I'm just gonna post this here, since I got spoiled (in Gaming side for some fucking reason) by a Junior who doesn't know how to spoiler tag things:

This is not how you spoiler tag things:

I really hope that
god I really love people to know that I watched this before most people
for the next movie.

And not say what you're spoiler tagging, if you're in a thread different from this movie.

If you're in a thread that's not related to this movie then you spoiler tag like this:

I really hope that (EP7 spoilers)
I'm a good person for not ruining the surprise for people who care about this
for the next movie.

Thank you, because all I can think of people who can't put a couple of extra words are just being asses.

It sucks bro. It really does. But I think it's time for people who want to go dark on this to do so now. Any possible place you visit can potentially have spoilers, Youtube comments, Twitch chats.. anything.

I just... Ahhhh

I was this close. My system was working, and I go into a SW gaming side topic and it takes one person. One.

That's an interesting interpretation of what Boke actually said.

That's an interesting comment on what I actually said.

I said I know people who like to spoil themselves. Then I said that those people (the people I know) do so to be smarmy about their "knowledge."

I made no judgement or claim on anyone other than my own acquaintances.

I know people like that. They want to feel all smug and superior when they lean over to their gob smacked friend and say "You think that's cool? Check out what happens next."

That's an interesting interpretation of what Boke actually said.

Lol of course there are people out there like that, but the people I'm referring to aren't the elitist type like that. They just want to go to the movie day one and just see how it all plays out and hopefully have a good time.

I mean many of us here have seen the OT more times than we can count. We know exactly what happens. I still get hype each and every time I watch them. It's the moments in those movies that captivate me. Vader is my favorite in the whole saga. Not because he's a cool looking villain but because his dialogue is awesome. James Earl Jones did a fantastic job with that delivery.

It all about seeing how certain scenes play out, the banter between the characters, the visual orgasm we'll all hopefully have. Also for me it's about being hype with that packed theater. It's an experience.

Even for someone that spoiled themselves with the plot. These are the things they will still go to see and be excited about. Not to be a smug asshole to their friends.

You're pretty much describing how I'm going to act around the people I see the movie with.

My wife who hates Star Wars and doesn't care and my Dad who will constantly get up during the movie to refill his popcorn if I don't keep him invested.

So what's the over/under for final WWBO?

No one really knows.

Obviously $1.2B+ would be a fantastic success from a money standpoint, but that would get the film labeled a failure on the internet.

I think that Jurassic World has raised the minimum WW gross that wouldn't be considered somewhat disappointing (given the hype) to the $1.75B ballpark.

A lot of that depends on untested overseas markets though.

:( Im so sorry

My head is telling me to stick to video games and movies for the next few days, even this thread feels a little unsafe.

That's an interesting interpretation of what I actually said.

How else was I supposed to interpret it?

Boke: Some people will still be excited to be the movie.
You: I know people like that! They LOVE TO LORD IT OVER PEOPLE.

What other sort of line am I supposed to draw between those two fairly direct statements? You're pretty straightforwardly equating "spoiled person enjoying themselves" to "spoiled person enjoying themselves due to a false sense of superiority."

What's interesting about me correctly interpreting what you said? You're even now, in the above response, explaining why my interpretation is correct.

This thread should absolutely be safe.

Calm down.

I'm talking about people I know. I'm not speaking about (and don't give two warm shits about) literally any other person.

Don't get pissy because you misunderstood my statement. The mistake is on you, not me.

Calm down

I'm not upset.

I also didn't misunderstand you.

The fact you're talking about a person you specifically know doesn't actually change anything you said at all, Plop. I assumed you were basing said opinion on people you know in the first place, because I'm giving you credit enough to not just pull entire anecdotes out of your pucker with no basis in reality.

ok. I saw exactly what you are referencing. You're still good bro. Don't get too hung up on that.

The fact you're talking about a person you specifically know doesn't actually change anything you said at all, Plop.

You didn't misunderstand me?

So either you're arguing that:

A) I don't actually know anybody who spoils themselves on movies to lord their knowledge over others

Or

B) I do know people like that but I shouldn't speak about them that way

Either way, you're arguing semantics. Which is a massive waste of time and soomething I refuse to do any further.

If you feel like continuing this conversation, you'll have to do it with someone else.

Have a fantastic day, and enjoy the movie when it comes out. I'm not a massive Star Wars fan, but this is sure to be a cultural touchstone for many. Those don't come around all that often.

Edit: Although I can't help shaking the feeling this is all based on a misunderstanding somewhere. Oh well. No hard feelings.

I think the issue here is that you just misinterpreted Boke's original statement, and now think that people are misunderstanding you by pointing that out. I agree that some people read advanced spoilers so that they can bait other people with their 'secret' knowledge. I agree that those people are annoying. I also agree with Bobby that you misinterpreted the other guy's post. Some people like to spoil themselves to build up their hype. Read a script and imagine how cool it will be to see that stuff played out. It has nothing to do with the other sort of people you bring up.

Gonna say this before I head to bed. Love you all. Just one more week. Most of us prob sly won't be this hype for another SW movie again.

I also keep thinking in one more week Boyega and Ridley will be the face of one of the most popular brands ever. What a time for them to be alive and congrats to them. Hell congrats to the entire cast.

Hey guys, just so we are clear the second act of Phantom Menace is beyond boring.

I think I have spent more time checking my phone and twitter then paying attention about whatever-the-fuck the senate is going on about.

I mean, I guess the Jedi Council stuff is kinda cool. That is a semi-interesting plot point, but everything else can pretty much fuck off.

But that mean I am close to the Duel of the Fates fight, so all is not terrible.

