He's already more bad ass than most of the Jedi in the prequels that can swing at someone's head and miss by like two feet.

I'm curious if these new films are going to gently grandfather all the old characters out of the series as it moves forward. It's always been the common belief that R2D2 and C3PO would have a constant presence in the series, but I'm getting the feeling that Kathleen Kennedy is looking to shake up that formula to make way for the new. I don't think that a droid trio will work in these films. Someone on another forum stated that he believes that Luke will end up becoming the Gandalf in these newer films in order to stand apart from the slain mentor trope of the earlier films.

One thing I'm curious about is if they decide to eventually cast a new alien. Will it be nonverbal like Chewbacca, or will they aim for one that can speak with non subtitles. Because Jar Jar never worked in the prequels, they ended up having Yoda carrying the heavy load. For this new film, it looks like they aren't using the new cast as direct analogs for the old cast the way that episode 1 attempted to do.

Posting here too, maybe the thread title could do with an update since we are dumping each new bit we see in here.

A few bits of merchandising aside, this is the first time we have clapped eyes on the character, who is described by LucasFilm as a “vigilant law officer on a mostly lawless world” who “keeps order in a frontier trading post”. He’s also apparently “tough and humorless”.

I can't get over the fact that the background's simply a reversed shot from the second teaser trailer, as nice as the composition of the ships is.

Finn's back & forth with Han there is a damned good sign.

"You up for this?"
"HELL no."

It's been what - 35 years since we've had back & forth like that in Star Wars?

There's something about that shot where Finn raises the lightsaber that reminds me of the OT lightsaber effects. Can't really put my finger on it. Maybe I'm just seeing things.

I can die now then, that was satisfying enough.

But really, Boyega looks like he is really going to kill this role, in those few clips his character radiates personality, strength, presence.
Boyega and Ridley both look incredibly in the movie, much more than I could have hoped, and I think their characters are going to be warmly and passionately revered after the movie comes out. They belong in this fictional universe.

I feel lik JJ went full anime with his camera work. Everything looks só energetic and powerfull. It looks great!

Can't handle the hype anymore.
