Final Fantasy IX coming to PC & Smartphones

Yes. I was beginning to think 9 was going to be forgotten by Square. And high speed mode :). Almost have the entire collection in one place.

Those were just contributing factors. I dislike the fact that the entire game was engineered to be some sort of nostalgia dive with lots of hurr-hurr references to "classic" FF. Strip all of that away, and the actual story and characters in the game are really shallow and the narrative is pretty nonsensical and lacks a strong theme. I love a ton of scenes in FFIX, but as an overall product I disliked it more and more as time went by.

The first time you've managed to deflate my excitement for something!

I haven't played this before, so I'm still happy that it's getting an upgraded port, but my expectations are a little more tempered now compared to all the praise I was seeing.

So good. Can't wait to play the best ps1 final fantasy game again. I didn't think we would get ff9 on PC for a long time.

Cloud's expression transcends time and space~

Cloud was like, "Nutted but she still sucking".

I'm about to cry. I will buy every single version available, even for consoles I don't even have.

This is my favorite game of all time, the epitome of Final Fantasy.

The high speed toggle fixes the only minor flaw it had. I can't express how fucking happy I am.

Don't listen to duckroll. FFIX is a product made with genuine love and care. Seriously, anybody who even remotely likes JRPG needs to play it.

Now I remember people saying the battle system speed was bugged not slow intentionally. This true? I remember I used to set the battle speed to max right off the bat.

Regardless, really hoping to have X/x2/xii come to PC too, completing my once lost collection.

Judge it for yourself. FFIX has some issues but its story and characters aren't nearly as much of a mess as say, FFVIII's. I find the game endearing.

The nostalgia argument around FFIX has always been interesting to me, because at the time I originally played it, I don't think I had played any of the games it was apparently trying to evoke. For me, there's nothing to "strip away" there.

It holds up on its own just fine. I'd like to meet someone who primarily enjoyed FFIX because of references or throwbacks to past games in the series, because I find it hard to believe many of those people exist.

Really surprised as thus was the only ff on ps1 with no PC port! I guess we may have to thanks the mobile port for it!

Wow! Great news! I can't wait for this. One of my all time favorite games. I'll probably double, if not triple dip on this (PC/Phone/PS4).

The opening two thirds of the game is fantastic. I was enamoured with the ending and it was obvious the ps1 was really being taxed (note a lack of large scale boss encounters). However, it had a great levelling system, really challenging battles and situations, superb locales and fully fleshed out npc journeys and some great side missions (hot stuff for achievements here).

In a nutshell: we'll all have something bad to say about every final fantasy even if we love them to bits!

Finally, i'll get to replay this game. Didn't get to complete it as my 3rd disc wouldn't load. Nice to see they improved the textures too. Shame the backgrounds couldn't be salvaged.

Hope they allow us to remove the random battles too and PS4 version please!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT SPEEDUP YES YES HOLY SHIT BASED SQUARE

...Ahem.

In all seriousness though, this is going to be an actual port? Not some sort of tricked out custom PS1 emulation but an actual legit port? Holy shit if true.

I just replayed this on an emulater recently. It upreses very nicely, on par with an early ps2 game.

I will buy this version to support it. It's a top 3 Final Fantasy to everyone with taste.

The nostalgia factor is an added plus as I see it. I played FFIX without having played many FFs before and I enjoyed it inmensely. Years later when I had played through all FFs I played IX again and it was even better knowing all the little things. This game is perfect. I'm crying T_T
