Strange... turned on FRAPS for the first time and the game seems to cap out at 72 FPS for me, which is exactly have of my monitor's refresh rate.
Anyone else experiencing this? Could this be the issue that people were reporting about the game locking at 30 FPS (half of a typical 60hz monitor)?
Okay, this is out now and I just tested it and it works really well. Was at Swan's pond and framerate was 45 before and 60 after. These are my settings for the mod
fTargetFramerate=60.0
fShadowDrawDistMin=3000.0
fShadowDrawDistMax=20000.0
Set iPresentInterval=0 in the .ini files in your documents, and then enable vsync through your graphics driver control panel.

Thanks!
Got it running at 100+ FPS a lot of the time now. I think it might be messing with how the dialogue plays, though... Sometimes the next line of dialogue will start before the NPC finished the previous line.
Yeah, as has been said many, many times in this thread going over 60 fps is a no-no.
Thanks!

I initially locked to 75 (but Inspector always makes it 3 or 4 higher for me, so it was usually 78) and I never had any problems. I only decreased it to 60 just in case. Might put it back upfor that extra smoothness 60 can't give.It was previously capping at 72 FPS for me, and I never encountered any issues. I might just knock it back down to that.
This game is kind of a mess.
What's the best method for a 30fps cap?
How so? I've pumped over 50 hours into it on my PC and it's been great.

Highest I've seen is 70% usage across my two GPU cores (GTX690) and it gives me about a 10-20fps boost over non-SLI (though I would need to do more testing to be more accurate, but it does improve the framerate on my system). This is with the Arkham City SLI compatibility bits. The Max Payne 3 compatibility bits gave me a bigger boost in framerate but introduced some noticeable stuttering so I switched back but it's worth a try.The performance for me is absolute dog poop in SLI.
With no SLI (one GPU), I'm getting around 30FPS @ 5K w/ all settings maxed out. Sometimes it dips to 20FPS which is horrendous.
With SLI tweak (inspector), GPU usage is ~ 50% across all four GPUs but the framerate is still the same! Really pathetic.
Anyhoo... the game is somewhat fun so far. Haven't really gotten into it much yet.
So wait, does SLI not work without a tweak in this game? Or has that since been patched. SLI on my 970s is enabled and the game is running so I figured it was working fine. Have not checked GPU usage or anything. Do I have to force it somehow?
Nvidia hasn't released an SLI profile for it yet so it does need to be forced on currently.
How do I force it? Looking forward to see what performance gains I receive.
Also, any word on official SLI support?
Yeah, that. But the SLI compatibility bits gives better results than forcing it with AFR2 (or at least it does on my system).Select SLI_RENDERING_MODE_FORCE_AFR2 under SLI rendering mode in Nvidia Inspector.

If I didn't get this on CDKeys I'd be getting a refund on Steam.

Even with a lot of stuff on high/medium it drops to the 20s in the city areas.
What bits are you using?

With SLI = My performance is fantastic. Also random crashes to desktop every 10 minutes or so...Edit: I see there's a workaround for Fallout 4, although it doesn't seem to be ideal.
I know plenty who run it find on a 290x, however I do know the game is very hard on CPUs
Even setting "bBorderless=0" and "bFull Screen=1", I see the desktop/windows on the right side in Windows 7. The settings persist after the game closes. Do you see a solid black screen? I'm using an nVidia card if it makes a difference.I'm probably jinxing it by saying this but I've not had a single crash in the game with SLI enabled in 62 hours play time. Perhaps Windows is a contributing factor; I'm still on Win7.
I don't know if it's worth mentioning, as possibly another contributing factor, but the game always tries to switch to borderless windowed mode for me, regardless of the setting I choose, which puts the game window on the left side of the screen with the desktop still visible in the background on the right side (I have a 21:9 monitor), so I needed to edit the Fallout4Prefs.ini file and set the game to fullscreen manually and make the file read-only.

The loading times are fucking ridiculous as long as you play in frame limited fullscreen.
Switch to Borderless Windowed mode or uncap your framerate to cut your loading times to less than 50%
I used to have loading times of around 60 seconds on my SSD, switching to Borderless Windowed reduced those to sub-20 seconds.

4.5 it was a typoSomething is wrong here. Game shouldn't do that, AMD performance isn't good, but drops down to 20s... drivers etc are up to date I guess.
ALSO i5 4690k @ 5.5ghz what the hell. Are you cooling that thing with liquid nitrogen?
I don't get how borderless windowed and loading times can be connected. There must be another factor at play here.

No SLI = Performance is much worse.... but no crashes whatsoever.
The amount of crashes was getting frustrating for me. I had to disable it![]()
You're in an 84 page PC performance thread.
This game runs like garbage on my i7 4790, 8gb ram, 280x....
