Riding the Tiny Bronco at 3x speed was awful for my eyes/brain, probably the draw distance giving a distorted looking. I still feel strange half an hour after stopping the game.
It had a lower introductory price.
lol I was going to buy this after finishing Yakuza 5 because it was 11, I checked now and I'm not spending 16 in this. What the fuck that price.
I'll wait till some store sales or something.

Seriously, the x3 accelerator is one of the best things they could add.

Perfect.
The best part is how easy it is to activate. I usually only turn it on for random encounters, but it's great during battles I want to take slower too but don't want to sit through long summon animations.
I need every Final Fantasy to be rereleased with this feature.

I still think that the original ending meant that
Holy judged humans as dangerous to the planet and absorbed them back into the lifestream. Bugenhagen hinted that it was a possibility and this is the only Final Fantasy ending I can think of that doesn't show you any of the human characters and what they're up to after the fact. Just Red XIII and his kin/progeny.

Dang. I just took on Midgar Zolom. Cloud was tail kicked out of the battle, but Barrett had Enemy Skill equipped, so later in the fight it used beta on the remaining members. They were wiped out, but it wasn't a game over because Cloud was still alive.
Beta learned in Materia. Awww Yiss.
EDIT: Nevermind, even though it said I learned it, it's not there. It must be a condition that your character has to survive or win the battle.

Jenova was essentially falling apart piece by piece. Its heart was the only thing left when it reached Sephiroth. Cloud was a much more trustworthy holder of the Black Materia because he was essentially a perfect Sephiroth clone that wasn't dying and could be manipulated. Sephiroth also had a major vendetta against Cloud for killing him so using him as the instrument of his rise to power was the perfect vengeance for him.

It's the first PS4 game I can actually play and enjoy via the Remote Play app on my phone. Would be even better on Vita's Remote Play!

The one I had to actually concentrate on, and use a guide for, was the Best Bromance trophy. There's a lot of specific choices you have to make from the very beginning of the game, up until the date scene at the Gold Saucer.

Everything else is basically obtained through attrition as you grind up to level 99....granted that you dont miss the materias that drop after boss battles.

played for a few hours until junon. the last time i played the game was when it released in 97. the game still holds up remarkably well. i only use the 3x boost; that shit is a god send.

Dont get frustrated with the fights, it gets really cool with all the materias and stuff. Have fun at the gold saucer and try to find hidden stuff by yourself
If you just want to focus on the story, you can use the "cheats" for an easier game experience.
Go into config and put the battle speed on max, because it's kinda slow. Also you can use L3 to speed up the game whenever you feel it is running slow and tediously. If you want more of a challenge as well, change the battle commands to active. This means enemies won't wait to attack you while you are fiddling in the spell or item menus.

Put fury on everyone and grind it out. I did allot of it while farming for gold and exp on disc 3.
Also find areas that battles with like 5 creatures and equip strong all magic to easily kill them all to get your kill counter up.
Yes I would love this very much. Just imagine FFIX with 3x speed, game would be bought on day 0.

This is great with Matra Magic for those kills you need and the enemies do enough dmg to fil up that LB bar fast.

The area around Mideel is great for Disc 1 grinding.
All + Fire in areas that spawn enemies in groups of no less than three, sometimes four. Like outside of Mideel.
Platinum took me 20 hours as well, that seems to be average with cheats and already knowing where everything is.

I only have played this game using remote play, its tailor made for this, and because this game is turn base RPG, conection lag is never an issue.

I was as surprised as you when I learned today that it had a limited-time discounted price.
When I checked the EU store before today, it didn't show any "discounts" or deadlines. I just thought the game was 10,99. I even commended them for the price to my friends, lol.
If I had known about the deadline, I would have bought it. I didn't...
i don't really understand why people would want to make the game easier than it already is. if you can actually get beta before trine (i did it once many years ago), you're already at a level that can trivialize that entire stretch of the game anyway. i've always found the practice of grinding to be an absurd waste of time regardless since regular progression yields as much experience in a handful of battles as an hour of sticking to one area and grinding it out.
in my current playthough i fought jenova birth at level 15, materia keeper at 25 and just beat godo at 28. the challenge is just right and i find it far more enjoyable than any time i decided to cheese the game a bit.
that said, by biggest piece of advice for this game is to set the battle speed to max and ATB to wait. battles become extremely brisk while still giving you to ability to stop and pick your attacks.
Oh, the discount ended? Shame, I'm still debating whether or not I should buy the game...
What's the general judgement of the port? Reading this thread, apparently there are some minor music issues, and the (poorly smoothed) text fonts are pretty annoying, but the option for 3x game speed sounds like significant improvement, and the theme seems pretty godlike.
Actually, is the theme going to stay bundled with the game? Because that might decide whether I'll buy the game now or later next year.
