Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

I think the consensus is that you can use the glitch to boost his affection, and the trophy pops by looking for his affection level to be within a certain range. If you overuse the glitch, or your affection level is already high enough, and you boost it just a little too much to go past the high-end of the affection range the trophy is looking for, it will cause the trophy not to pop.

tl;dr - if you're going to use the cosmo canyon glitch, don't overdo it.

Yeah i can confirm this, i got him up to around 35, but the girls were still in the low 40s. I did the trick 7 times to get him to the mid 50s and it popped for me

Oh, the discount ended? Shame, I'm still debating whether or not I should buy the game...

What's the general judgement of the port? Reading this thread, apparently there are some minor music issues, and the (poorly smoothed) text fonts are pretty annoying, but the option for 3x game speed sounds like significant improvement, and the theme seems pretty godlike.

Actually, is the theme going to stay bundled with the game? Because that might decide whether I'll buy the game now or later next year.

Sound and background would be nice on their own but the wallpaper for the theme makes text and tiles really hard to read. You often can't even tell what a tile is until you select it because it blends in too much with the wallpaper.

Basically the same issue I have with a lot of these game themed wallpapers that are really busy and opt for transparent tiles. you might have it up for a few days for nostalgic value but then switch it out because of the annoying readability issues.

If people think the battle booster makes the game too easy and is basically cheating, let me just say this:

I beat EMERALD WEAPON, level 56, first time in the sub, no Knights, Cloud only with a Force Stealer.

Yes, using battle booster is cheating lol

FFVII has been one of those few classics I have never played so this version is godsent. I'm at the ship after leaving Junon and so far I've been having a blast. The only "cheat" I use is the 3X speed at easy random battles. Imo it's a great feature to make random encouters more tolerable.

As a whole FFVII has aged suprisingly well. Parts of the game and especially some of the background art still look really good. Then again I really like playing older games and I appreciate the craftmanship and ingenuity that has gone making such ambitious games with limited hardware.

I was poking around the FF Wiki and I saw this interesting tidbit about the Relationship system, specifically in Don Corneo's Mansion.

In other words, Aerith likes you more if you're concerned about her safety, and Tifa likes you more if you're concerned about Aerith's safety.

Tifa was always the better girl and Cloud is an asshole during the first half of the game for not realizing it.

btw, I was hoping that Cloud in the remake was going to be along the lines of the original game instead of the emo disaster we got during the compilation, but seeing as Nomura is directing... I'm a little worried to be honest. Not even sunglasses Barret can compensate a whole game of emo Cloud.

Cloud friend-zoned the shit out of Tifa, deal with it. He loved Aeris, thats why hes emo. Life is pain, pain is life.

Since the conversation is on cheating right now, I'll be honest and chime in. I've used all three cheats at points already (only about a half-hour in). I've tried to play this game so many times over the years and every time I end up quitting half-way or three-quarters of the way through because grinding and the slow battle system make me want to pull my hair out.

Is it the wrong way to play it? Probably. Do I care? Absolutely not.

I've beaten the game before so I use the speed boost a lot. I'm currently AP grinding KoTR and I'm using Omnislash with the cheat on the magic pots. No regrets.

I'm not going to get mad at anybody "cheating." I just know that there are so many benefits to keeping the super boost and the no encounters to a minimum throughout the game from my point of view, that I'd encoucrage others to do the same. If you just run through the dungeon under Cosmo Canyon, the genuine relief for both you, the player, and Red XIII of the following scene would be diminished quite a bit 'cause there are some enemies in there that can snap you like a twig if you're not careful. If you just blaze through the boss rush at the end of Midgar, it's not gonna feel like you made it out barely only for a new journey to begin, more like you're just moving on to the next block of story from the previous block of story. The medium has been trying for a long time to make the game and the story feel like they play off each other, and cutting up one for the sake of the other is not gonna produce the best result all the time.

About the bolded, have you tried ramping up the battle speed and changing the game to active? Makes battles not only faster but also you gotta be thinking quick as hell.

I said god damn lol.

