Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

My only complain here is how obvious the CGI looks. It's like they purposely want to make it look like CGI. Other than that I guess it's pretty ok. I like the mysterious vibe of the first trailer better though.

Edit:

Oh and I thought Lex was pretty cool.

That's just the style Snyder goes with, love it or hate it. He has a consistent look.

Any hope I had for this has just been snuffed out.

If it's just Batman fighting Superman interrupted by Doomsday then WW joins and they all defeat it together oh let us form a league for justice roll end credits...

Ugh.

that first bit with clark and bruce reminded me of how bad the Gotham show was at first about making references to future characters

"how do you feel about the bat vigilante *SMIRK*"

"oh ive just had bad experiences with freaks in clown suits *SMIRK*"

and top it off with that awful eisenberg bit about not pickin a fight with this dude har har get it

hated it

Honestly I was hoping the focus really would be on Bats and Supes for the bulk of it, and the climax some fuckery involving Lex. Which we're getting, really. I'm just not a fan of Doomsday as a concept at all. Maybe tying him to Zod will make it more interesting here.

I really hope he doesn't just turn out to be an uncontrollable beefy Zod that wants to destroy humankind out of spite.

Line would have been 10000% better if reversed

"If the Devil won't kill God... then man will do it."

Of course he is speaking about how Zod is the Devil on Krypton but either way both work but in reverse it's 100% better. Then again he is probably talking about how the governmental inquiries were in favor of Superman despite Luthor's schemes.
It's pretty obvious Lex is setting up the batman/Superman fight so

Man = Batman
Doomsday = Devil (Backup plan)

I'd rather that now then Doomsday. Plus, Supes still got plenty of other great villains.

Hell, I'd kill for Braniac in movie form.

I'd rather save Power Armor Lex or Braniac for a solo Superman film or Justice League. There would be wasted potential if you had them in a movie forming the Trinity.

Doomsday looks to be a toy of luthors making. Can't be going toe to toe with mr strong grip and possibly ruining those nice patterned shirts.

Mech suit Lex at most.

Using Doomsday this prematurely means a potentially interesting Superman film we'll never get to see. And I'm not even implying remaking Death of Superman.
Death of Superman is the only remarkable thing Doomsday has ever done, every other time he's just a token character thrown into a fight to stack the odds against the heroes. There's absolutely nothing interesting about him, he's just a 90's "wow so stronk and unstoppable" character.

So that trailer basically gave away the whole movie, complete with a Lex Luthor line that erased any doubt.,,

"If man won't kill God, the devil will do it!"

*Doomsday appears*

And then another City blows up.

Snyder is such a fucking hack. At least Affleckbat looks and sounds cool, I'll give them that.

What's wrong with a city? It's a common fighting place in a lot of super hero media. It's pretty obvious it's empty/vacated too, rewatch the clip.

Terrible, poorly edited trailer. Lex Luthor too over-the-top for my tastes. I still am holding out hope but man do I wish DC would excise Snyder from the DCEU.

I really enjoyed Jesse's take on Lex, but I don't agree with the direction they took him... if that makes sense.

They could totally mind swerve us and make him to be a total serious dick when not in public and that's just his public front or before he loses his hair and becomes cynical and a politcal leader.

This times a hundred.

>_>

Don't do this.

Is it?

Yes. Those fight scenes are garbage. I'm sorry.

The only saving grace was Affleck. Christian Bale was one of the worst Batman performances I have ever seen so Affleck looking better than him is not surprising. Too bad he is stuck with Snyder's direction and some poor supporting actors.

See I thought Bale was brilliant. But Affleck has won me over.

Holy crap, I'm reminded how much I loved Depp in that movie.

i think he was hilarious in it. hated the movie though but that willy wonka made me chuckle.

edit: did it ever occur to y'all...that the aquaman/cyborg/flash scenes might get cut? movies have editors you know.

we still havent even seen Aquaman and supposedly Ezra might be in it too

batman v superman gonna be a 10 minute fight

and then they'll team up and crack jokes

even as I had not much faith in the film I really didnt expect that route

See this post
And I wholeheartedly agree, but I think he could have been used as good plot device to to further explore Supes' weakness even with all the power he's got if used right.

