I'd be too worried about being fatigued in any way and negatively impacted for TFA. But going in for the OT is a better idea.

It's crazy to believe that there's a new Star Wars film coming out next week. I've been trying to contain my excitement, but as the day draws near it's becoming a lot harder. I'm always pretty happy with J.J. Abrams and his films, so I have no doubt that I'll completely satisfied with The Force Awakens. I do know, however, that there will be plenty of people here that will be outraged about something.

The character I'm most excited to learn about, besides Finn, is Captain Phasma. Ever since I saw her in a trailer a while back, I've been fascinated. I think it's the cape.

Also, Bossk better make a cameo.

Anticipating this film makes me forget I have a PoliSci final the day before rele--

Oh shit, I have a PoliSci final.

I feel like if I did the whole marathon right before the movie sitting there for hours and hours... it would take away from TFA. Id probably be tired and have a headache. I cant do it.

I expect we'll get a new "proper" Lucasfilm logo/music, considering that the logo they are using in trailers/TV spots for the new film is already updated compared to what's on the iTunes release with the weird fanfare.

The latter with the half-assed fanfare just seemed like a temporary thing they needed to do when the other films lost the 20th Century Fox fanfare for the most recent releases.

It's sorta why I'm not going to a midnight showing. I'd just be too tired and it'd take away from TFA. Soo...I'm seeing it at 1pm next Thursday with a friend then at 2:45pm on saturday with my Dad.

Why would you skip episode 6?

Cause its mostly bad.

Guess I should say come back from dinner intime for the thone room scene so you can see the only character development that happens in this movie.

After rewatching 6 it makes sense why Ford was so sour on star wars. His character was completely marginalized and had nothing to do that whole film.

this is a way better schedule. lots of nice breaks.

I'm gonna be watching 4567 like

but it's cool. it's three of my all time favorite films, for the first time on the big screen. I can't wait.

People skipping 6 now?

That's a new one.

Though, unless I watch with new people, I'd totally skip the first 40 minutes of 6

a question:

You think they'll mention midichlorians.in TFA? Or will they distance themselves from that whole thing?

No way, the Jabba stuff is great! and how the ending cuts between Luke and Vader and the other conflicts is really well done.

6 is the lesser of the OT but it's still better than any of the PTs by a huge margin

No, but in my opinion, not mentioning prequel stuff isn't really a case of hiding your shame but more on that, considering the current story timeframe, it's just way too damn irrelevant.

EDIT: In fact, even though JJ has said they have no mention in this film, I totally expect some form of explicit Sith presence in 8,9.

I'd expect prequel stuff will be referenced but only when it enhances the main story. Meaning midichlorians will never be mentioned again.

I have been debating this back and fourth most of the week, because I didn't know if I wanted to have myself get through the prequels.

But tonight I will begin my re-watch of the whole trilogy starting with Episode I.

Jesus, I hope the Prequels are not as bad as I remember.

They are.

From my recent experience of re-watching

I - I realize that it's just plain mediocre. Considering the other elements prior to its original release though, the excessive hate is still understandable.

II - UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

III - Still really decent.

i did this.

you'll be amazed at how bad those first two movies are. but this kinda makes you respect ROTS a bit more for not being so terrible.

Yeah, that's how I felt. I is saved by it's relatively fast pace, and some good set pieces (Podracing, Duel of the Fates)

In II, even the Lightsaber fights and battles are kind of lame. The only great setpiece in that is Obi-Wan vs Jango in the Asteroid Belt.

Speaking of Ep II

My entire group of friends doing the marathon with me was dying of laughter

AOTC is so unpleasant, ugh. I don't even like the Geonosian color palette so prevalent in the latter part of the film. I think I've been conditioned (in a sort of hidden Ludovico Technique) to associate those colors in Star Wars with AOTC's horrible quality and I kinda wince every time Geonosis appeared on Clone Wars, or I remembered those scenes in my mind, or whatever. Just eugh.

Can't wait for the marathon, if only so I can say I've seen every movie in theatres (I only saw I and II when they came out, skipped III and was a little too young for the Special Edition re-release of the original trilogy). Well, discounting the shitty Clone Wars movie.

Marathon starts at 4am leading up to the premiere at 7pm, so it doesn't sound like there will be any significant breaks.

Also, everyone should read Darth Vader.

AOTC is just a hard film to stomach, Phantom Menace is really dumb and badly thought out in a lot of ways but attack of the clones is just depressing to watch. I'd rather watch Jar Jar and Watto than most of that film

Yup, I posted a thread about this a while back (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1127681). The logo made for iTunes is awkward. The music is poorly edited and the logo (if it was somehow the final logo) would be one of the shortest logos ever. The reason I think it's not final, is the fact that when Disney took full control over the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Thor: The Dark World (Paramount still had involvement with Avengers and Iron Man 3), a new epic logo replaced the short logo that would follow up the logos of the major studios (Paramount, Universal, etc.). Starting with TFA, the LucasFilm logo will be the primary logo, as opposed to simply following the Fox logo, I think it too will get a new iteration. I have two hopes: 1- John Williams composes the fanfare. 2- It is new music and not related to Star Wars (unless they create a separate LuscasFilm logo for Indiana Jones with its own music).

Just rewatched Phantom Menace, what a crock of shit. May as well move onto Clones, get the worst Star Wars films out of the way first. (don't mention Clone Wars)

The Dooku confrontation is so bad in AOTC (among other things, easily the worst movie). Huge letdown from Duel of the Fates, one of the top three duels in the series with real tension and a score that is just to die for.

I had tickets for Friday in the select-a-seat, being served section. The thought all my coworkers were going to see it a day before me was too much to bear and I talked my wife into going 2 nights in a row. Have tickets for Thursday in general seating now also!

Am I one of the few here that remember or was old enough to see Star Wars on its release back in 77? I remember it being very warm then (May was it?) and my big sister took me. I remember the crowd cheering during certain scenes (can't remember which, I was 7 at the time) and the general good cheer.
Then saw Empire at the Odeon Leicster Square on opening night. I remember being depressed because Han Solo had been encased in carbonite.
Saw Return at my local on my own. Wish I had gone with someone that time.
Only other Star Wars film I saw at the cinema was Revenge of the Sith. But I am looking forward to Force Awakens though I have some reservations.

Tons of leaks. Don't go in there if you're trying to stay spoiler free.

Are the leaks confirmed in any way?

I think its pretty funny that people like spoilers so much. I remember there was one guy on gaf a few weeks ago that couldnt stop posting "GUYS, ITS LEAKED ALREADY ALRIGHT? THE WHOLE MOVIE! ITS ON THAT OTHER THREAD"

Everytime some one mentioned "Spoilers" he was there

It feels he was kinda proud of having read spoilers or something

I gotta admit, while most of II sucks and the romance plot is downright cringe-worthy, I always sorta liked the noir-ish subplot with Obi-Wan. If anything was close to a constant positive in the prequels for me, it was Obi-Wan.

III is easily my favorite of the prequels though, and it's actually a solid movie. I mean Anakin still sucks, but he's more tolerable than in the other films. I remember seeing it for the first time in the theater too, everyone clapped as the opening crawl happened and the intro of it was pretty cool too. I expect that same opening applause for TFA.

Lord that scene is bad. Like why the fuck would they just be using their arms while completely standing still. Worst part of the entire saga.

to be fair, they're trying to make that fight work with a really REALLY old Christopher Lee.

What really doesn't hold up from that fight (a lot of it doesn't) is the super bad CG used to replace the stuntman's face with Christopher Lee's. It's so bad
