Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Weird. I got the Chocochampion trophy after doing a Chocobo Racing Bet (which I lost) in Gold Saucer... Did this happen to anyone?

Strange. Regardless congrats on trophy glitch! I just platinumed the game myself yesterday. Funny enough the grind to level 99 was the most tedious part. Must have thrown 200+ elixers at those magic posts.

The EXP+ and Gil+ materia that you can get as prizes from the Wonder square in disk 2 or 3 definitely sped the process along though.

Does anyone have tips for Chocobo breeding and racing? trying to get a gold one so I can get Knights summon and Vincent's level 4 limit break.

My C class good chocobo has not won a single race yet out of the 12 its raced...

You can breed a gold chocobo without doing a single race.

Oh I had no idea the stamina bar continuously regens. But either way, in manual control, I can't steer the damn thing. It doesn't like me or something. I gave it some greens and still doesn't really listen.

What quality was your chocobo?

You should be capturing them in very specific location, namely the chocobo tracks near icicle inn.

When you have Billy inspect them, pay attention to the animation of the chocobo. It'll be either

Standing
Mosey-ing
Running
Sprinting

This is an easy way to determine the quality of your chocobo.

If your chocobo isn't at least running, ditch it and capture another.

Got all trophies... Except the goddamnd Bromance one.

Shit, it pisses me off a bit. I'm not in the mood to replay all the game from Don Corneo's part, which is my oldest save right now.

That mandatory Chocobo race is literally one of the worst controlling sequences in a game ever in my opinion, luckily i just mashed circle on the second try and managed to beat it.

My brother was in a similar situation. He started the game again and using all the cheats was able to get the trophy in just over 3 hours from a fresh new game. Skip everything unnecessary, fight no random battles and just limit break your way to victory from the back row.

I'm getting frustrated!

I'm breeding chocobos, and I have my green already. Both my make and female yellows are class S. Do you have to have a good or great chocoholic to increase the chances?

I have a wonderful female and great male.

Literally just found about this last night before reading replies. From scratch, it took me 15 minutes to get one without racing. So much less of hassle

All I have left to do to get the Platinum is:
-Beat Ruby and Emerald Weapon
-Master Summon Materia
-Cloud to LV 99
-Omnislash
-99,999,999 gil
-And finally beat the game

Going to take forever to get 99,999,999 and the master summon materia.

Getting the master summon materia takes less than 20 minutes. You just need to defeat Emerald weapon and trade the item you get to some old guy in Kalm. Getting the gil should take you two hours tops.

I can't believe in all the times I've played this game I never sold any mastered All materia until now. I'm swimming in them and after selling just 2 I think I've covered my money needs for the rest of the game.

Should I play this or wait until the remake? I have a big backlog already so not sure.
There's no guarantee when the remake will be completely out, plus it'll play like a completely different game. If you're into classic turn based JRPGs then this is easily worth playing if you've not before.

I never made it out of the exploding factory place at the start due to backlog at the time.

I just don't want to be burnt out for the remake but they are two very different beasts.

Exactly. I used to hoard them. This time I sold one and I feel I can equip everyone so easily.

Man, I love this game.

Welp, didn't know that either (I guess I dont a lot of things about FFVII!)

Just beat Emerald, got the materia.

But I am stuck on Ruby Weapon. The Knights of the Round is dealing 0 damage...what gives? Cloud is level 75.

If Ruby's tentacles are in the ground you'll do 0 damage I believe. Either destroy them or wait for it to withdraw them.

Also, a little tip, if you want to avoid Cloud (or whoever is your best character) getting sucked out of the battle, kill off the other two members before you fight him. I did this before, he never used that move when I just had one character.

Also abuse W-Summon and KOTR, but be ready to heal, I believe Ruby likes to counter with Ultima.

When you first get into the fight Ruby is immune to all damage until it spawns its tentacles.

He should only be immune at the beginning of the fight. It would also be troublesome to heal during the fight unless you have a mastered KOTR summon as it would disrupt your Mime. The best thing to do would be to pair up KOTR with HP absorb materia,

I done all the grafting before on vita so just abused cheats to kill ruby and emerald to skip chocobo breeding all together. Omnislash x God knows how many on emerald at level 50 then kill ruby with Knights of the round before you even can get Knights of the round. Thanks based squareenix cheats. Done everything now. Just grinding pots in the north crater. At 20 hours now.

Need advice gaf.

I really wanna play this, but i dont want to be bored of the game when the new remake comes out.

Do you think its worth playing now? Or should i wait for the new remake?