But now he's just gonna get whacked by the trio

EDIT: But now that I think of it, Braniac could totally do that too

so you just go ahead and potentially spoil everyone who hasn't seen this image? what the fuck?
Yeah, but you quoted it bruh

dw i don't care

I was digging it until the end of the trailer

It just felt...I don't know, bad? The "I thought she was with you" joke made me cringe honestly

right there with you. That one joke nearly deflated all the hype I have for the film, because it suggests that this movie is completely at odds with itself tonally. I was all for a serious, grim comic book adaptation. The start of the trailer got me going...by the end of the trailer, I just kind of lost interest in what was happening.

Personally, my hype went from 'day 1' to 'will probably catch it on video'. I really thought, after the last trailer, everything was on point. My anticipation was at an all-time high but is now definitely in check. I really hope I'm wrong on this one, as I want it to be great.

No point in having the senators in on it then. Doomsday, most likely, is a back-up plan when the government eventually says, "Superman's alright with us". There's no reason for Lex to talk to the senator chick unless he wants (1) to fix this inquiry and / or (2) get Zod's body. I wouldn't be surprised if Lex kills her.

Am I crazy that it seems obvious that's what they will do? I don't envision him being directly political, though.

The Superman:Doomsday Hunter Prey trio of comics provided a pretty damn interesting backstory for him actually, and was a neat story in itself.

The Death of Superman as is with Doomsday would never be adapted as a Live Action movie anyways.

The first forty minutes of the film would have to be a continuous knock down fight tears a path through a city and a bit of countryside. Then introducing Cyborb Supes, Cadmus and Superboy, Steel, Eradicator.

I thought Doomsday was Abmination for a sec. Shouldn't they have kept that secret?

I will see it, but some wierd humor in there. I thought DC said no to any humor in this films? Or am I confusing that for something else?

Ugh.

Any superhero movie can be simplified into simple plot points like that if you wanted to. It's about if they do the plot points justice, which we can't possibly tell from a short trailer.

that first bit with clark and bruce reminded me of how bad the Gotham show was at first about making references to future characters

I think you're looking at this through a very negative view. None of those were nods to the audience or intended to make you "get it haha". It's just banter.

For the people unhyped because of Doomsday, how did you expect this film to play out?

Not unhyped because of Doomsday, unhyped because they spoiled a major surprise. Did the majority of us know the doomsday was gonna appear? Yes, but it's always better to leave the element of surprise.

Going into a movie even with the slightest difference of expectation is always better than going into a movie where you know exactly what's gonna happen and you're just waiting for the joker to make his cameo.

I don't know what "marvel comedy" is, but it's definitely possible to do humor in grimdark setting. If employed properly can be a good pressure release valve too. Snyder is simply not adept enough to make it work as you can tell.

I say Marvel comedy because some of Lex's lines and delivery reminded me of Hammer in Iron Man 2.

It's like they listened to the whole "too serious" complaints while watching the final battle in Age of Ultron.

Brainiac is definitely an A tier villain. Hell I'd save him for Justice League if we're being honest. Either would work well and I fully expect them to do.

Yeah, Brainiac is a big-league villain. Whether in a Superman solo movie or Justice League Part 1.

The first forty minutes of the film would have to be a continuous knock down fight tears a path through a city and a bit of countryside. Then introducing Cyborb Supes, Cadmus and Superboy, Steel, Eradicator.

I would die a happy man if they ever made a live action version of "Reign of the Supermen" and "Return of Superman"

I think he's actually contrasting Superman and Zod there. Not that it makes me cringe any less hearing it out loud.

Yeah, I mean regardless of whether the devil is supposed to mean him or the guy he resurrecting to do his will, he's still basically saying "I'm evil!" Which is silly.

I hope I'm wrong on Eisenlex though. He just hasn't sold me yet.

Lex has to be the villain for the final act. I seem to remember Jesse had to shave his head at some point for the role. So at some point in the film he has to go bald. And from my limited knowledge of Superman stuff I'm sure it will be in the films latter half due to an accident. Therefore putting him against the two heroes. There is hope for mech lex still!

WB wants to get everyone out there asap to play catch up and do JL already. just gonna hurt the whole thing, expectedly

not that this trailer shows us shit we didnt know already, but it kinda helps put things into perspective