Yeah, I'll probably use the cheats. I've beaten them legit before anyway (well, if you count W-Summon + KotR + Mime and All Lucky 7's as legit)

Or maybe make separate saves and beat them once with cheats and once without.

I ended up with Aeris ... considered trying to get Barret for the trophy haha but realized I don't really care ;p Been a long time since I replayed it so mostly doing it for the story and I always thought that was an important scene between Cloud and Aeris ;p

I kept a few other saves here and there between there and midgar though so maybe I'll come back for it via Cosmo Canyon :D same with Aeris' Great Gospel... I've been trying to 'naturally' level her up as much as possible, and even going slowly she still hasn't even reached Lv2 Limits at the Temple of the Ancients :O Cloud's up to Lv3 naturally but with Aeris you sure gotta go out of your way for it. (I mean, specifically 'grind limits' so to speak.)

It had a lower introductory price.

Dammit I thought this was released like 4-5 days ago when I saw the price increase, didn't realise it was a week. They had finally broken me on getting it just for the theme. Ah well, will go down in price at some stage I'm sure.

FF7 noob here, can someone explain me, what this exactly means:

She's in the back row in the second shot. Takes less damage but also dishes out less (non magic) damage.

Back/front row in battle.
Back row receives less damage end inflict less damage ( unless long ranged weapon equipped)

Back row! Attacks do less damage unless they're "ranged attacks" like magic, or weapons with the ranged trait (Like Barret's guns.) On the other hand, you take less damage.

Oh thanks, so caster in the back row?

Caster in the back row indeed.

But you should really do the smart thing and make Aeris a tank. Her level 2 limit break is called Fucking Destroy U and is a one hit kill on every boss.

Nah,
they bang under the Highwind near the end of Disc 2
Cloud/Tifa was canonized as the "Official Couple" in one of those japan only books. Ultimania or something.

I'd buy into the intentionality of the game design if it didn't feel archaic as hell to me :/

I'll see what I do from here on out. I may switch between cheats, use them all or turn them off. I dunno. But given my past experiences with the game, I'm probably going to use them so I can just experience it all the way through once ¯|_(ツ)_|¯

Wish the cheats weren't here but can't help but use them. 3x speed is a blessing. Got aeries limit break up so ready for great Gospel in less then 20 mins.

The cloud that had amnesia did friend-zone her but after his coming out party it was set in stone they would be together. Tifa loved him but Cloud just never thought he was good enough for her until they went through the lifestream together and she understood him.

So I just left Kalm after the
Cloud and Sephiroth flashback
, where do I go next? Some guy in the town mentioned east and all I found east was a chocobo farm, do I need to go across the yellow area where that serpent is apparently?

Talk to the npcs in Chocobo Farm and they'll tell you all about the exciting life that is catching and riding chocobos.

Omfg is this a bug??

Im at the maco reactor with the bird and i cant start the battle... they say they need 3000gil per battle, want at least 4000 to start, but i have them up to 24000.

3x speed really is great. If you want you can even turn down the battle speed to default or slower and turn on 3x, giving you a nice speed and high framerate battles. Turn of 3x for toga limit tho

It's annoying. Don't DONATE the money. Just have at least 4000 in your possession before starting the fight.

Just so I'm clear, when people say the trophy for the Barrett date pops due to affection you still mean after you do the date right? Like you can't just pop the trophy by using the Cosmo Canyon exploit, you've still gotta go through the whole sequence?

I want to get the trophy but Cloud x Tifa for life yo ;3; I'm gonna have to have a separate file for the Barrett date though I did see people say you can do it in under 3 hours if you skip everything.

Are you Fn kidding me? Was it originally like this? Or is it a bug?
It's not a bug, it just isn't explained well. The donations are for when they fight and you aren't there to help out. The 4000+ is for you to use to deploy troops for that single skirmish.

So, does anyone actually pay attention to stat changes when equipping materia? I've never done so as I would always just want every materia slot filled as much as possible in order to always be leveling up something.

Do the stat changes make a considerable difference?