The slap fight after the escape was hilarious. I had forgotten all about that whole sequence apart from the cut scene with the Highwind at the end.

Heya GAF, a bit of background. Cloud getting in smash finally made me think "I should finally play that copy of FF7 Ive had laying around for years". Plus despite owning several FF games, for some reason the only one I've completed is the first game on the NES!

As it turns out, the disc doesn't seem to work >_>

So I'm deciding to get this game digitally, but I'm having trouble deciding between the emulated Vita version or this PS4 remaster.

For clrafication, I don't really care about trophies or the speed up stuff / encounter avoiding. Are there any other selling points towards the remaster, or would it better for me to get the vita version for portability?

Snowboarding is worse. Chocobo racing is just gauge management, you don't actually have any real control.

The submarine minigame is terrible, too, but it's hilarious that they just spawn the enemy ship 20 feet in front of you and the whole thing is over in like 15 seconds.

The PS4 version has analog control for running. The PS1 version has you using the D-Pad and holding down the Circle button to run for the entire game.

PS4 version is definitive.

FF7 came out before the DualShock, so FF8 and FF9 are the only PS1 FFs with analog controls. The control differences are always what dated FF7 more than the graphics, to me.

As someone that slogged through FF7's initial release back in '97-- and loved every minute of it back then-- I wasn't really wanting to revisit Gaia since I have a ton of other games that I want to put some time into... but man alive, having those cheats enabled makes setting aside 30-45minutes for some FF7 after a long day of work a great way to zone out and wind down my day, similar to how I approach playing most of Destiny or Rocket League. It was a great idea for SE to keep those in there from the iOS version.

Oh wow, guess I'm going with the PS4 version then. Thanks for the info!

Omggg. I'm near Gongaga and forgot to equip a White Cape and am now stuck in random battle hell with 6 fucking Touch Me's who have been frog songing me non stop for 10 plus minutes now.

Uuuuuuuggggghhhhhhh. I refuse to restart and lose the last 30 minutes of grinding. REFUSE.

don't those have like 5-6 HP or something? i was sure I killed 3 of them even as frogs ;p and the frog debuff breaks easily

//edit/// nah 300 hp, just searched. maybe i got in a few aeris melee attacks after frog job broke the frog debuff. you could use a weak all-cast item spell too heheh like a deadly waste or something or a few of grenades

It was all very bizarre. Punch Queen Tifa will happily jump out of an airship to pick up an ancient flying monster created by the planet and slam it into the air itself but won't punch someone who's just being a bitch.

I hope they keep both of these in the remake.

As someone who didn't look to see what the white cape did, that 15 minutes of being in that never ending frog battles was real annoying.

Got through the swamp / cave and on my way to fort condor and junon.

Aries already has her first level 3 limit break for me so I guess I just have 80 kills with her and then have to do some things later to get her final limit break.

Actually not that bad or grindy. I spent a few minutes grinding a few easy battles around midgar where you fight 3 wolves a lot of the time which are easy kills with fire + all.

I am only level 18 so dont feel that overleveled or anything

Think I will push on with the main story for a bit now and get to the second landmass.

Also 3x speed made the Kalm flashback stuff fly by. I remember that always being a drag.

Does 3x speed mean the game clock is also going at 3x speed or did they somehow account for that?

Wow, I was worried that getting the final limits for each character would take forever even with the 3x cheat. Took me about a half hour to get from lvl 2 to Great Gospel with Aerith, and I've never gotten that far before.

This should be a fun platinum!

Does 3x speed mean the game clock is also going at 3x speed or did they somehow account for that?

I think the game clock is always at normal speed. I've had the 3x cheat on since the start and am now near the end of "disc" 1 with 8 hours logged on my save, which seems reasonable.

"Gya ha ha" and "Kya ha ha" being used to refer to the characters had me laughing so loud.

There will be changes, but they really need to retain as much of the goofy charm as possible in the remake.

Ifyou already have her first level 3 you just need to use it about 8 times.

Finally finished my playthrough today, managed to get every trophy apart from the Barret date one ;-;. Seriously debating whether it's worth starting again and sinking hours into it just to get that bloody bronze for the platinum.

Quite happy with the port though, but I wish the cheats were selectable in a menu rather than bound to buttons so I wouldn't keep speeding up the game accidentally while remote playing on Vita.

uhh, you mean those blue question mark things? yeah.

Oh well. Would prefer it if they updated that.

Guess ill jump in to this game again. Last time i played it, i was 10 ;)

anyone wanna give me a quick intro to those cheats? 3x speed is pretty straight forward i guess, but how do the others work?
