MarvelGAF hails it as the greatest thing since sliced bread and becomes convinced that it will outgross Star Wars.
Surprised that people would think that giving away the twist was such a brilliant marketing strategy.
Is that what DCGAF has been saying in response to this trailer?

What twist? It's in the name of the movie and it was in the synopsis.
I really doubt this was a "OH SHIT" plot twist like everyone's saying it is.
Besides, the general public seems to be liking this trailer; mostly.
Iron Man 3 gave away the Party Protocol. Avengers gave away the Chitari Worm. MoS gave away the Metropolis fight and the wub wub machine. TDKR gave away the end brawl between the police and Bane's forces.I think you can show end of movie spoilers if you're vague on plot beats
Most comic movies actually show the finale but you don't know the context until you see the film
But here you get the general idea in this trailer
I recall a few Marvel zealots saying that AoU would outgross TFA. Most dismissed them as out of their minds, though. Is that what DCGAF has been saying in response to this trailer?

No, a lot of fanboys aren't big on this trailer. It's grown on me to the point that I like it now, but i'm not crazy about it either. Casuals seem to really like it, so its well placed in front of Star Wars.Is that what DCGAF has been saying in response to this trailer?

Whatever, fanboy. I want to see the receipts.I like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Justice League, and DC. I have literally been reading DC longer than most people posting on GAF have been alive. I am a huge fan of Batman, having read every issue of Batman and Detective, pre-nu52, and most after. I have been waiting a long time for a Justice League movie.
The most recent trailer is horrible. And not just slightly bad, but actively pushing people who want to like it away levels of bad. Some of the scenes are just terrible. I'm a big fan of Jesse Eisenberg in some stuff, but he's just horrible here. Not funny, not creepy, just awkward. Also, in half the scenes Affleck looks constipated.
Maybe the movie will be better. I certainly hope so.
But did any of those go against the narrative that the marketing was pushing? Most of the negative reaction I've seen in regards to Doomsday's appearance didn't have anything to do with some shocking twist but instead devalues the heavy focus around the batman and superman conflict.
Batman V Superman is in a unique situation where its Toho monster movie name and marketing makes it seem like more than just an abrasive first time scrap between the heroes a la The Avengers. Is it really so baffling that certain people look at the Doomsday section of this trailer, and the sudden shift towards a light hearted team up, and feel like everything that's been sold to them at this point will just be the equivalent of another origin story?
What twist? It's in the name of the movie and it was in the synopsis.

I....acknowledged that this trailer was offputting for people unlike the others. Why are you trying to convince me? We're on the same side. lol
Apologies, I didn't mean you in particular, I just meant in general when I see some who are confused at why others feel like this trailer "told them the whole movie."
MarvelGAF hails it as the greatest thing since sliced bread and becomes convinced that it will outgross Star Wars.
"Damn MarvelGAF, always gotta be such blind fanboy poopyheads."Marvel people are just get excited about everything. The more they show the better. The more quips the better. The more ridiculous it is the better. Trailers and other pieces of hype aren't under the same critical light.
Cool, cool. Didn't mean to be snippy there, so apologies for that.

I think the Doomsday reveal was the biggest sour spot. You could have cut that and replaced it with a bit of Wonder Woman dialogue to either Bats or Supes. Probably could have kept Lex's role a little more vague as well.
What pisses me off the most is that Marvel doesn't get nearly as much hate.
They have plenty of mediocre movies yet they are universally loved on GAF.
They should just rename this forum to MarvelGAF
Doomsday reveal is a big deal, because they have been hyping the movie as a fight between Superman and Batman all along, just look at the movie title itself. The draw of the movie was originally the fight and the outcome between the two characters. To see who's the winner. And now we all know its a draw, and they will team up against a villain where they will win the day in the end.
We don't know if it's a draw. We know they come together eventually, but we don't know who wins their fight or how. If anything, the real thrill is seeing how Batman tries to neutralize, stun, delay, distract, etc. Superman. In some comics, Clark wrecks him. In others, Bruce is just trying his best to buy time and adapt on the fly, using his gadgets and intellectDoomsday reveal is a big deal, because they have been hyping the movie as a fight between Superman and Batman all along, just look at the movie title itself. In truth, I'd say Batman has never "won" a fight. The cool part isn't who wins, but how the fight progresses.
Even still,I don't think age of Ultron gets talked about as Much as MoS heredude stop playing the victim here
if anything the amount of MCU trolls that shit up every marvel thread with no repercussions vastly outweighs the DCtrolls.
this is a shit trailer that is rightfully getting shit as in the last 45 seconds every thing goes to hell. And people call DC out on it and now you are getting defensive?
LOL Marvel gets no hate
-Did you see the Age of Ultron OT? Damn near everybody shitted on the movie for how bad it was
-I'm tired of Marvel Movies and Marvel Movies are Cookie Cutter threads
- Shit there was a OT like 2 weeks Ago titles "Avengers 2012 What a fucking mess"
Get outta here with this shit
Even still,I don't think age of Ultron gets talked about as Much as MoS here
Nor has it been nearly three years of folks reminding you how much they dislike a movie...whether needed or not
LOL people have been doing that with the Phantom Menace for 16 years.Nor has it been nearly three years of folks reminding you how much they dislike a movie...whether needed or not
I don't know..don't think the Civil War thread turned into a thesis on the age of Ultron movie...though could be wrongMeh its besides the point I'd Say people Shit on Both Equally, if not more on Marvel Due to having 2 movies a year.

