Really worried that we can't get to the theater for our 7pm Thursday showing until 5:30ish, fucking work. No assigned seats either. Of course I just find out that they changed another theater here to assigned seating only....

I'm not working Thursday and I'm not getting to the theater until 4:30 for our 7:15 showing. Now I'm thinking I might want to show up... earlier? No assigned seating either.

Might/hopefully be going to a Star Wars IMAX event and screening Saturday in Fukuoka. 4 hour drive but totally want to go. If its sold out or everyone is too fucking drunk Friday, I will take myself Sunday to the one up the street haha.

Hey all, just needed a quick recommendation. I've read about the Machete order. Reading it here on Gaf people have been saying to watch one of the prequels between 5 and 6, but the guy who created this concept says to watch 2 and 3 between 5 and 6.

I'm showing the series to my wife for the first time. We just finished 5 and I don't know if to show her any of the prequels because they're hot garbage. If I do it, should it be 2, 3 or both?

Machete order is to skip 1 and watch 2 and 3 inbetween 5 and 6. I dont think theres any other version of the Machete order. What you may be thinking of is people recommending watching The Clone Wars tv series in between episodes 2 and 3, which is a great idea but I doubt your wife is going to sit through 6 seasons of TV right away. Though most members here would not actually recommend machete, just finish the original trilogy and hit the prequels later if you still desire.

As part of my TFA pregame Ive been doing my own modified Machete order type of thing, but only because I've already seen all of them. It wouldnt be good for a new watcher. It's been:
1. A New Hope
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. The Clone Wars (Overlords/Altar of Mortis/Ghosts of Mortis/Voices/Destiny/Sacrifice)
4. Revenge of the Sith (Labyrinth of Evil fan edit)
5. Return of the Jedi

Why would you bore your wife with hot garbage? Show her 6 and if she's interested enough in the PT go from there.

You don't have to do it! Just watch ROTJ then go see the new one. You two can always watch the prequels later, no need to jam any of them in there.

EDIT: I think you made the right choice!

Good luck with 2...hell I had trouble watching it the other day.

ROTS is not bad.

A few iffy parts but the best of the prequels. I really think the scene with Padme and her looking at the burning Jedi temple during the sunset is done fantastically. (John Willams Score Helps)

The Yoda fight in the senate chamber is also pretty good.

Fuck it, I even like the big duel at the end. It's flashy but fun.

I also still love the wonderful long one-take shot of the battle in space at the start of the movie.

Just still think the "He killed...younglings" is beyond horrible. And the ridiculous exchange on the balcony between anakin and Padme.

But hey. Tomorrow night is A New Hope, it's all up from here.

I still can't get over how well the Kylo Hot Toys figure turned out. I mean I should of given the company but still, I love seeing how collectors are photographing it when its only been out a few days...

Hopefully Sideshow begins shipping in January.

soooooooooo close

crazy thing is I've forced myself not to watch the OT this year

so I'm kinda dying to watch those movies on the big screen this Thursday, too :)

I'm scarlet with rage, several days after ordering premiere tickets. On premiere day in my town - all screenings 3D. "Hey, you know that movie you're salivating after? Smear some vaseline on your glasses and you can watch it".

I feel terrible for you, but also I really like how you phrased that opening. "I'm scarlet with rage." I like that a lot.

But again.

Terrible.

If your wife hasn't seen any of the movies before, there's a good chance she'll enjoy the PT.

Anakin's switch to the Dark Side was horrifically handled, and his 'romance' with Padme becomes unbearable.

Everything on Grevious's ship was horrible, Grevious himself was wasted, Obi Wan's adventure to assassinate Grevious is a green screen abortion.

They also do a damn good job of trying to ruin Darth Vader.

When is the advance premiere? Weird that there's 3 days left and still nothing at all regarding the movie's quality.

It's Monday, I believe. Er, today, depending on where you are in the world.

What do you mean, though? There have been a few folks who have watched it. They all rave.

Oh ok. Surprised there isn't a reaction thread and I'm too scared to go to twitter and facebook.

Oh, it's still just a handful of folks who have seen it, is my understanding. I didn't mean a few GAFfers, just some peeps with industry connections like Spielberg and whatnot. Starting tomorrow that's going to change, what with the world premiere and all. Going dark now is the best route to take.

Oh, well MMarston has seen the movie; there's a confession and everything. I clicked the spoiler-tagged content and was startled to see
Sheevengeance.

That was great. Any idea which director Spielberg was referring to that was in negotiations to direct before Abrams was brought on?

I was asking that same question. I am curious on who it was. I mean, I know Brad Bird was asked, but he turned it down for Tomorrowland.

I am hoping they will eventually say who that other director was. it seemed like it was pretty far in the process before they selected J.J.

After some quick googling, maybe it was Ben Affleck? The Wrap mentioned he was the runner up back when they first broke the news of Abrams directing.

Not seeing this until the 23rd.

Millions of doucehbags everywhere will try to get on every possible site, forum, app, and method of communication to shout spoilers within hours of the premiere because OH SO FUNNY.

I'm debating whether or not I should legitimately try to go on a blackout, or just roll with the punches.

Can we use this thread for spoiler free reviews? Or would people rather not hear writeups altogether?