This is the first time I have watched it in a while, it isn't bad as much as its just meh with about 3 moments of "Okay, that is cool"

Mess - I've always considered the scenes at Coruscant (especially the senate) as a highlight in the film. Certainly more than Tatooine.

I guess, if it was written a bit better I would be way more into the Political Structure and the back-stabbyness of Palpatine against the Chancellor.

I just kinda feel like it drags, then again. I think the whole Watto part is not terrible and consider the Podrace a pretty good bit of momentum into the coruscant stuff.

I have a question as I have never been to a IMAX showing. I went to Fandango to get my reserved seat but, when it shows me the grid to pick my seat the whole thing is grey. How can I pay for an advance seat when there's no seat to pick? Wouldn't it just show it's sild out or am I missing something?

Why can't I make a party of more than 2? I can only do partners. Only 2 people. I can't seem to add more than that. It's frustrating. ( multiplayer )
Edit : oh.. This js for the movie lol

I think you're outta luck.

Late to some convos here but wanted to chime in:

AotC is far better than TPM. They're both pretty shit but at least AotC has entertaining scenes sprinkled throughout. There's the assassin at the beginning, then the Obi-Wan Vs Jango fight followed by their space chase, before getting towards the climax, which at least keeps it exciting enough to watch.
I was literally just checking my phone in my TPM rewatch out of boredom. It's complete nonsense until the Dual of the Fates (which is hilarious itself with the ballet moves going on).

And on the Yoda stuff, I really do not like his acrobatics. Like he's 900 years old and old and dying in the OT, but just 20 years earlier he's able to do those kind of tricks?
He should have had a lightsaber as a last resort and mainly for defense, while doing most of his fighting through his mastery of the force.

Got tickets on the 17th for a regular 3D screening, and a Cineplex VIP for the 18th.

I'm aiming for the IMAX version later in December when everything calms down a little.

Is the Clone wars movie worth cheking out before the tv show?

I didn't bother with it, and I was fine. Supposedly the only thing the movie does right is introduce Ahsoka, Anakin's padawan. I figured that's all I needed to know and skipped it.

For those that want to check out the Clone Wars essentials, there's this list. While it's a good list, I would note that generally 'honourable mention' should be bumped up to 'must watch'.

Some personal corrections on that per season:

S1: Ambush is a cool Yoda ep. Dooku Captured+Gungan General introduces Hondo. If you watch Cloak of Darkness + Liar of Grievous (you should), note that Bombad Jedi is the first chapter of that arc.
S2: I would watch this entire season, outside of maybe Lightsaber Lost. It's the most consistent Clone Wars season, with the stellar Geonosis arc as one of the highlights of the series. Cat and Mouse should be marked, awesome ep. Senate Spy sets up a later ep.
S3: Evil Plans and Hunt for Ziro are Cad Bane eps, so worth a watch. Mortis arc is a must. Closing eps are also worth it.
S4: First 6 eps can be skipped, then watch all the other eps. the Deception arc is fantastic, should be marked as must. Umbara = best arc of the series.
S5: I watched on blu-ray, and 'Revival' was placed before Eminence, where it belongs. Onderon arc is okay, nothing special. Youngling arc has a great first ep, but drags on a bit near the end. Droid arc (starts with 'Secret Weapons') is a failed experiment, wouldn't bother with it
S6: watch the entire thing, it's only 13 eps and has some great arcs.

Haven't even booked my tickets yet for this. I've only watched all the movies once so gonna need to watch through them again before going to see this. Thinking of buying the blu ray set but it's crazy expensive.

Hoping to go during the week after it releases so maybe it will be a little quieter. Not going to my city's main cinema or IMAX. will drive out a bit to a quieter area. Usually i'd not bother but i don't know if I'll be able to go without it being spoiled and I have never got to see a star wars movie in the cinema before so this is my first time.

.

This fight and the excessive jumbled speech in the prequels made Yoda a joke character on the level of Jar Jar. They really ruined an amazing character that had been created in empire and just shat all over it.

Wait, there's spoilers around already?

Come on, I can't dissapear from the net for one whole week :(

I think the entire movie had been spoiled like a year ago or so. Thankfully I've seen only one spoiler, sort of a big one, but otherwise I've managed to avoid them.

Got the Despecialized editions of the original trilogy all ready to be watched starting tomorrow until Tuesday... then Wednesday night baby!

We're almost there.

I started my marathon with TPM yesterday. It's the first time I've watched it in a while, but I'd say Tatooine drags on too long instead of Coruscant. I like the podrace but that entire segment of the film feels extremely padded.

ah , really? them I'm lucky I avoided it all. Just scared that spoilers appears more now. I'll hate it if I get spoiled like Juan29.zapata said (considering I post on Gaming side and I'm playing Battlefront nowadays).

Yeah, I rewatched TPM last night and everything between the podracing and Duel of the Fates is insufferable.

I did realize that I wouldn't mind seeing the movie again in theaters, just to hear the podracing scene on a crazy sound system. I played the hell out of Episode 1 Racer when I was younger, and each one of those sound effects was nostalgia-inducing.

I might come off Facebook until Thursday. People are dropping spoilers in the most random places just to be a dick. For example: The Lad Bible comments section haha

Edit: And YouTube comments, and Twitch, and Twitter. Damn, everywhere is a potential minefield!

Watching Clone wars, as that's the only gap I've not taken care of in preparation for TFA, man these are amazing. I love the portrayal of the Republic and Prequel world here. I'm using the episode guide which recommends which shows to watch over the course of 5 seasons.

Surprisingly deep. Thanks GAF for pushing the series, I wrote it off as a kids show lacking any depth. I was wrong.

Don't forget to watch Rebels as well.
