to stop me from RPing Crazy Wasteland Wanderer.

I'm doing Old Guns and am in the tunnels and
having a lot of trouble killing Sarge. Well not killing him. Killing him is easy. My problem is that I keep dying when he explodes. How far do I need to get back?
I waited till he overheated thrn killed him as his fusion core was exposed. He never exploded for me.

P
ickman
is one fucked up dude... Wonder what his backstory is except the obvious

Really loving the atmosphere in some buildings

Exploring is by far the best part of this game. Was just wandering through Downtown Boston looting dumpsters and stumbled upon.
Swan's pond
That was scary

Fair enough/ well put.

Hang on

molecular level is when I first get to the institute right? I accepted joining them and have been told to meet everyone. I'd rather not join them and ruin my ending.

I don't think I've seen mass fusion ?

Molecular Level is
building the relay
which depending on which faction you chose to do that task can lock you out of certain trophies but it does not lock you out of finishing the game by allying with that faction later.

Mass Fusion is
after Institutionalized, Synth Relay, and Battle of Bunker Hill
which forces you to go directly against a specific faction. It is the first point of no return as far as endings go with a specific faction. Where you are is OK
, you can still side with other factions. You can basically rescind your allegiance by just not doing more missions for them.

Anyone else unable to bring dogmeat with them? It bothers me so much to hear him cry and see him hurt. Its just really tough to see. Loving this game though, wish I could leave work and play all day!

Thanks :)

You guys who wear Power Armor all the time; do you fast travel?

It seems like you'd run out of Fusion Cores if you walked everywhere.

I've uncovered most of the top half of the map and I've only found about 15-20 cores.

Fast travel doesn't seem to drain the fusion cores at all so I always fast travel when I'm wearing power armor.

Also Spray 'n Pray is beyond OP.

Exploding rounds, it's not even a challenge. Trying to hide and run is futile. I will just shoot near your general vicinity and you will die in a glorious explosion.

Fighting a huge number of synths is amazing as all their extra bits go flying in a spectacular flurry. As well shooting at their legs and watching them all start to crawl around is so great. Ghouls too. Though they rarely survive a single shot now. It just wrecks them completely.

Sometimes I use him as bait and when all the enemies surround him I throw a grenade.

Then I don't heal him afterwards.

For what it's worth it's a big grey area that hasn't been answered yet so I'm going off the fact that starting Mass Fusion
The game asked me if I wanted to ruin my relationship with the BoS
. I did read ps3trophies guide on Fallout 4 which outlays the most efficient way to get trophies and they are very clear that you get locked out of trophies based on your decisions in Molecular Level. But if you are only interested in seeing the different endings or not picking the current faction you are with, you seemingly still have some time to choose.

I've been creating saves after every mission starting with Molecular Level and jotting down their numbers just to be sure I can go back.

Cool, but what I was really asking was does wearing Power Armor all the time mean you HAVE to fast travel? Because I like to wander the wasteland exploring but that seems dumb to do in Power Armor because I only have 20 cores.

How viable is always wearing power armor. It seems cores are purely limited

Exactly what I want to know. All people every say is "There are a ton of Fusion Cores" Well, I've been playing for 30 hours and I've only found about 20 cores.

Guys building a building is pissing me off to no end.

So floors can only be wood. I spent not to much time laying it down. Than I wanted to use metal walls. Well I made the mistake of truing to do it from one end to the next. Found it should do the corners first than fill in the rest.

Got that done plus a door in. Now trying to make a second floor type thing on one side that week have a balcony to shoot from. Stairs are only wood so I chose it. But it is taller then the walls I laid down.

I have up at this point.

Also how do you make gates? What is a good defense layout?

Gates are in Fences and there is a room section with stairs attached.

I never figured out the individual staircase. I guess it's for outside.

Exploring with PA is probably not a great idea, though you could probably get away with it. Cores really aren't a huge issue, you find them all over and can buy them pretty cheap, but you can easily go through a few exploring a zone and going through a major building or two. So it depends on your usage.

Depends on how far you are into the story. I have 40 and I've only depleted one core so far and I haven't stolen any from the Brotherhood of Steal or vendors. High Hacking gets you into a lot of rooms with Fusion Cores. But also once you get to the mission after Molecular Level there are a lot laying around in the building. Your 20 will last you a very long time and long enough to start collecting more.

If you don't sprint the cores will last at least a half hour to an hour of exploration. I went all the way from the edge of the Glowing Sea to the final spot, walked the whole way, and didn't even use half of a core. Fought some Alpha Deathclaws along the way as well.

On that note, I actually found a weapon off a Power Armor enemy that uses Fusion Cores as ammo, going to try it out tonight.

There was a sanctuary I saw that had a hippie robot, when I cleared the place and settlers moved in the robot vanished? Is that suppose to happen?

I've only completed 1 main story mission so maybe that's my problem but I've cleared out a TON of ares along the top of half of the map. I find them every once and a while in basements, but not often. If vendors sell them, maybe the best thing to do would be to figure out how to get a ton of money and just keep buying them since I assume vendors will restock.

All in all, I haven't really needed the Power Armor but it would be nice to have more than 70-80 armor.

Do you have that scrounger perk. Wouldn't that help with cores?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Why wouldn't we unlock everything though? If you put in the time, surely this is possible if there's no level cap?

Well the higher you level the slower it takes to level up. So when you are over 50 you will need a lot of exp to level up. There are a lot of perks too. 10 i think per special 7 specials = 70 + most have 3 or 4 ranks. I guess in theory you could...

There's a terminal linked to him in the barn in the center of the area. It does things to him, did you mess with it?

The game actually says in the loading screen that the further south you go the more difficult it gets. Start exploring down there and you'll run into Deathclaws, Mirelurk Hunters, Radscorpions, and you'll be wishing you had that Power Armor (;

But progressing the story helps, there's a lot of containers that are lootable that have Fusion Cores in them for example when you start working for the Brotherhood of Steel.

Found my first good Legendary item.

Cunning Resin Synth Chest Piece.

DMG resist: 22
Rad resist: 18
Energy resist: 24

Agilty: 1
Perception:1

I've actually been killing all of those up at the top of the map. Heck, I just took out four Deathclaws last night. One was an Alpha but I don't know what level it was since I don't have that perk that tells me.

I think the main reason I want to start wearing Power Armor more is because it looks fun and would give extra protection. Having to get out to Hack computers or Pick Locks is kind of a pain, though.

It depends. By like level 30 when you have nothing to buy, or earlier if you are high CHA or have perks to get caps/extend core time, you can easily afford a constant supply of vendor power cores. Once enemies stop using Pipe weapons guns are worth alot. Also all that .38 ammo you never use are caps.

You can hack and lockpick in armor, you just cannot craft or sleep/sit.

Encountered my first truly annoying bug
Both dirty water and purified water disappears from my workshop for some reason (maybe other stuff too but they are the only thing that I've noticed)
Not a major problem but its annoying for cooking/crafting

Also at level 51 and probably an equal number of hours in the game I now have 10 complete suites of power armor. 1 Raider, 1 T51b, 2 T60, 2 X-01 and 4 T45d.

And I haven't touched any of the major faction quest lines. I'm assuming I will get a lot more come hooking up with the BoS.