If you didn't think that's how the movie was going to go this entire time, you were being incredibly naive.
Really, because almost nobody talks or even jokes about a common threat uniting both of them in every previous Batman v Superman threads.
Well for one, AoU had a better reception than MoS. But additionally, MoS has the unfortunate circumstance of being the only DCCU entry to date. It says far more about how divisive MoS was than some pathological need to hate on DC.Even still,I don't think age of Ultron gets talked about as Much as MoS here

Isnt that in the official synopsis?
Lex Luthor. Doomsday is nothing if not a pawn in Luthor's schemes. It's not been subtle in marketing.

Yeah, and to tie that in with MoS, that movie gets mentioned a lot because it's right now the only movie in the DCCU to compare to Marvel's entire catalog over 8 years. Of course it's going to be brought up again and again when fanboys need to get their snark on, especially since it wasn't actually good. Decent and OK, but meh. And this being an internet message board dominated by a bunch of 20-something know-it-alls (I include myself so not talking down to anyone here), you have to expect a lot of snark. It comes with the territory. Look at any sports message board or the sports community threads on this forum.
In other words, there is no vast conspiracy. There is no other side out to get you and your own. It's just...internet. Everyone shits on everything.
Nah. Marvel has two films per year, but they're generally well received. Especially last year, when everyone loved TWS and GotG. They have their haters, but MoS is in a pretty unique position of having literally 3 years worth of people repeating how much they despise it, followed by people who liked it defending it. Even the worst MCU films were just kind of forgotten at best, with IM2 being the only one that still comes up regularly.Meh its besides the point I'd Say people Shit on Both Equally, if not more on Marvel Due to having 2 movies a year.
I do appreciate them fighting in the ruins of Man of Steel, hopefully they realize not to spend money on rebuilding the area.
Did you leave the room while watching the trailer, lol. That didn't happen at all.
Nothing against Doomsday himself, but he's kinda wrong here. Need him for the of Superman story. Darkseid also too early. So they're going to kill superman in this one right?
Why else have doomsday there.
FYI, I hate doomsday as a character. I've only seen his incarnations in movies/tv shows, and he'd always been this dumb big brutish character.
Should have been Darkseid instead. Fuck it, have him there for two movies. Darkseid is a character who needs more than one movie. Why waste money and budget on doomsday.
Unless Superman kills Luthor, I don't see how Superman's methods would trigger Batman towards taking him down. And it would be redundant to the already existing and already valid motivations for him doing so in the movie.Lex Luthor could have been a catalyse sub-plot in a Batman v Superman dominance movie. Say Superman foiled a plan of Lex Luthor in act 2 and Batman criticizes his method of solving the problem. It allows them to woven and integrate it better (and other Justice League members' cameo and subplots) into the larger plot of their difference in the ideology before ending it into a fight in act 3. The various Justice League members meet each other for the first time, and there's your "Dawn of Justice" part. At least, that's what I was hoping and thinking before this trailer.
And if I were to have any say in anything, i will save the DC trinity big screen team up for the Justice League movie. People pay money for this money to see both Batman and Superman fight. People pay money for Justice League movie to see the JL teaming up against the common threat.
Movie also looks like a launch PS4 game.
I want to like the movie and this particular trailer made that more difficult, so, no, I don't really think it's hyperbolic. The trailer literally had the opposite of its intended effect for me. You clearly feel differently, and that's okay, but for me, this has been the worst of the trailers. For me, a lot of the things I've been concerned about (Eisenberg's Luthor, Affleck's Batman, how the costume looks in action for Batman, the plot of the movie, etc) got reinforced by this trailer, suggesting that Snyder is making a movie that others may love, but may not work well for me. I thought Wonder Woman and Superman generally looked great, and the spectacle value was high, but I knew those things would be good, and they aren't enough to overwhelm some of the other stuff.i mean, the editing is a bit janky and it gives away a bit too much, and yes, tries to put the film in a completely different light compared to the other trailers, but "actively pushing people who want to like it away levels of bad?" that's just a bit hyperbolic, don't you think?
Darkseid is way too early to show up as an actual antagonist here. Doomsday serves the purpose perfectly well of a physical antagonist to fight - atleast once Bruce and Clark are done duking it out. Lex isn't that. He's a mental villain, atleast until you put him in a metal suit.So they're going to kill superman in this one right?
Why else have doomsday there.

Mongul has history though. He can have motivations, a backstory, plans. Including him here would be too much, in addition to the question of "How the hell did Mongul get here and why is Lex teaming up with another alien?"Nothing against Doomsday himself, but he's kinda wrong here. Need him for the of Superman story. Darkseid also too early.
Should've went with a weakened up Mongul or just Lex building a giant robot.
