Is that an official art screen shot because whatever filter they used completely killed the nice texturing the original art had on the airship.

Like with other FFs, there's also difficulty and rebalancing mods for it. One called Requiem that adds a ridiculous amount of difficulty to the game, with the final boss taking hours to beat. I believe that's for the emulated PS1 version, though, not the Steam version. The Steam version includes similar bells and whistles to VII: booster packs and the ability to fast forward some scenes.

Well what do you expect them to do if they don't have the original assets anymore? It's still a bummer though.

Yeah, upressing low-res background art for HD resolution would look horrible, and pretty hard to do.
I doubt the game will support anymore higher resolution than 1080p on PC because of that.

Well that's just the ps1 iso. Nothing is upgraded. It's the original disc ISO on PSN.
Not worth it now that this version has been announced.
Super worried they're not going to update the animations to run smoothly in battle. It doesn't look like they adjusted them at all. :/
EDIT: Also hope they don't entirely fuck up the UI for the PC version. Please god don't pull another FFVI and just smash the Android port into an exe...

I expect them to hand redraw everything lovingly in HD down to the every blemish in the original art... Nah but it's a case where you could hand tune the filters to each background and save the new assets vs having a single filter that looks good someplace but bad others . That doesn't mean everything would look great just the best possible it could.
