Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Just got the platinum as well.

So... what do I play now? :(

Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy. Dark Cloud is kinda an easy plat and the weapon glitch will help out a lot.

I'm still focusing on Dark Cloud and playing bits of FFVII.

Tifa's limit break reels are all messed up.. :-/

This is close to being the perfect version but it isn't cos of a few minor bugs.

At least there is a mod to fix the music loop issue on the steam version..

Bragging about trophies after having cheated always makes me laugh.
I figure most of us have 100%'d the game at least once or twice over the last 18 years, anyway. I know it like the back of my hand, the cheats just save some time. It's not even the first time I've played the game this year.

I bought this the other day and have been very impressed with it. It's been a total nostalgia trip as I haven't played this game since 1999 and it still hits the same feels that it did then.

I hope the game sells well enough so we get similar releases of FFVIII and FFIX.

I don't know why but I always get sad when Cait sith does his thing in the temple. I understand he's a puppet and all but damn does the music make it hurt.

What is the quickest way of getting Gil? Back in my day it was maxing out All materia. I feel like that's going to be the biggest grind for me.

Maxing out All materia against Magic Pots with the triple and double AP equipment with the 3x speed cheat and you can probably get it done in a few hours.

Can someone provide the best guide for going through the game with collecting all the characters and side quests? I'd like to platinum the game but there's no way I remember how to do all that after so long.

Been playing through this kind of leisurely, just got to Junon. I honestly didn't notice anything wrong in the battles, including Tifa's LB slots. I'm still getting "Yeah!" nearly every time. Granted, it's been a couple of years since my last playthrough.

Sorry if this has been asked a bunch, but for someone who hasn't played more than a few hours of FFVII before, is this the definitive version to play? Or am I better off playing the PS One classic version? I own it physically on PS1, but also digitally on PSN which could be played on Vita, Vita TV, or PS3. I don't care about trophies btw.

Even to this day, the small banter between characters is some of the best written dialogue in Final Fantasy. Little touches here and there really make the characters feel like they have depth.

I hope they will be able to capture that in the remake.

oh my dear gawd...

i got pwned

:/

first boss?

the mech in front of the reactor just handed my ass to me about ten times in a row

:p

obviously doing something wrong but i'll figure it out

getting back to it in just a sec

When Barrett says "attack when the tail is up", don't attack when the tail is up.

I'll try that but I swear if it works, I'm going to reach through the screen and choke Barrett to death, slowly...

;)

The full dialogue is something like "attack when the tail is up.....<20 second pause> ...... And he's gonna counter attack with his laser"

It's just an issue with the way field messages are displayed. Everyone attacked when the tail was up on their first play through.

i seriously just laughed out loud

the entire time i was telling myself, "ok, he wants me to attack when the tail is up. i just need to figure out the timing or the right attack."

:p

tyvm for the tip

:)

I wish the Steam version had the 3X speed / no encounters and new achievements.

There's a mod to fix the music loop problem? :o

I love everything about this port except for one thing, and it might have been an issue in the PC version as well:

While in battle, and you do a summon.. when the animation of the character is complete and they fade/disappear, there is supposed to be this really cool sound effect that occurs as they are fading/disappearing. Totally and completely missing--booted up my PS1 version and verified that it's there in the original.

It's bugging me so bad. :(

After I get the platinum I'll probably just play Final Fantasy VII.

Ya, I just finished getting the Platinum and still want more Final Fantasy VII. I'll probably watch Advent Children tomorrow, it's been a while since I've seen it. It's always worth it just for the soundtrack and the fight scenes, even if I pretend like nothing in the story is canon.

If you can make sure you watch the Complete version.

3x speed with a three day weekend made this easier than I thought lol

I have a Blu-ray of Complete that I've never even watched before. I have no idea what's different, I bought it years ago because I buy FF7 everything, I just haven't felt compelled to watch it until now.

It's the definitive version of Advent Children. There are about 30 minutes of new (awesome) scenes.

I could give you a link with a list of changes and new scenes, but if you haven't seen it before maybe you should go in blind and be surprised.

EDIT: ... Well I suppose I can show you an old trailer. Song is the new theme for Complete, sadly it's only on the Japanese blu ray, the US one reuses the original song from AC.

That's cool, I'm looking forward to it.

Easy way to tell which scenes are new in Advent Children Complete is to just look for the scenes that are native HD. For whatever reason all untouched scenes from the original are upscaled.

Is there anything in the PS4 version that makes it really worthwhile? I already have a copy of this on Steam.

Bothered with getting Great Gospel for the first time in my life. Feels good man. I can't help but feel that levelling Aerith is the true way to play the game; you get a bunch of extra little scenes like her talking about Zack at Gongaga, or the small interaction between her and Tseng in the cave after Midgar Zolom. Plus her Fury Brand makes early limit levelling for other characters much quicker. I'm sorry for neglecting you all these years, Aerith. :( You're the true hero of FFVII.

And here's the crucial proof of my success:

I have to agree with you. I levelled her up on my first playthrough and I think it made me feel more connected to her as a character.

Been out the loop on FF7 for many years, I feel it's time to dust if my kids Vita and remote play this bad boy, will go for the plat as it seems real easy to do.

What's this Cosmo canyon Tifa glitch thing?

Just played this for about an hour earlier.

Man, it's still damn good, isn't it?

And it never stops being good. That's what I love about the game the most, it's awesome at every moment (except snowboarding). All the characters have meaningful sideplots that are wrapped up satisfactorily and it has one of the best climaxes of any game.

It would have been very easy for the game to lose its way and drop off in quality after you leave Midgar, but it just stays at an insane high throughout the entire journey. Every moment is still thrilling.

I was still in awe of how cool the cutscene and sequence of
Diamond Weapon attacking Midgar
is. It's all perfect. Except snowboarding. Fuck snowboarding.
