Baggy yellow suspender type pants over pink tights. It's an interesting visual flaire, but really doesn't stand out in game.

Excellent news, looking forward to getting this. Might actually go for iOS. Surprised they skipped VIII on mobile, I wonder if that's in the pipeline now.
They probably just said fuck it and based the port off of launch code. They touched up some models and added a filter to the backrounds, as well as redid the menu's and UI, but the jump is only relatively bigger than the FF7 PC port.
I wonder how they'll handle the super low res FMV's. Converting PS2 FMV's up for the FF10 and KH remasters worked well, but PS1?

Sigh I love so much about the game, and yet, i just can't get into it.
The music, the battle system, the old school prerendered background, it's wonderful.
But HOLY SHIT, I've never seen character designs ruin a game for me more than FFIX.
Vivi was pretty iconic, but other than that, it felt like controlling a bunch of visually unappealing weirdos.
Is ok, modern square got you covered, in 2017 you'll be able to play with a k-pop band.

so excited, FFIX some amazing atmosphere and backgrounds, and one of my favorite soundtracks. haven't played it since 2000
out of context, though, I would never have never guessed that the character designs were something that square (or any japanese studio) did. they look kind of like something out of a 90s eurojank game. i don't think they're all that bad, though

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
In case Square-Enix can't use the High Definition backgrounds I hope that someone makes a mod for it because I would buy this game for the 3rd time on PC if that happens.

FF9 character designs are ,visually,not very good in general.One of the weaker elements of the game.

Unfortunately I think the HD ones we have are something like 0,1% of the backgrounds there are in the game.
So unless SE has more of them somewhere, we'll have a RE:HD type upsample at most.

The problem with the high res backgrounds is they are WIPs, not the final versions. The finishing touches by the artists were done on resized images. Same goes for the animated parts.

Can't really blame anyone, when I was a kid I felt the same way about FF9's designs not being "cool." But today it's almost unfair to even compare these designs to FF15's sameface cast.

^true, FF9 characters needed more BELTS, and ZIPPERS. that Nomura feeling
in fairness, Eiko is pretty ugly, but most of the other characters look fine, good even. so no, not really.

Yup. I like Amano, Minaba, Nomura, Yoshida, Ferrari. Maybe I'm boring as fuck but at least I don't have to fight over the stuff, lol.

I remember Vivi/Steiner being a good combo. Don't remember much about summons except for a few hidden and alternative attacks that were kind of obscure.
I always stuck to Freya, Vivi, Steiner, sometimes Quina (that frog attack).
Must have gone through the game six times at least... eiko and Amaranth always got the least play, probably because you get them so late.

Last I checked controllers were pretty common on PC. 360 controller is plug and play and I've used it for all the other FF PC ports.
PCs support controllers.

Oh c'mon. There are valid reasons to prefer other platforms to PC, but this is absolutely not one of them.
I refuse to believe that post way anything other than a joke, for my own sanity.
I couldn't imagine playing this on a touchscreen.
