Ugh, and that walk. Like not a care in the world. See-through dress? Check. Over-the-top meandering? Check. We get it, girl, you've got cash, omg.

THE HYPE AWAKENS

Are we going to do rotten tomatoes score predictions?

85%. EP 3 and 6 got 79%, FWIW.
I expect it'll be about Star Trek 09 quality and that one got 95%. I don't know if I should keep it the same or lower it a bit because of the hype tax. Guess I'll say 88-89 or thereabouts, unless the script is trash.

i don't know what the fuck I'm talking about

The fact that he's an iteration on R2-D2 probably diminishes the 'iconic' status. But the ball design is stupendously awesome. Btw is it he lol? How are gender pronouns decided for robots??
Just use third person haha. Although, I'll say that he's a male robot though.

The last film I watched from Abrams was Star Trek 2009, which took a similar reboot approach in hauling back in original cast members and then going over similar territory as the older films. That was a well made movie but the story was a mess. I became deflated the moment I saw the new death star / planet thingy in the trailer / poster; feels like the same approach and I find that disappointing. Plot seems a bit over stuffed as well (worried about how Finn manages the arc of being a Tie Fighter pilot to light saber-wielding guy going up against an experienced force user, in the span of one film with tons of other characters).

I hope it's good but I just can't get on board the hype train. Will see when I'm able to do so without a line.

I think this is a thing that just happened...

LucasFilm Just Invited Everyone Camping Outside Mann’s Chinese Theater Into The Star Wars: The Force Awakens Premiere – And The After Party!

Well, their perseverance has been rewarded – everyone still there has been invited in to see the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They’ve had to move out of the way for the premiere to happen, but they are going to get in.

Gotta say this is one of my concerns as well. I think it was the Japanese trailer that said Rey was a force user? But then Finn is also a lightsaber dude? So somehow these two Jedi just stumble into each other on a fat desert planet, and then Han Solo is there I guess?

They've got a lot of explaining to do.

Also really hoping the film isn't overstuffed with action. There's at least three major dogfights in the film based on the ads, the Kylo/Finn fight, and then probably tons of other stuff we haven't seen. That seems like a lot to me, idk

The answer to almost every chance encounter between characters in Star Wars...

The Force!

Star Wars has always been about destiny taking the lead with these things, so while it could still be handled in a rushed fashion and that'd be a real shame, I think the idea itself here isn't a problem at least.

I think I'll just suspend my disbelief when it comes to issues like characters meeting each other in improbable ways.

Those kind of plot issues are kind of a given when doing a story taking place across multiple planets. How did Luke happen land on top of Yoda, for example? It doesn't really make sense, but without that kind of thing, there'd be no story.

Apparently John Williams did not conduct the opening main theme or the credits theme sequence to Force Awakens because of his back/health issue. He invited his friend and LA Philharmonic Conductor Gustavo Dudamel conducted both sequences. He confirmed it on his twitter as did the LAPhil instagram account. Not that it matters except to John Williams fans like myself.

Wow that is incredible that the guys waiting in line get to go in, that's awesome.

So tonight the impressions will fly, can't wait.

I still don't believe that I am seeing a new Star Wars movie in 3 days.

Orci wrote that story and he's terrible. I have confidence in this since Kasdan is doing it.

I get that, but the setup for ANH was fairly logical. Besides Leia being Luke's sister, that's pretty weird.

I just keep thinking of Trek 09 and Kirk fucking wandering into Old Spock's cave. I don't want that again.
