Anyways...to steer away back on course.

..was the tweet about one of the iconic shots from the trailers apparently deleted in the finished version brought up?

No joke.

I'm probably out this thread as well. I just have to last until Thursday since I will be in the theater all day for the marathon. Safe and surrounded by nerds to shelter me.

Or people could just not be assholes.

If one knows the spoilers, they should have enough common sense not to say anything one way or another (because yes or no can be taken as a confirmation).

(Besides, even those who know stuff only know a limited amount. No dialogue has been leaked, only the shooting schedule (and some other stuff), meaning there's a lot of unknowns.)

well the problem isnt the post full of spoilers, it's the people jumping all over the poster and pointing out how they're spoilers. had no one done that, no one here would know any better.

So yeah, people shouldn't be posting spoilers BUT people who know the spoilers shouldn't be confirming that shit either because we would be none the wiser otherwise. It's crappy all around

That kind of talk, even if speculation, should always be spoiler tagged. We have a whole untagged spoiler/speculation thread to jabber in. No need to bring unspoilered speculation/guesswork into this thread.

I like to tag everything, just in case. Hell, even shit from the OT I'll tag. There are a LOT of people who have never seen anything Star Wars. Assuming everyone has feels like going into a "What is your favorite game" thread in gamer side, and have the thread be full of screenshots with no game titles. Yes, it's nice that you played that one obscure but awesome Commodore 64 game, but not everyone has. Name that shit!

TAG YOUR SPECULATION, even if you think it's a long shot!

Considering how he hasn't said anything else, I'm guessing he is banned. Either he accidentally came into this thread instead of the spoiler thread, or he was just speculating.

Tips to avoid every TFA spoiler imaginable.

Step 1: Unplug Ethernet cord from modem.
Step 2: Turn your phone OFF. Use only for emergencies.
Step 3: Buy the best pair of earplugs money can buy. Wear them.
Step 4: Take off earplugs once you see the Lucasfilm logo during your screening.
Step 5: Enjoy the movie, spoiler free.

"Speculating" seems to be an excuse to post spoilers nowadays. Especially since people rarely explain why they think that. If one is actually speculating, they should post their reasoning as well (and sources).

(Were i running a forum, or be responsible to moderating spoilers, i'd confine speculation to its own thread or a spoiler thread, with rule breaking being bannable offense, no exceptions.)

Do you think we will have an extended cut with the BR release or something? JJ said there were like roughly 4h of footage in total.

I agree on that, if these speculations are based on confirmed spoilers, they are spoilers.

Don't think so. Assembly cuts of films are always long as shit because they typically include every shot running it's full length, when you move from an assembly to a rough cut, you clear off a ton of that run time just by making things flow more smoothly, before even excising scenes. It doesn't sound like Disney forced him to take things out, so most of the cut things were cut by creative choice.

Going back to what a few echoed in this thread. It's ok to be massively hyped but keep your expectations in check. Don't go in expecting the 2nd coming, or for this movie to change the way we view cinema. Just go in and have fun.

I feel a lot of people in the fandom and many here will immediately go in and try to nitpick things with the movie or make comparisons. Just go in and enjoy it. If you come out having a had a good time with a smile on your face then mission successful.

Let the other diehards argue over where to place this movie and so on. You won't even be able to accurately gauge that unless you do repeat viewings and wait some time to let it all sink in.

Midnight screening tonight, work the next morning... then another screening 5:30 tomorrow night.

I was up till 11pm last night and was really tired. I think I'm too old for this shit.

Are you asking what's wrong with quoting potential spoilers?

first of all it is so crazy that it is obviously not a spoiler. and is discussing predictions the same thing as spoilers now? might as well lock this thread until the opening weekend then.

Disney might look at the success of the Extended Editions of LotR/Hobbit and do some kind of Extended/Special Edition BluRay leading up to Ep8, maybe? :}

Here I am just wanting to read some general impressions and fucking spoilers anywhere. Can't believe how many lowlives just post major plotpoint anywhere, especially meaning to ruin it for other people. Got at least one major plot point spoiled...
Well, guess it's my own fault. Will never search for impressions for any movie I'm looking forward.

Think it's incredibly sad though. It's like some people get a hard one for spoiling others. It's pathetic.

I'm not going to lie, those supposed spoilers contradicted what I thought were spoilers I already knew so that means I now have two different ideas for what is happening with the movie, meaning that I know nothing.

So now it's like im back to not having a clue what's happening lol

Did they mention which shot? Hoping it's not the TIEs in front of the sun.

It was previously cut from the film before that trailer hit. But due to the fan reaction it was added back in, but was altered a bit because it was moved in the cut.

I know how it is. Back on IGN the week before LOTR:Return of the King came out, someone spoiled one of the ending plot points for me.

I'm not seeing this until Christmas

*hides under a rock for the next two weeks*

I feel you, dawg. I'm supposed to wait until the 27th to see it with my whole family.

"Predictions" are now extremely dangerous in this thread because a lot of them are people who obviously know extra info and mask it as speculation. There are plenty of other threads for such discussion. I dunno if what he posted is a spoiler, but if it looks fishy why take the the risk of quoting? Seems like common sense to me, hours before the film's release..

They feed on your anger, you know.

Best thing to do is just go on blackout for a few days. I'm basically signing off of life shortly.

Some people I know just saw this.

They're verdict is suppper positive and they aren't even the biggest SW fans. Hype.

I know everyone's experience will be different but this bodes well not only for fans, but the casual and even the fans who've only heard of SW but not big into it.

If it's a good fun movie. Word of mouth spreads

Just started watching the original trilogy for the first time (watched like V when i was a kid but i can't even remember anything about it tbh)

So...A New Hope was sooooo fuckin good, blows my mind that it came out in '77, some of the effects were really damn impressive

The lightsaber fight was so awkward and stiff tho ahah

Off to watch The Empire Strikes Back now...what's the consensus about I-II-III? just skip 'em all together? i have tickets for Sunday so i got time to make it if they have any remarkable scenes in them

I'm excited, no doubt, but I'm really excited for my 9 year old daughter to get to experience opening night.
She's been in full Star Wars mode for about 6 months now. This'll hopefully be a fun memory with her old man that she carries with her the rest of her life. :)

I highly suggest waiting to watch them after TFA.

So will this new saga ever be numbered like Episode VII etc., or are we only getting titles from here on out?

Also is Thanos in this film and, if so, where does Star Wars fit in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe?
