She's running so her head is more advanced towards the camera than the rest of her body ?
Possibly an unintended effect of the wide angle lens they used for the shot. She's in the foreground and leaning forward in a run, too, which probably doesn't help.

There are many IMAX(real) theaters equipped with 70MM projectors that are choosing to show the movie in 3D because so they can justify charging more money. Do you not see how absurd this is? This exists because people literally do not give a shit.
Yes, the movie is framed with traditional aspect ratios in mind, but it does not mean it is not framed with the IMAX aspect ratio either. Because if it did, then there wouldn't even be 15 locations showing it as such.

So what's new? I specifically sought out a 2D screening for opening night because I have no interest in seeing it in 3D, at least the first time I see it. But we live in a world full of people who prefer Pan & Scan, Auto-Motion Plus, and couldn't tell that they had HD devices hooked up to their HDTVs with composite cables. The audience being a bunch of low-standard rubes shouldn't be shocking to anyone at this point.
It should be much less noticeable in motion. Unless of course you're thinking about it when that shot happens. Which you will be now. Sorry.

So you want more imax theaters to show it in 70mm 2d for the integrity of film for one scene? I don't think that makes smart business sense for them. They're whole business is 3D.

I can't believe we'll be getting a new Star Wars this week. It seemed so far when they announced it but here we are.
I said I was done, but essentially people should be okay with paying as much if not more than they do for 3D to see the film in 70mm. And filmmakers should understand that when they use such cameras that should be the way the film is viewed generally. Hope you understand. We'd get more films in that format ultimately. Which is a good thing. Give the content creators and content consumers more freedom.
I know, right? I can't believe I'm going on a Star Wars movie date this week (on op of Thursday being my IMAX viewing day with my little bro).

That part doesn't excite me as much. After this year, we'll find the release of a Star Wars movie about as novel as the release of a Marvel movie.
I'm not complaining about it. I'm happy to get move movies. But the idea that a Star Wars release is special will be gone soon.....

I was thinking about that the other day. Yea that novelty of waiting and getting hype will diminish, but I am grateful we are getting more movies and different kinds of them.
Three years, huh. '2015' seemed so far away but we're finally here.
It's overkill imo. Hard to be truly excited for the next installment when you know they are releasing so quickly after the previous one. Rogue One next winter and Episode VIII in May '17 is way too packed of a schedule, really.
Urghh...prepare to cringe. I just want to see what ppl say about Luke appearances if any.

For me, that depends entirely on how good this film is. I like marvel movies, but they're not novel at all for me. The next two won't feel like this, but they could still feel special.

I don't think it's overkill. It's just them realizing the IP they have and not sitting on it for too long. I'd rather see this trilogy as quickly as possible and the anthology films offer a different experience. I may not be as "hyped" for the anthology films as I am for the main trilogy but I am excited for their direction.

Wasn't the polar express shown in 70mm 3d without the new laser projectors? I'm not sure why Star Wars isn't as well.
Either way is rather more imax theaters be 2d with or without 70mm, but what can you do?

The fact they can experiment with different genres is exciting too, what with Rogue One being described as more of a traditional war film than the saga films.

That's what I'm excited about too, I agree, but the schedule is too dense in my opinion. 3 years between episodes and a spin-off in between them would have been good, now we're getting 3 Star Wars movies within 1.5 year, that's too much.
My earliest memory of going to a theater was seeing Empire Strikes Back at a drive in with my parents. A few years later I was super excited at the age of 8 to see Jedi and now my son is 8 and I'm taking him on Saturday to see this. Driving 100 miles to take him to one of the biggest Imax screens in the state just to blow his face off (we only have fake imax around here). Star Wars was my childhood so i'm feeling all kinds of nostalgic and excited right now. I also enjoy the works of J.J. I'm a huge fan of Lost and loved his Mission Impossible and that time he decided to impersonate the Spielberg movies I loved as a kid (super 8). So yeah my expectations are a bit unrealistic but it's gonna be fun either way.
I thought GAF was safe for Fallout (though that wasn't nearly as anticipated as this).
Only takes 1 person to ruin it. I'll be getting the hell off the internet for a few days. And hopefully nobody at work spoils me (i'm looking at you girl that always spoils the walking dead before I see it)
One coworker is coming in late on the 16th to see the first screening, thankfully he hates spoilers just as bad as I do, so he will keep his mouth shut untill monday (we're the only two who care enough about Star Wars to actually go see it).

The theatre is the one who controls the seating and scheduling. You would have to check with them regarding availability.

Agreed. Disney/Lucasfilm really should have held off with doing any spin off films until after Episode IX. By the time 2017 rolls around and especially 2019, a new Star Wars film coming out will feel a lot more commonplace.
It shouldn't feel like that for the new mainline entries.
